Nashua Nev Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 1) Naticook Lake, Merrimack NH - I've fished from obvious/visible openings along the shoreline near the boat launch behind veteran's park. I've had more success fishing this lake from the beach at Wasserman park. ---------- lots of pickerel a few nice bass, and a bunch of 1/2 to 2 lbers, Veterans park opposite wassermans --- lots of area to fish from shore. lots of places to walk --- 2) The bridge on Tinker Road in Merrimack. Right near a 4-way intersection there is a bridge across the Pennichuck brook (I think?). Roadside parking available and fishing is possible on both sides of the bridge. ------------- fish the weeds on both sides of the bridge , white weedless frogs , fish odd ball stuff that the fish will not normally see 3) Horseshoe pond Merrimack - There is a boat launch on Island road with lots of room to fish. ------- ------ great fishery, gotta learn its in and outs. excellent canoe kayak place. fish all of it. there are some nice drops and holes 4) Mines Falls Park Nashua. There is an extensive network of trails and much of them are adjacent to water. I could use some more intel for this place as it's not exactly clear to me which areas of this park might be best. I'm also not sure what kind of fish are in these waters, or what bait to use. I did get some nibbles on a worm while fishing in the waters just to the west of "Purple-25" -------------- fish all of it that you can,,,, lots of water takes time to learn it. this place is also a great fishery but you gotta put in the time.... it is huge area .. alot of people say to fish the hollis end... i find fish everywhere , lots of weeds lots of structure. ( more largemouth than smallmouth) 2nd launch for Nashua river off of broad st gives some access to some fishing also 5) Some fishing App I have suggested "honey pot pond" in Amherst. However, I went on a reconnaissance mission and couldn't find a spot where a member of the public could access the shore. Please advise. -------- carry in path right next to the store 6) I did find something called "little honey pot pond" nearby. I found a place to park next to a small opening in the shoreline brush. Google earth has it at 5 waterview drive Amherst. 7) There is a canoe-launch area along the soughegan river just past Soughegan high School on Boston Post Road. Has anyone caught anything here? --- sorry , i do not know this one. Baboosic lake.... carry in but i forget where the carry launch is , Round pond Nashua ---- gets hammered with people -- but holds a few nice fish Stump Pond behind Joes diner in Amherst .... big pickerel , i put in a couple trips here every year, always worth my time. gets filled with weeds and PARTS of it partially dry up. The pickerel are surviving and so are the bait fish. Nashua river off of front st / franklin st has canoe/kayak launch to give access to the river. Gets you from Jackson falls area almost all the way back to the bottom of the dam where it falls from stellos ---- (more smallmouth than largemouth) Lovewell pond off of main dunstable rd , some fishing areas , excellent place to catch black crappie and lots of them. watch for snakes ,,,, non poisonous water snakes. --- there are no know snakes in NH other than Eastern rattle snakes that are poisonous.. but they can still bite you Bass pond near lovewell pond --- i have no info for you , never fished it Paddle witches brook in Amherst into 3rd pennichuck pond --- most of the pennichuck is off limits to fishing and being in the woods ,,,,, no boats are allowed in the pennichuck water supply. Merrimack river --- fish the area where the Nashua dumps into the Merrimack ---- very rocky area Sandy pond off of lake st --- 75% is fishable from shore ---- the other 25% is fishable if you are a resident of the pine st housing facility or know someone who is and will fish with you. 100% fishable with a canoe/yak Get a Clarks fishing NH book. --- AVAILABLE AT MANY PLACES. MissouriJacob ---- BOW LAKE !!! RESEARCH AND FISH IT , PARKING CAN BE A PROBLEM 1 Quote

