A bass fisherman's worst nightmare happened last week. I blew the powerhead in my Mercury. I think my season is done after only 6 trips out. Im getting quotes from $3-$5K to repair with a new powerhead. Used O/B's arent that much more expensive. I have no clue what I am going to do. With my wife being pregnant with twins due in August I can't afford to repair the motor, even if I had the money to do so. Aside from losing a family member, this is the worst i've felt in my 31 years on earth. She was my baby.

Sorry to hear that man.  We will have to pick a day and get you out in my small boat.

A couple fish from the past week.

An interestingly colored 3 lb 14 oz Champlain Smallmouth

A 6 lb 0 oz largemouth

The bigger bass have been biting the first 3 weeks of the season !

Nice fish again Mainebass! Well done.

I was pretty excited to get some good bass out of Lake Champlain. I like that place more and more each time I fish it.

Finished fishing Swains. I just could not get the big bite going almost 2 dozen rats  but nothing bigger then a pound. I think with the front going through the big fish are holding back at least thats my excuse. This was after I took my truck battery out to jump start my boat motor then ripped my jeans requiring a hook and fishing line repair on the lake. But once the dark clouds started to pop up it was time for me to get off the lake. hope other people had better luck then me today.

Fished my spot out in Northwood the other day and saw the biggest hog I have seen up north but no matter what I threw at it............he wouldn't give. I was watching him cruise back and forth for a good 45 minutes and I even pegged him in the head with a jig.............. so disheartened lol

Also giving out the location of my spots to a couple more lowkey people. PM me if you visit the Northwood area.

Lucas pond has a lot of pressure from the local kids. It could have a state record in there, ive seen 8 pounders come out of there. Sadly you can't fish there after dark and its a real shame but the state hates the fact that the bass are in there. The fishing quality has gone down there in the last 5+ years.

Hit Lucas pond in north wood nh. Big bass no motors allowed and I'm telling you the state record could be caught out that pond

There was but it was not properly documented. 11+ lbs so it's not recognized and the person put it back into the pond. It is a state trout pond so there are fishing restrictions as well as when the pond is closed to all fishing.

I just got a few days at a resort in Lincoln comp'd in the first week in June. Any recommendations for good kayak fishing within reasonable driving distance?

Thanks, in advance, for your help....  buying my non-resident fishing license after I post this....  looking forward to a few days of 'uninterrupted' fishing.

Who is fishing this weekend ?

I'll be out there. finally got some time off from work gonna go see if Northwood Lake has picked up yet. Water temps were cold a week ago hoping the warm temperature brings out some activity. Lake gets a lot and I mean a lot of pressure. Will see how it goes either way fish or no fish still better than sitting at home.

I will be. I have the next week off to fish starting...now! The smallies are gonna have a rough week.

heading south on 93, just after exit 28 there is an oxbow of the river that has great largemouth and is perfect for a kayak. Its intimidating to drive down a steep bank off the side of the highway to get to it, but ive done it in my Hyundai elantra many times and have caught some chunky bass there. Definitely google earth it before going

Hoping to be on Greateast Sunday. I haven't heard much of a big bite going on on the eastern part of the state here. Good luck everyone.

Here's the best one of the day, photo doesn't do it justice but she was a real chunky fish... Drop shot and jigging most of the day, this one came on a blue craw jig combo with a DB craw on the back..

Salmon

I got out to cast from shore the other day, and the smallies were hitting jerkbaits again. However, before I caught any bass I hooked up with, second cast of the day, a 3lb 5oz salmon.  I knew right away it wasn't a bass, but was not expecting a salmon at all.  I've received some strange looks the past few days when I tell people that I went smallmouth fishing and caught a salmon which I thought of as a "nice bonus fish."    They look at me like I should be salmon fishing and consider a bass a bonus fish...  But I'm quite happy bass fishing and don't plan to switch it up any time soon..or ever.

I hope everyone was able to get out for a bit this past week.  I'm interested to see/hear about Mainebass and Shane's fishing trip- guessing there was a fish or two caught between you both.

Hi Everyone.

Got out to Spofford on Friday and hit Highland in Saturday. Spofford was great fishing, and we caught big smallies and LMB all day long. Highland was a little slower, but we still managed to catch some nice fish. I lost a 5 to 6 pounder at the boat right off the bat that morning, so that was tough to get over. Otherwise a great couple of days.

The big bite on my side of the state is on (not as big as MaineBass) biggest was 5.4 but lots of 2,3,4 pound fish almost 4 dozen at Great East lake, also I caught a 2.2lb crappie I know nothing about these fish except they are eating mostly down south what got me was the fact I have been fishing this lake for almost 40 years and never caught a single one till today. I sent a pic to my buddy and he got upset because I put it back into the water. No bass beds but I did see more crappie on a couple beds. pumpkin seed green 5" Chigger craw on a 1/2 black jig was the over all favorite today. I tried rage craws but they wanted something bigger. I threw it at any cover then just dragged it back to the boat mostly on shores that had rocky banks towards 15-20 feet of water. The second basin was where I caught the most today. 65 degrees while the river was at 62-63

Great East crappie

I did weigh it but I forgot the measure it, for scale my sandal foot is 12 1/2 inches long.

We stay at Paradise Point, they have docks for the boat and are real nice people.  This will be the forth year going up, learning more about the lake every year.  We are staying through Friday this time.  We always catch a lot of smallmouth, and have caught 1 largemouth.  In the office they have a picture of a 8 pound largemouth caught there a couple of years ago.  (but I love the smallmouth)

Fished pleasant lake saturday. both the large and smallmouth are on beds...bed fishing isn't really my jam so it was a slow day.

brought the girlfriend over to turkey pond yesterday. seemed like the bass were already in shallow vegetation guarding fry there, few fish caught..nothing to call home about.

Last Saturday Shane J and I went out fishing for the day. We got out on the water at about 515 am. The wind was calm and the morning bite was pretty good. We were getting some consistent action on a jig with a rage craw. Towards the end the day the black flies got pretty bad... and so did the fishing. From about 10 am on we struggled to put fish in the boat. We saw a few smallies on beds but wanted to concentrate on Largemouth.  It was a tough bite to get. After the initial morning bite we had to work to get one or two bites an hour. By the end of the day we had put 17 bass in the boat. A 6 lb 3 oz largemouth was lunker. Caught on a jig.
