I really want to get a jon boat because I'm finally using more rods. I usually will bring my soft plastic rod and jig rod in my kayak but keep more in the car if I want to paddle back and switch out my gear. Small ponds are awesome though. Really get to pick apart the entire pond and also have a great opportunity at catching some goliath fish. Quote
mhtranger Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Bob, that is correct. My dad has a place on there and it is being drawn down from 265 acres to 83 acres. Starting Monday after Labor day 6-12 inches a day will be drawn down so they can start repairs on the d**n. Project is expected to last 12-24 months. Mendums Pond FAQs Quote

Everyone is different but im usually bringing a 6'8-7' mh rod with either 15lb floro or 50lb braid. that way i can fish anything from jigs to stick baits to topwater flukes or frogs. Quote
mebisho Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I hit 3 trips in before re-tearing my bicep tendon. Done for the year. I had a trip planned to Pine Island in Wakefield, now it will just be a boat ride. Good luck to all Quote
mhtranger Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Mebisho, sorry to hear that. I have been rehabbing from that same surgery. 6 months before Doc would let me pick up a fishing rod. Just started a work rehab program so maybe Sept I can get back to work. Need to take it slow and let it heal. Hope it works out for you. Quote
nhpleasantlakebass Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Noticed the big bass are starting to school up in the morning and cruising the shoreline here on pleasant lake. I've seen some huge fish this morning Quote

Smallmouth are fantastic watch out for the sand bar and the lake will be heavily used on weekends. Loon + Pot island has always worked for me and also Sandy point might bring in some also. last time I was there I was able to order pizza to the sand bar for lunch. 1 Quote

The last time I fished it was 4 yrs. They were hanging (smallmouth) on ledges at 15-20 it dont hurt to cast under those docks. I just remember nailing them with rattletraps, tubes and jigs. If you get there early enough hit the shores. the traffic on the lake will dictate where you can fish.for some reasons people like to use those big boy boats on that lake. I also got my biggest smallmouth on the lake leading up to the sandy point. I have never done any of the rivers. Quote
RMcDuffee726 Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Got out for 20 minutes tonight. Caught a nice one and had to leave right after, I wish I could have stayed! Quote
BassHunter 66 Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 Hit Onway lake yesterday with my son for a couple hours, low water, a couple bites, no fish temps in the low 80's....ugh! Hitting Winnisquam in the morning 1 Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 5-10 on a buzzbait makes this my biggest of the year... Summer has been pretty busy with work and preparing for college and I've only manged 5 fish over 4 lbs this season. Moving into school Friday (University of Maine) which has me pretty pumped! Definitely going to try to be more active on the forum again during the winter anticipation and next spring. 5 Quote
