PLombard68 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Nope , not Pinnacle.  I have been looking for access there also. It is after that and before the Liquor store.   I actually parked next to the loaders that are parked there for working at the rest area. Ahhh, I got ya. Near the sand and gravel pit. The only place I can see access to Pinnacle is at the end of Ardon. NHF&G actually has a map showing it has shore access only. Quote
bobh64 Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Did Cobbosseecontee today. I took two other people who have never fished it before. Almost two dozen fish. My biggest was 4.5 the biggest on the boat was 5.5 and I lost 7-8 pounder right next to the boat when my drag failed on my spinning rod. One of the people in my boat even caught one using his possum top water lure which is over a foot long the wind was brutal today on the lake 25+mph. Surprisingly wacky rigged senkos caught all the big fish today. 2 Quote
BassHunter 66 Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 heading up to Northwood lake this weekend anyone know what works there? fished there twice and had bad & no luck with texas rigged senkos, rage craws on stand-up jig heasd werent any better. At a loss! temps are around 70+ Quote
clr9933 Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Yesterdays tournament didn't go quite as planned. It was on the very southern end of Champlain and the fishing was tough. Finished in 4th place again. We needed a good kicker fish and we would have had a very good chance at winning. I have fished three tournaments this year and finished in 4th place in all three of them. At least I am consistent I guess. Mainebass where'd you end up fishing down south? I have a tournament this Sunday out of South Bay. I'll be a coangler so I won't have a say in where we fish, but just wondering what it was like down there. Also... I don't know how many people you've been fishing against but consistently ending up in 4th place sounds pretty darn good to me! 1 Quote

NHF&G actually has a map showing it has shore access only. I have parked there and walked into Pinnacle many times to fish. I have caught a few bass, both smallmouth and largemouth, but nothing of size. It is difficult because there are trees around most of it, except for small openings every 150-200 feet. I see tons of torn senkos in the water there too, so it definitely gets some pressure. Quote
RMcDuffee726 Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 No one has ever bothered me. I fish right from the shore at the roads in several places. I clear and plain view. Many times right from the bridge on tinker road. I have never hopped or climbed over or under a fence. all right from Tinker road. I have never fished or tried to fish the Manchester road part of it where it is gated and fenced all around. Although I actually have walked around the new fence on Tinker road where the bridge goes over the highway. They just did a bunch of work and put new fences. They had a problem with 4 wheelers and dirt bikes in this area last year. The fences keep them out. I have been going and fishing Tinker road area right off the side of the road for close to all of my 50 years. My dad brought me just as his dad brought him in the 1940 era. And now i bring my grandson with a bucket of worms. I have been kicked out of Rocky pond in Hollis twice. That is the only place anyone has ever said anything to me. I did park in the area that clearly states for Hollis residents only both times 9 i only know of this launch area) , unloaded my canoe said good morning to 2 people walking their dogs and 10 minutes later as i was getting ready to start paddling the police showed up and asked for my Hollis resident sticker. I was the only vehicle there. this was about 5:30 am. So i loaded back up and left. I drop my kayak in the "Public Water Supply" all the time. Â If I see a decayed beaver floating in the water, there should be no reason that I can't drop a clean kayak in the water. Â Lost a 5+ the other day there. Quote
jverrock Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 A little night fishing in the pennichuck got her on a black jitter bug Quote
Nashua Nev Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 If you are putting in the Pennichuck public water supply it is illegal. I know people do it, but it is still illegal.  I fish it from the road all the time. this is legal according to fish and game.  I really wish i could legally put my kayak or canoe in there.  Same with watching people.  Nice job with the black jitterbug. those things work fantastic. some nights fast , some nights slow. Really like them on full moon nights Quote
bobh64 Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Be careful with public water supply area's most places have strict policy's up to and including the use of deadly force is granted (Maine Standish ramp) Sebago they carry sidearms and will only ask you a couple times to get your feet out of the water before action is taken. I know this seems foolish but it is a lot harder to take contagions out of the water then oil's and grease. As a licensed fisherman you should always set a example, not a excuse to close public access to water ways. 1 Quote

