bobh64 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Horn Pond today almost 2 dozen the larger bite is starting to turn on, Jigs and crank baits and tubes around the structure. 6-12ft Cabbage areas did well also. most fish 2-3lbs better then the smaller ones I have been catching lately. 1 Quote
mebisho Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Fished Horseshoe again today, 8 bass, the biggest about 2. They were deep, hanging at the drop offs Quote
Fly_Fisherman Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Collar bone is healing up nicely! I'm going to try fishing Potanipo tonight just to get out on the water. 1 Quote
BassHunter 66 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 getting back in the swing of things here, heading up to Newfound lake in Bristol this Sunday for a tourney, anyone know that lake? Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 1, 2014 Super User Posted October 1, 2014 Newfound is sweet. Bring a Tx. rig rod for your Blue Craw Rage Bugs with 12lb flouro, Another with 15lb flouro for tubes, and a drop shot rod and plenty of Watermelon Red or Blue Craw Cut'R Worms. For the drop shot, bite about an inch off the top of that bait, and rig it tail down. A jig rod is obvious, and I'd try lighter weight jigs with Rage Craws on 'em. Let the conditions tell you dark or light. That place is crystal clear, and deep! Steep drop offs, very close to shore are gonna hold fish. The place is windy when everywhere else is light and variable, so plan on working against the wind. Alot of guys will probably use cranks, and catch fish, but not the better fish very often. Jigs and plastics will get you the bigger fish there. Quote
mebisho Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Fished the shore if Maasabesic, caught a lmb that wasn't long but was definitely fattening up for the winter. He had a belly like mine, big Quote
bobh64 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Fished Keezar lake in Maine Thursday caught more then 2 dozen with me and two other friends in the boat. These are what worked, my wise a$$ friend took this picture while I was tangled up after a run on the lake The largest was a 3 1/2 largemouth on the lower small end of the lake. the upper large end we got on some smallies with the biggest at 3 and 2 1/2 pounds. all and all a great time on the lake but getting out was crappy dragged the frame of my boat trailer on the ramp because the water is getting to low to put the boat on the trailer correctly but that will be solved soon with my new f150 supercrew Have fun fishing the best time of year out there. 1 Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 We came in 1st out of 33 teams at the qualifying tournament, then 4th at the championship... Not too bad 8 Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 5, 2014 Super User Posted October 5, 2014 Nice job, Jitterbug. What was the big fish for the first one? Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Nothing huge the biggest one was dead upon weigh in and would have went around 2.5 then we weighed in our next biggest wich was a 2.25 smallie, we another LM close to that size as well... Then the rest were solid fish to round out the limit... 1 Quote
mebisho Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Didn't have a good day today, only one pickerel. I threw everything but not even a few hits. Any suggestions on fall fishing? I'm kind of stumped Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 7, 2014 Super User Posted October 7, 2014 Fish are scattered When they are aggressively eating (which at some point in the day, they are), they will kill all your moving baits- swim jigs, cranks, spinnerbaits, Rage Rigs, etc Always fish a jig on the drop offs, or next to any isolated structure, like a submerged tree or rock pile You will find some fish shallow, and some deep As the water cools, don't expect to catch a ton of fish, but do be ready for when one hits, cuz it could be a good one (for real) The fish will change patterns on you throughout the course of the day several times, so check back in on likely structure often 3 Quote
bobh64 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Also wind and water current have been playing factors, brown grass is dying grass = no oxygen it releases c02 till it's done decaying so fish don't hang around those areas so I look for the green grass ridges. Just little things I have noticed over the years. Quote
mebisho Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Thanks Bob. I appreciate your experience. I'll keep going until it gets too cold. Getting to the age where I don't handle the cold as long as I used to. Tough to tie knots with fingers that aren't as nimble anymore Quote
bobh64 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Here you go southern NH, 10.01 lbs 25 inches long 18 inch girth Caught yesterday on a southern NH water (He won't tell me right away) but promises to let the location out because there are even bigger fish there. Some of you might know Ed he is also the State champ on this years Maine Bass Trail I fished in this summer. He told me he caught it on a deep jig. 5 Quote
bass anytime Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 What a great fish! A real trophy for NH waters. Heading to Balch on Friday, I do wish the water had cooled a little more by now. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 Sweet fish..love it! 1 Quote
bobh64 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Just got a update with them catching a 7.9th fish now on the same pond Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 I feel like the red guy in the M&M's Christmas commercial "AAAHHH...they DO exist!" The elusive 10 pounder in NH. That's a heck of a catch. He shoulda put it back, and caught her again when she hit record size. Keeping that fish was a mistake, especially when he thinks there are bigger there. 7 Quote
bobh64 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 He had kept the fish alive for a little bit while he called several people asking for opinions on the matter before he made the decision It wasn't a easy one for him being the fisherman he is, he actually felt sad about it. In his defense you don't come across those in our waters to often. It would have been a hard choice for me on the water. He got it weighed at Calef's Country Store after so the weight is off a official scale. He and his buddy went to the same pond yesterday (weds) and produced a 7.9lb largemouth ten feet from where he got the 10 pounder. I have the pic if anyone wants to see it lol. Quote
