It is definitely not a fair and equal world thats for sure.  As far as the Pennichuck i stick to only fishing the road areas now.  I know the police just stopped someone from putting in a kayak in on tinker rd. --  good timing , bad timing to get caught just depends on what way you think about it.   And they have tripled the # of no trespassing signs   where Tinker has the bridge going over the highway.  They dont want anyone in there anymore since 911 , but they have just started to enforce it the past year or so.   According to Tom ? ( a fish and game officer who checked my license while i was there)  Fishing from the road side if ok ,  they  dont want anyone in the woods, no waders (i asked)  and no watercraft of any kind.    I did ask about Witches springs brook in Amherst bringing you into the 3rd? pennichuck pond. It is about a 20 minute paddle with  the current to get to the pond , and a 20 minute paddle out the other end ending behind the church in nashua off of amherst st across the street from cvs pharmacy.   He did not know about it. and basically said to have fun.   Enough from me on this subject.  I wish it was legal , like it is in manchester (massabassic)   but it is not.

Has anyone fished the 3rd? pond ?  is that the correct name?

Fishing last night was pretty fun. The buzzbait bite was on fire. always fun catching them topwater like that at night. Fished a new lake today for 5 hours or so with the girlfriend. Caught a bunch of bass. No hawgs. Tourney tomorrow then hawg hunting Monday.

I've yet to get out this year for some true night fishing, but it's coming soon. I love me some topwater in the dead of night, no moon, and calm conditions. Nothing like those heart attack-inducing blow ups! My favorite has been the Black Neon Rage Shad for a few years, and it never disappoints for mind blowing explosions in the nastiest of weeds. Good times!

Had a great time with Jitter yesterday, checking out a lake new to me. We were on fish immediately, doubling up with nice, healthy, chunky smallies on our very first casts of the day. The action didn't stay that hot all day, but we did have them figured out, boating many fiesty smallies all day. We managed (for the most part), to stay outta where we were only catching little guys, and went for the bigger bites. We didn't get into any hawgs yesterday, but sure had fun trying!  Thanks again, pal, let's do it again!

Obviously, our friend Jitter's fishing skills are better than his photography skills, but here's one from the day. (just kidding, buddy! Those sun shots can get ya!)

Ever have a day so perfect it messes up the fishing? That's what happened Sunday at Moose Pond with 21 boats The winning bag was just a little over 16 lbs for 5 fish weigh in. I had my limit with just over 9 lbs. It was one of those hard blue bird days of fishing in very very clear water.

This past weekend was some pretty tough fishing. The night bite was hot Friday night. No lunkers but 3 over 3 and only fished until 11, lunker was 3-8. Saturday I went in the afternoon with my girlfriend and ended up catching 17 the biggest coming on a buzz bait, it was a skinny 3-6. Fished the Moose pond tourney on Sunday and it was super tough. Caught a bunch of small fish but the better fish eluded us. We finished in 5th with 12.14 lbs I think. The fishing sucked. Fished yesterday with my dad. We got out on the water late and left early. It was tough fishing but we still caught 21 bass between the two of us none over 3 lbs. Overall the fishing this weekend sucked. Post spawn blues for me.

I am heading out fishing at work  this afternoon in the rain. Calm winds and rain = good fishing. I will be tossing around a spinner bait and a chatter bait. Should be a blast !

Tinker road in Nashua / Merrimack is all public water supply.  No boats , Kayaks , waders , etc...   fishing only from the road areas with no water contact.   For the last 40+ years i have fished it.  In the last few years they have really cracked down and only allow fishing from the road areas.  No more walking in the woods thru the trails etc...  We (my now 15 yr old son) walked a bunch of the area to fish it in the past but were told by fish and game the area is now off limits to being in the woods.  We were told fishing from the road is area is fine. They dont want anyone in the woods anymore.     There are many many many new no tresspassing signs.