MikeOGNR Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 heading up to Northwood lake this weekend anyone know what works there? fished there twice and had bad & no luck with texas rigged senkos, rage craws on stand-up jig heasd werent any better. At a loss! temps are around 70+ I'll see you on the lake haha. I'll be up at the camp on Sunday-Tuesday. My best advice would be a texas rigged power worm or some kind of curly tail the bass just love them. The key to North wood is finding the submerged rocks and cover that are out of the ordinary. Most people hit the boy scout camp and the islands and all the obvious places. Don't get me wrong this will catch you fish, but there are some submerged places that you can see on a fish finder that is where the big girls are. My uncle has caught multiple 5lb + on the lake and my grandpa holds the record of 8lbs 14oz. PM me and i'll give you a rough idea as to where the spots are. Quote

Mainebass1984 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Â Looking forward to doing some fishing this weekend. I will be doing some night fishing tonight for 3-4 hours. Tomorrow afternoon I plan on checking out a new lake. Sunday is tournament day. Monday the plan is too take my dad hawg hunting, its about time he catches a 6 lber. Anyone else getting out this weekend ? 1 Quote
InfamousBG Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I am going to try to get out on some water this weekend. Dont know if it will be in NH or MA yet. Still no hitch for my truck to pull my boat so it is tough. Really missing Newfound Lake right now. Big tournament on Winni with the NH B.A.S.S. Nation this weekend that I am missing. 1 Quote
clr9933 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Yesterday I spent two hours catching smallmouth on topwaters... So that was great. Every one I caught was real shallow- I was fishing from shore so everything was fairly shallow, but I'd catch more casting parallel to the bank in 3 feet of water vs catching them at the end of a long cast straight out. They were decent fish but I imagine the big ones are sitting out deeper at this point. I'll take a consistent topwater bite anyway though. Good luck this weekend guys, sounds like there's some tournaments going on so hopefully those go well for ya! 1 Quote
bobh64 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 The big ones I have caught this week have been right on shore in inches of water or standing in the cabbage. Your doing the right thing casting parallel. Tourney on Moose Pond, Maine Sunday for me. 2 Quote
Nashua Nev Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 anyone here fished Little Island Pond in Pelham ? I may have an opportunity to fish there. Quote

Bassintheweeds Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Tournament Sunday on Thompson lake. Fishing has been reall great in the area hopefully it's the same. Like bob mentioned I've been on some better than decent fish in nearly inches of water. Lost a few trophy fish in the last week but hopefully I'm saving it for when it counts Quote

Well the lakes deepest part is around 22-23 ft. I like to call Northwood the big POOL TABLE because no matter where you drive on that lake you literally are always gonna see flatness. Except for the areas I pointed out to you which took me a lot of time to find, but I am sure they will produce also I would look for 8-10ft range for the bass in that lake that's where I usually catch them. Another tool that worked for me was the Rage Craw rigged Texas style they slammed that. Quote

YungAngler Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Been getting into some nice fish the past few weeks. Nabbed my biggest smally of the year - 3.5 pounds. This is from a NH lake. But my best day came on the Quabbin on Wednesday. Got a bunch of nice fish, nothing under 2 pounds. But the catch of the day belonged to my buddy. Beautiful SM tipped the scale at 4.5 - pic doesnt do it justice. Biggest one I've seen this year. I know this is a NH thread, but the Quabbin is simply amazing. Just a peaceful pristine place to fish. I'll be going back next week before the bass head deep for the summer. If you've never been, I highly recommend it.    Quote
Beverly Bassman Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 I'm pretty sure violating a public water supply like you are is now considered an act of terrorism. Good luck with that. I have no doubt there is strict enforcement of some public water supply locations. I can tell you there is zero enforcement at others. At one of them in the next town over from me, when the police catch someone fishing there, they say "this is not allowed, you have to leave soon" then they take a telescopic rod out of the squad car and fish with the person for a few minutes. Then they make them leave. I have seen this happen many times while I am on my morning run. My issue with the whole thing is the inconsistency in policy. If boating and fishing are so bad for the public water supply, then why us it routinely done in the western US? When I lived in California, all the Water District reservoirs were fishable. Now a few have been closed because of invasive species (mussels) that clog up the water equipment. That is a legitimate issue. But other than that, what is the big problem? One small water supply reservoir near my house is now closed to fishing after being open for decades. I went to the water planning board meeting to ask why. They said the two older couples who live on the reservoir complained that teenagers were dumping "oil or gasoline" into the lake. So the solution is to permanently punish fisherman??? I get the feeling those people wanted to have the pace all to themselves. Quote