I'm pretty new to the region as far as fishing goes, so I've come here to get some local knowledge. I have a bit of experience fishing for largemouth in the midwest, but none with the smallies so I'm interested in finding places to fish for those. I'll hunt through the forums, but if anyone wants to drop some suggestions for southern NH, that'd be great to hear. Thanks! Tight lines. Massabessic lake in Manchester.About as far south as I get. I'm new to fishing and for the life of me I can't get anyone to tell me exactly where to go to catch fish. Mostly folks will just name bodies of water, like "Merrimack River". Well the river is 3000 miles long and it's not exactly self-evident where a person on foot might be able to access the shore and fish comfortably. I've mostly been forced to just go exploring and so far I've found the following spots that seem reasonable, but would really like more intel if possible. 1) Naticook Lake, Merrimack NH - I've fished from obvious/visible openings along the shoreline near the boat launch behind veteran's park. If you’re looking for some good shore fishing spots I have a good amount I can give you. I live in Amherst and fish a lot of those ponds. PM me and I will give you more info. Quote
Super User NHBull Posted May 19, 2019 Super User Posted May 19, 2019 Got shut out for the first time this Spring on Squam today. Been averaging a couple a day. 15 feet of water, 48 degrees Quote
MartinTheFisherman Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 I just went to Mill Pond in Mines Falls yesterday and had a TON of bites on a ZOOM fluke in Alabama Shiner color in the original size. I hooked a ton but most of them popped off right at the bank, also got some crappie and pickerel. I was fishing it with a 4/0 EWG Red Owner hook Belly weighted, quickly and twitching it near cover. MissouriJacob Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Thanks for the replies, I'm looking into Bow lake as my next stop. Quote
redmexican5081 Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 Had a chance to get out this morning. The wife told me we had someplace to be in the afternoon and asked me not to take the boat out. She didn't say anything about the canoe so I loaded up before sunrise and hit my local pond. Surface water temps started out at 62.6 and were 68.x when I got off the water at 2ish. Took me a while to get on them but once I figured out they were super shallow, like 1', I had some success. They were all tight to the shoreline and buried in the new growth pads. I ended up with 8 for the day, 4 were respectable and 4 were dinks, all on an unweighted watermelon senko. Also got a dozen pickerel or so fishing the deep weed edge casting a white chatterbait with a rage swimmer trailer. 1 Quote
mrcimon Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Hey all. Looking for a place to get some fishing in when I’m up with my girlfriend in Hampstead. Anything with some shore access nearby? Quote
redmexican5081 Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Shop pond in hampstead has access all around it. It's not very big and they did major repair work to the outlet last year so I don't know if it still holds any fish beyond what gets stocked for the kids fishing derby. Hedgehog pond in Salem is the same way but there are decent fish in it. Most of the larger bodies of water in the area are all private shore access, some have ramps or car top access but shore fishing is tough. The Merrimack river or Massabesic in Manchester is probably your best bet for access to decent fishing. 1 Quote
mhtranger Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Just bought my first fishing kayak and was wondering who else fishes from a kayak and are there any groups that get together to fish? I’ve fished the Nashua river behind Stellos and Horseshoe pond. Looking to fish other small ponds that my boat won’t get to. I live in Manchester and will go just about anywhere to fish! Quote
Nashua Nev Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Nutts , Pine island and Stevens in Manchester. All 3 are worth fishing if you take the time to learn them. 1 Quote

Awesome, I kayak fish in the area too. Do you have a Clark's fishing guide? If not, I highly recommend picking one up. There are tons of places around where you live, some of which were already mentioned. You could also try some of the ponds in Dunbarton, Heads pond in Hooksett or Little Massabesic in Auburn. Tower Hill Pond is fishable from kayak as well if you have some way to cart it in; just don't step in the water or you'll get a ticket! Quote
RagingOwl Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 It's been my experience here that fishing vocabulary is somewhat "loose". So in that spirit, i'm going to tinker with the definition of "fishing". In my opinion, putting live bait on a hook, attaching a bobber, and waiting for a fish to bite, is not fishing. That's fish-trapping. Sorry if this offends anyone, but I consider that to be "kid-fishing". It's not very fun to me. So, with that in mind.....is Front Park in Auburn (lake massabesic) a good place for fishing? Or for fish-trapping? Quote
redmexican5081 Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 You can catch fish there but you need to work for them if you are in any of the open areas. Most people enjoy the bobber and worm in the open areas and there is almost always someone fishing there. In my experiences at this location, bass can be found on the northern end of the park where the pads and weeds are or on the southern end by where the culvert is along the rocks. There is better fishing to be had if you use the trail network around the pond and find areas that are harder to access. Quote
YungAngler Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Glad to see this thread still alive. Havent been on the water much last 2 seasons but plan to fish a lot more this summer. 1 Quote

bass crazy Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 Guys it is March 3 2020 and getting close to open water fishing time. Post up any reports on ice out conditions for ponds and lakes in southern New Hampshire. 1 Quote
bass crazy Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 I have not fished Lake Attitash in several years. There have been some big fish taken from there. I primarily fish in New Hampshire. Actually I have not fished in about 4 yrs. Hoping to change that this year.. The boat ramp at Attitash is very shallow requiring you to back your rig in a along way. 1 Quote
NEBass123 Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 Hi All, Robinsons Pond in Hudson, NH opened up completely yesterday. Anyone know if Massabesic is open yet? Thank you! 1 Quote

NEBass123 Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 Thanks and good to know! I am hoping that opens up by the weekend. Does anyone fish at Big Island Pond? It's $35 to get a key there to launch a boat and was wondering it was worth it. Quote

You aren’t allowed to fish boat docks and might have to be a certain distance from ppls property. They’re a lot of rules for fishing. Quote

The guys who monitor the ramp also keep an eye on everything you do on the water. If you canoe or kayak, there is a public carry in launch on the next road over that takes all the eyes off how you are fishing Quote