Went fishing in the rain yesterday after work with a buddy of mine, Tom. Got on the water about 4 o'clock and fished until dark. It was raining pretty hard but the wind was calm. The water temp was 72 degrees and the air temp was 70 degrees and humid.  Motored 20 minutes across the lake to my first spot. First three casts we caught 3 bass on chatter baits. Its a pretty good spot an underwater point that is weedy 200 yards off shore and a drop off from 7 to 33 feet. We caught several more fish before leaving including a couple on a rubber worm. Motored over to the next spot and with the help of my gps stopped just within casting distance of it. It is a milfoil bed in 6-8 feet out water next to a drop off that quickly goes into 14 ft. The first couple casts we caught a couple more fish all about 2 - 2 1/4 lbs. Before continuing up the shoreline we caught a couple more fish. Working up the shoreline we caught a bass here and there and then it slowed down. Moved to the next spot which is way off shore but only in 8 feet of water. We quickly pick up another couple fish including lunker for the day at 3 lbs 7 oz. After that  spot quieted down we worked the shoreline back to the ramp. We got off the water at about 9:15 pm. It was a pretty good afternoon of bass fishing in the rain. Between the two of us we caught 25 largemouth and 4 pickerel. We caught fish on chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, rubber worms and top water poppers. The chatterbait produced best for us. It seemed that most of the fish in this particular pond are in there summertime spots. Although we did catch a few fish shallow and at a couple springtime spots the fish certainly seem to be in early summer spots. I will be heading back out this afternoon taking another friend out fishing.

I stopped by Mt.Williams pond today for about an hour because I was passing through Weare. Caught 4 decent smallies within a half hour and missed one about 2.5 lbs. It's a designated trout pond but there are a whole bunch of smallies in there that hardly anyone targets. They fought extremely hard for their size and I will definitely go back to fish it more thoroughly.

Enjoyed some of the meanest top-water strikes I've ever seen this afternoon.  The smallies were getting completely airborne hitting my walking bait.  For the most part they were 2 1/2lbers- there were a couple dinks mixed in but I'll take them all.  I was getting them either right along the shoreline (they were pretty beat up and clearly still on beds guarding fry) in a foot of water, or out over a growing weed bed. The weeds aren't to the surface yet but I remember where they were last year so I was casting to that area and getting bit.

Went fishing after work yesterday. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, a cold front had been pushing through all day. It was 75 degrees outside and the water temperature was around 72 degrees.  A high pressure system was moving in and the barometric pressure had been rising all day. The forecast for the afternoon was for calm winds. Got to the lake and the wind was blowing out of the north 10-15 mph with gusts to over 20 mph/. There were some serious waves and a couple white caps. I had only  5 hours to fish and 2 batteries. So I decided to go anyway. Fought the wind all the way to my first spot. I caught one fish on a rubber worm and then couldn't get a bite. Went to a drop shot and drop shot and immediately caught a couple 12 inch monsters. Fished the spot for another 20-30 and caught nothing but a 10 inch pumpkinseed. Apparently the fish weren't biting well. My next really good spot produce 2 fish, one of them was a 2 lber. Fishing was slow and tough. I spent 3 hours in the upper section of this lake and caught 5 bass and 4 pickerel. It was 730 pm and it was time to adjust my game plan. I decided to make a move out into the main lake. The wind had calmed considerably and shifted to a slight almost calm wind out of the south. Once I got to my favorite spot on the main lake I started catching fish and better fish then I was catching in the upper end. My favorite main lake spot was producing fish after fish.  After working the area over with a drop shot and a rubber worm I decided to try a jig. I was casting to the deep side of the drop off in 16 feet of water. Let the jig fall and fall and then my line jumped. Set the hook and the fight was on. The fish was pulling pretty good and wrapped me in some super thick weeds. Then it got stuck in the 4 feet of thick grass on bottom. I went over to where it was and.... the fish got off. That was sad. I saw the bass and it was a giant but it was a solid 4 lber. Bummer. I keep on fishing the area picking up a decent fish here and there. The biggest being a little bit over 18 inches. The bite was pretty consistent right up until dark. Finished the evening with 14 bass, not bad considering how tough it was at the start. I caught most of my fish after the wind shifted, the front passed, and after I changed my game plan. Most of my fish were caught in or next to deep water 12-33 feet deep. Seems as if these fish were in summertime mode. Heading back to the lake this afternoon.

Had my best day fishing ever yesterday.  Was on the Quabbin Resovoir in Petersham, MA at 6AM.  We fished for about 2 hours with top water baits with no luck.  Finally around 10 AM we started catching fish.  My buddy hooked on to a 3.5 large mouth then seconds later I caught this 4.5 pound smally.

IMG 1363

We then got 2 at the same time.  A 3.5 and 4.5 respectively.

IMG 1400

We caught 8 SM all over 4 pounds and 2 that just hit 5 on the boga grip.  Pretty incredible day.  All fish were caught close to shore but in deep pools 15 to 30'.  Used a drop shot and 1/2 oz jig with craw trailer for most of the day.  My buddy used jigs and worms all day.  The smallies were schooling and hitting our lures hard.  I'm going to try and get back there again next week.  I cannot say enough great things about the Quabbin.  Here are some more pics including my 5 pounder.
