jaystraw Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Nice fish guys!  I got out this morning in the canoe until the rain at 12:00pm. I caught a good amount of fish around beds, the biggest being a 3 lb 6 oz LMB, and a 2 lb 12 oz LMB. I've got a pic of the 3 pounder, but it;s terrible so I'm going to skip posting it. Mainebass1984 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I fished for about 10 minutes about an hour or so after dark. On the 3rd cast with my spinnerbait I got a 4 lb 1 oz largemouth. Then it started down pouring and I left. 1 Quote

Nashua Nev Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 fished little Ox pond in downtown Nashua this morning. a dozen or so the biggest being only 13 inches.  I fished only about 1/3 of it.  My plan was to head directly to the other side but there was already 3 people on shore and 2 kayaks so i fished the end i had already fished yesterday but fished it more thorough and deeper into the weeds.  Same result as yesterday. lots of little pick ups and small fish.  Will hit the other side before work one morning next week.  Its a hidden little place that i never knew about till a month ago, and i have lived here for 50 yrs !!!    It is sandwiched between the Nashua Canal and lower part of the Nashua river. Its about a 4 minute walk with the canoe on wheels down a dirt travel way.  It is accessed from a dirt road in back of the old Millyard.   Good for a quick trip before work. I can get out of the water be loaded and ready to go to work 4 minutes away into downtown.  My buddies hit Baboosic this morning but i had to work before 8 am.  there has to be some bigger ones in there , i just have to find them. PLombard68 Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Got out yesterday morning at Massabesic and had a fair day catching 10 bass, mostly LM with a few SM. Most of them were small though around 1 - 1 1/2 lbs with the exception of a 2.5 lb I caught on none other than a darn rooster tail while fishing for trout...lol. Yes I was using a underspin rod n reel. It's my trout pole but when I couldn't hook into any trout I figured I go for bass and didn't have my bass pole with me..lol   2 Quote

Nashua Nev Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Jitterbug, Forget about the fishing for the night and enjoy your prom or hers which ever it may be. Most people only get one of these in their lives  Enjoy it and Be careful out there.  This time of year the fish will wait for you. They are not going anywhere for a few days. Super User Shane J Posted May 25, 2014 Super User Posted May 25, 2014 K, so I got out yesterday morning for a few hours, and managed to catch 13 bass, and about 45 thousand pickerel. All my bass, except a couple tiny skaters, were what I call slot fish. All between 16"-18", so nothing impressive.  Most of the fish I caught, were back out in the staging areas, even though the spawn has most definitely been on. Saw lots of beds, but no fish on them. Baits that were good to me yesterday, were a Black/Blue Rage Grub on a drop shot while the clouds were in early. Watermelon Red Cut'R Worm on a drop shot after the sun came out. jig/Rage Craw in Green Pumpkin, and my biggest came on one of Big O's swimbaits. Getting my plan together for the day, but I'm hoping to be on the water in a couple hours. 2 Quote

Phauren Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Ok I am alive! I did a bit of fishing last month at my secret spot in Northwood and caught a couple 3 pounders then went home to North Carolina and caught a 7 pounder while fishing for catfish at night with minnows. Should be heading back up to NH sometime this summer. Quote
Fly_Fisherman Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 After returning from Salisbury I hit Horton's Pond in Mont Vernon today, a lot of short strikes and watched a few fish even inhale my jig but I just couldn't set the hook. Does anyone have any info about the pond? With all the structure in there I figure there should be some pigs. Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014  Fishing this past weekend was exceptional. I usually take a friend of mine fishing this weekend ever year. More often then not we go smallmouth beds fishing. It is fun we catch lots of fish but this year we decided to go fishing for some hawg largemouth. We fished all day Saturday and Sunday as well as 4 hours on Monday. In the three days I caught 46 largemouth and 24 smallmouth. My friend caught a bunch of bass as well including the three biggest bass of his life. The weather was very perfect for fishing. It was in in he low 70s each day and we had passing showers each day with relatively calm conditions. The water temperature was as warm as 65 degrees. It was mostly cloudy each day. There were still some smallies on beds but we were already seeing bass fry. We concentrated most of our effort fishing fro big largemouth. We caught them on a variety of lures, plastic worms, jigs, spinnerbaits, crankbaits and even caught a few on a frog. It was an amazing weekend. Each day we caught some huge bass. For the 3 days between the two of us we caught 7 bass larger then 5 lbs and a few very heavy 4s as well. We landed quite a few fours and a bunch of 3s. It was the best weekend of fishing that my friend and I had ever had while fishing together. It was a great time for sure. It was a bummer losing a ginormous lunker on one of the last cats of the day but, such things happen. I think that my friend will want to go fishing to that lake again soon.  6-2  5-5   6-12   5-7   6-0   5-5   5-14  6 Quote
