Super User Shane J Posted April 2, 2014 Super User Posted April 2, 2014 Yup, that's where I was, alright! Between the two of us, he got 2, both on a jig, I got one okay one on a swimbait, and 1 on the drop shot. Then the bohemouth hit me. Caught me off guard, a little late possibly on the hook set, and there ya have it. A lost monster. Dam, she was beautiful! 1 Quote
bobh64 Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 So I just found out that for High School bass fishing the teams that place 1st and 2nd from each state go to the national championships in Tennessee (4 day event) ! This year we came in 3rd place in the qualifier for the championships and we had a bad day in the championships besides my PB smallie at 3.48lbs and came in 6th out of 11 teams in the championship which was pretty dissapointing. So the teams who finshed 1st and 2nd will be in TN for nationals this July, I know our team can win this! We need to look at this one tourney at a time, we need to qualify for the state championship, and then finish top two there... To be honest if we got dead last in nationals I wouldn't really mind, not saying we wouldn't be able to do good down there but the experience who be incredible! The winning team gets quite a bit of prizes from the BASS sponsors and scholorships from Bethel Universtity and even BASS. And one angler from the winning team gets a spot on the Bethel University Bass Fishing Team. I'm SO SO SO determined to make it to nationals! We have our captain from last year for the qualifier and Shane may captain us for the championship, I know we can do this! Fly Fisherman, our two other friends on the team and I are really gonna dig down! Keep your dreams big NEjitterbugger. When I was younger I qualified as a non-boater to fish the regional federation fish off for B.A.S.S for a spot on the Classic. our state(Maine) finished 4th I contributed 2 bass for weight on what was considered the toughest fishing they ever had on the CT river (up to 10 inches of rain fell the week before) add to it being tidal and striped bass it was interesting. One week of fishing with the best 12 other states had and the fact everything was paid for made it memorable. I retired tournament fishing when my son was born but I still cherish my patch and memories. So remember the sky is the limit! 3 Quote
MikeOGNR Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Oh, and just an hour ago, I lost the biggest smallie of my life at the boat. Went down to lip a humongous fish I caught on the drop shot, and she got off on me. Easily somewhere between 6-7lbs. Absolute beast! The guy I was fishing with was speechless! All this talk about you guys catching good ones is making me itch to go out. Just waiting on the roof racks to come in then I'm hitting the river HARD!!!!! Quote
SmalljawNH Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Anyone been on or by Canobie in the last couple of days? Drove by on Tue and it looked pretty grey. Wondering how much ice is there. Going by Mendums today to see how it looks. Edges are pretty open by the pumphouse. It shouldn't take long with this weather. Wind and rain would help. Quote
bobh64 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Unwrapping my boat out of it's cocoon today. Then to a self serve car wash and give everything a good spray wash. Feeling like spring is nearer. 4 Quote
clr9933 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 That's got to be a great feeling bob. Feel free to post a picture after you've gone through the car wash so we can all live vicariously through you while the ice melts. There's a solid snowbank blocking my boat in right now, another two weeks or so and it'll be out (then to the marina for some quick work... hopefully). 2 Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 A couple more weeks and there should be plenty of places that are fishable. Unfortunately for me there aren't any rivers that have bass that are close to me. If I go back to Maine I might be able to find one or two fishable rivers next weekend. Got to register my boat ! Each day is another day closer ! 3 Quote
Spyder Bass Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I to have quite the snow bank blocking my boat too Quote
Mike2841 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Anyone know if they have lefty curado I's up at the hookset bass pro. I ordered one at foxboro during the reel trade in and they still only have righties. Quote
YungAngler Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Dusted off the Nucanoe and got it rigged and ready. Hope to get out on a river this weekend. http://instagram.com/p/mVbQjbszru/# 1 Quote

MikeOGNR Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Aright guys so I take a Machining class at my High School I have been taking it for 3 years now and I have run out of my own projects to build. So I am looking to see if you guys have any ideas with anything that has to do with fishing that I could make out of metal. I can build roughly anything with metal also I can weld pretty decently so the ideas can be anything. Just wondering if you guys have any ideas as to what I should make that would be fishing realated and useful. I made a canoe motor mount for my canoe already. Quote
YungAngler Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Did you end up installing a depth finder ? I haven't pulled the trigger on a depth finder just yet. I can't decide between the Humminbirds or Lowrances. Will be installing one this month for sure. I'm almost 100% sure I'll be going with the "shoot thru hull transducer". I'm am so itching to get out there. Quote
jsc4324 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Nice. I actually went to bps today to look at the lowrance elite 4x but they didn't have any to upgrade from the garmin but I guess that's on hold. I can't wait to get out. Just rigged up a trolling similar to the bassyak for the nucanoe. Couple more weeks before I'll be out. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Jitterbug, i fished maybe 60% out of my canoe last year, maybe 20% out of the kayak. only 10% out of the jon boat with the gas motor, and a little bit out of big boats that other people own. Most big bass don't care what you have for a boat, My big pickerel , canoe. my PB canoe. AND SOME NICE FISH FROM SHORE. grab the opportunities you have now and enjoy them. There will come a time for you , like many of us, when other things take on more importance. Such as -- a 33 yr old son /wife/grandson , 2 in college at the same time and a 15 yr old headed to college in 3 years. ... i consider myself very lucky , and cherish the time on the water. I fished very little , very very little from age 19 - 45. and now the the youngest is 15 i am fishing alone alot. i 1/2 wish the wife would fish too, but at the same time, it is so relaxing and quiet from 4:30 am till 9am a few mornings a week. enjoy your young years, and stay away from those high school girls,,, all they do is complicate things. AND DREAM BIG ... WITH BIG GOALS, 2 Quote

bobh64 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 What exactly do you mean? If you had a picture so I could get the image Google ram mounts you can see all the different styles I have one for my front fish finder its a movable stick type mount. Quote
bobh64 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Has anyone seen the new revo rocket reel? it's a 9.0:1 gear and pulls in 37 inches of line per crank. 1 Quote
Mike2841 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Ya I picked one up on a total impulse buy. It's just like other abu reels but red and faster. Still trying to figure out when to use it Quote
Fly_Fisherman Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Yeah Jitterbug stay away from the girls! That being said Jitterbug and I fished a little bit today, still nothing but the ice is fully melted. I figure by Monday they'll bite. Gotta help my father clean up and sell the Monark so we can bring home the Ranger. It's gonna be a good year! 1 Quote
