MainelyBASS Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I am hearing estimates of 1-2 weeks past last years ice outs for the deeper lakes in NH If thats all it is, I will be happy. Last year I think that I was out the first week of April on Mousam, much earlier than that on Sebago. Quote

Yep probably going to be close to ice out if it is even ice out by then. All you need is a 2 lb average to win at that place it seems. The arrowhead tourney is going to be interesting as well. Quote

Arrowhead will be interesting being the first lake of the trial, but it does ice out early being shallow. No trail fishing for me this year. Quote
llPa1nll Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Friend was ice fishing on my home lake in Windham, he said there was still a solid 15" of ice on Friday the 20th. I think it wont be until April 12th until I get out. Quote

If we ice out soon, it could be a slugfest. If the ice lasts another 3 weeks, it will turn into a tough bite. 1 Quote

Im gonna start fishing the trail, but might not end up being able to finish due to my wife be pregnant with twins, due in August. We will see. Quote

There are so many better places to fish nearby. Quote
MainelyBASS Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 It's Maine's version of the Delaware River...I don't mind it because I feel like everybody is gonna struggle and I have a shot, but it's tough for sure. Quote
bobh64 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Mousam is a good lake won a lot of money from lunker tournaments on it, but the bass turn off easily on it. You can win that lake with just smallmouth. I will be doing a couple Open tournaments this year instead of the trail to let me have more time to fish for relaxation. 1 Quote
Nashua Nev Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 my river is wide open. Sat morning if weather permits. i will be jumping the snow banks with my canoe. 1 Quote

MainelyBASS Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Congratulations man! Thank you. I appreciate that. I am scared to hell, I am really addicted to fishing and I know that it will change, but I hope I can get out enough to keep me sane when the time comes. Quote

I like going after lunkers. I am assuming your lunker tournaments are unofficial tournaments between you and a couple of your buddies ? What is lunker there usually ? What opens will you be doing ? I also will be doing a few as usual. Quote

SmalljawNH Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Wanted to share a couple photos of the largemouth I caught while targeting crappie a couple of weeks ago. 2# test line on a light jig rod. No scale with us, it was 21 1/2" on the tape. First bass of 2015. On a side note, I'll definitely be fishing some tournaments this year. I fished club tournaments in 2014 out of my Skeeter and hope to fish a few more tournaments this year. Looking at getting into the NH Bass Caster Draw and Midweek tournaments. The melt is definitely on and I'm psyched. 4 Quote
JoyoftheCatch Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Nice catch! I'm also thinking about fishing the bass caster tournaments this year as a co angler. They seem like a lot of fun! Quote
SmalljawNH Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 You should, they're fun. First one is on Massabesic on May 2nd. I hope to get my structure scan up and running in mid April so I can prefish it. 1 Quote

Lunkers on Mousam can be from 2-5 lbs I won it with a 4 1/2 smallie or a large just under 2 lbs. mousam is not known for big fish but it starting to have slabs for crappie I have been told. I might do Moose and Keezar opens. if I really want to spend money I might try Sandy's northern bass supply weekend tournament on Sebago this Sept I keep hearing good things about it. (forgot to add just heard mousam has 30 inches of ice still as of yesterday but the shores are opening up.) Quote

I love fishing Kezar that place can be awesome. I have fished Sandy's open on Sebago in September. The fishing can be super tough there that time of year. Of course they usually drop the lake 5 feet or so the week before the tournament and that changes everything. If you can get a limit of 2 - 2 1/2 lbers both days on Sebago in September you are in contention to win. They have the results from the last few years on there website. That place is just plain mean in September. 1 Quote
bobh64 Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Been looking at all the live web cams on Winni the shores are opening up now finally. I have finally reach my boat and now charging my batteries up, next up cleaning all the compartments and throwing away about a 100lbs of plastic baits I will never used that I have collected over the years. 1 Quote
Fly_Fisherman Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Hey everyone who fished tournaments, I was wondering if anyone was looking for a non boater to take under their wing. I have some tournament experience, a boater license and my dad actually has a ranger that I fish out of very frequently. I however lack a towing vehicle of my own and my dad is pretty iffy on letting his 18 year old son take his brand new truck and boat out alone lol. If anyone wants a partner for tournaments then I am more than willing and able. PM me if you can, and thanks! Quote
