Mainebass1984 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Mainebass where are you headed Saturday? Not sure exactly. I will be checking a few places this evening. I may have to go to arrowhead but first I went to check around. Quote
MikeOGNR Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I probably do best with inline spinners for trout. Panther Martin Black with gold in 1/16 oz. is my go to lure for stocked trout around Southern NH. If I'm going somewhere with native trout, I'll up the size to 1/8 oz. If you aren't using an ultra lite rod with low lb. test, you would probably be better off using 1/8 oz. Thanks for the tip man. I don't know if the trout are stocked around here maybe. Also do do you think its still too cold of water temps for them to be active? Quote
Nashua Nev Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Here is your current list of stocking. they started last week. Yes , some of us do fish for other stuff. we also hike and hunt. 1 Quote
MainelyBASS Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Caught this guy yesterday on Mousam Lake. I only had a chance to get out for a few hours after work, but managed 6 fish. 4 Bass and 1 brookie and 1 brown. Quite a few lakes open in York County now. 7 Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted April 18, 2014 Super User Posted April 18, 2014 whats up fellas!!!? ive been looking for the NE Monthly tourney Jitterbugg are you doing it again this year? Quote
MikeOGNR Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 The trout in my profile pic was caught with a 1/16 oz black/gold Panther Martin. She weighed 4 lbs. Was a great fight on my ultra lite rod with 4lb. Floro. That was up north at the CT River. Do you also use worms or anything on the spinners? Quote

Is the lake all open? there is a open tourny on it Sunday and great choice for a boat Quote

Also do do you think its still too cold of water temps for them to be active? If you do a google search for "NH fish stocking" It will bring you to the NH Fish & Game stocking report. It shows you week by week where they have stocked. It is a week behind so a place may be stocked already that isn't showing up yet. You can also look at past years reports to see which places they do stock. I'm going to the Exeter River this weekend. They started stocking three weeks ago and the Exeter River isn't on the reports yet. But I'm pretty sure they stocked it sometime this week. Hope I'm right. Trout are cold water species. This is the perfect time to catch them. The colder the water, the more oxygen it holds. Trout need high levels of Oxygen. That is why they are stocked now. Most, if not all of the trout stocked in the Exeter River will die during the summer when the water gets too warm. Quote

Yea haha I didn't really think on that one I might try tomorrow some if I can find a place to go I have quite a few inline spinners lying around that never get used anyway so hey might as well give it a shot where do they like to hangout on the rivers. Rocks, Deep pools, sides of the river? Quote
KlubbaT Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Do you also use worms or anything on the spinners? No. I never use worms or any bait when fresh water fishing. Salt water is another story. I would think if you put anything on an inline spinner, it would not give you the right action. Wallmart is actually a great place to buy trout lures. Quote
Backwoodsbasser Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Any one taking advantage of this moon phase? It's our first significant one relating to a pre spawn movement. I caught my 2 biggest smallmouth tonight at my favorite lake in hampstead. Strike king finesse football jig and rage tail craw both in grn pumpkin. 2 Quote

pipes18079 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I was able to sneak out in boat one day earlier this week to Kingston it was very windy and wet out there. I was able to grab 3 really nice smallies for that place anyways. I don't think smallies are over abundant in there but every year I seem to have a day when I land a few. All fish for the day were caught on a suspending jerk bait with a decent pause. Couldn't buy a large mouth out there only a few pickerel to show for my efforts later on in the morning. Quote
Fly_Fisherman Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Got out for a bit today before watching the lacrosse game and got this guy on the first cast with a home made spinnerbait. Spring is here! 4 Quote

NEjitterbugger Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 18-10 victory yesterday! I had 4 goals, great start to the season... Hoping to get out on the canoe tomorrow! 1 Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 19, 2014 Super User Posted April 19, 2014 Did a couple hours today. It was more windy than forcasted, so I didn't wanna stay out too long. I did get on some fish, though, just no big ones. 6 total, 3 on cranks, 3 on a jig/D.B. Craw. None bigger than 2.5lbs, though, but considering this place iced out yesterday, and the warmest water I found was 43 degrees, I'll take it. Got to try out some new equipment, and it felt good to be back on the open water. Hope some of you guys got out and hooked a few, too! 2 Quote
clr9933 Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Sure is nice to see people posting pictures of fish finally, good job fellow bassers! 1 Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 20, 2014 Super User Posted April 20, 2014 It sure is nice to be catchin' 'em in open water finally. Thought winter was never gonna end! Quote
deadliftingdaddy Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I was able to get out to a local farm pond in Epping today. I had better luck 4 on square bill, 3 on chatterbait and 11 on jerkbaits. Nothing big 2 lbs max. I use this pond mainly to gain confidence in baits I'm trying to learn. 1 Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Today was my first day in my boat this year. The lake was 6 feet high muddy and the wind was blowing 15-20 with stronger gust. Water temp was 41 degrees. The strong north wind made it feel much colder then 55 degrees. I fished for 4 hours and caught 2 largemouth both about 2.5 lbs. Both fish bit a jig. I will be trying another lake tomorrow and hopefully it wont be as windy or muddy. It felt pretty awesome to catch some bass ! 2 Quote
clr9933 Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Glad you caught a couple while toughing out the conditions Maine. Quote
jaystraw Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Got out this afternoon for a few hours in the canoe. I got this 3lb'er for my first fish of the year on a Lucky Craft jerkbait. Felt gooood. 4 Quote
Bassintheweeds Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Got out on arrowhead today for an hour hooked up on one about two pounds good to catch a fish on a big lake. 1 Quote
