I have thrown white or silver spinnerbaits to imitate the alwive in the spring on the main river. I would google alwive and try to match their color with your spinner. There are some backwaters and pockets where I would throw wacky rigged senkos or jigs for largemouth on beds. As bob mentioned, if it is early in the spring then keep it slow. 1 Quote
Knottallthere Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Hey felow anglers got a question for you. I have the following rods/reels: 1:Medium/fast spinng rod/reel 2:med heavy/fast spinning rod/reel 3:med heavy/fast casting rod/7.0.1 reel 4:med/fast casting rod/ lower ratio reel What lines should i put on the reels and for what applications/baits Thanks bassheads! bobh64 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 It all depends on what your using for bait and the rod height. spinning lighter line or thinner braid with floro leaders. casting can handle heavier line/braid. I wouldn't get to technical like the pro's you would just end up going broke. I have only seen 1 10lb fish in NH so we don't have monsters like the south. stay with quality line and correct knots. I currently have my casting set up for froggin, rats, spinning, jigging, chatter baits, crankbaits. My spinning rods handle drop shot, wacky rigged, and my stick baits. with my boat I have about a dozen set up. my lines runs from 8lb - 12lb floro or mono to 20-40lb braid some with floro leaders. 1 Quote

Phil_NH Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Hey guys. Been away from the forums for a while, just wanted say hey and see how folks are doing. Spent the rest of spring, summer and fall pounding away at the Nashua River and had a blast. Went out last weekend with temps rising to scope out the river. I launched the Yak from Tilton st. and paddled up to the golf course. Main channel was clear, but the last remnants of the ice were hanging on to the shore in places (including a few of my honey holes ) . Got myself some electronics setup this year (garmin striker5) and I'm looking forward to trying the unit out soon. Of course it looks like Temps are going to dip down hard on Saturday (20s for a high) but Sundays looking ok with 40s possible. Heck it beats hanging around the house, wife has a big to do list for me . Here's a couple a good ones I pulled out the river in the summer 5 Quote
bobh64 Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Received a invite to join the New Hampshire Aluminum Fishing Series has anyone heard of them? They upped the engine size to 150hp. So now my Tracker Avalanche qualifies. 1 Quote

Phil_NH Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 Got a few pics from last Friday out on the Nashua River, during the snow showers we had. Got 4 pickerel on the jerkbait, no bass. Went out again this Saturday and the coves and banks iced over again from the storms. Went from Tilton to Golf Course and back....nothing. 1 Quote

OneShotOneKill Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 (without giving away top secret locations) where are you guys most excited to fish this year once the ice is all gone? I've got a couple honey holes for the kayak but I'm pretty excited to get out on Winni for a tournament next month. 1 Quote

Is that a kayak tournament? Quote

mjggjm12 Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 I have a pond I did well at at the end of last summer. Not sure how it will be now but I have a fish finder this year to help me find the deep water structure. Quote

Super User NHBull Posted April 12, 2017 Super User Posted April 12, 2017 I could be out on Squam next week. The lower river heard the dam is clear and I hope to hit it Saturday Quote
nhbassin Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Last Thursday I got out for 2 and a half hours in Southern NH and was locating fish on my Lowrance in the 10-14 foot range. I didnt see any activity from bluegill up shallow so I fished a brown/purple jig painfully slow on some deeper drop-offs. The only bite of the day was this chunky, 5.5 pound largemouth. Not a bad way to start the season! 5 Quote
jverrock Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Got out in the kayak for the first time this season was out for around 2 hours had to deal with alot of wind but landed one pickerel better then nothing just good to be back on the water. 1 Quote
pipes18079 Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Been out 3 time recently just can't get into em lol only one landed on jerkbait and one came unbuttoned at boat on a jig. Oh well sure feels great to be out on water again. 1 Quote
OneShotOneKill Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Finally got out in the kayak on sunday. Got about a half dozen between 1-2 lbs. Jerkbait, crankbait, jig. I think it could have been a much better day but the 30MPH wind gusts make things real frustrating in a kayak sometimes. 1 Quote
