I've read different things online, but was wondering if anyone on here knows from experience about the shelf life of flourocarbon?  I have always debated purchasing the mammoth spools of it because it's expensive and I don't want any to go to waste. I only want it for one of my rods that I use very often.  I guess worst case scenario is I change out my line every 30 seconds like the pros.  If a big spool of it were to sit inside at room temp how long would it be safe to use?

Pshh remember Shane Under dogs always come out on top ill get that 10lber haha

I am going for the Maine record. That fish will have to be at least 11-11 !

The first jig I'll soak this year will be this, with a Rage Grub trailer.... I think it looks REALLY sweet!

And I'm really looking forward to hitting spoonwood for the first time where I'll throw this with a DB Craw.

Man, I hope you get her, Mainebass!

And Clr, flouro lasts a heck of a long time if you don't have it in sunlight, or extreme temps. Go ahead and get the big spool, and if you ever feel it's giving you an attitude, just soak a rag with Line and Lure, and reel in the whole top half of the spool through that rag, while pinching it tight. No more memory, and nice and clean line that is free of all the deposits that build up on our lines.

Thank you Shane, that's what I was hoping to hear!  Good tip also, wouldn't have come across that anywhere else online.

No problem. There's such a huge difference in your line after you treat it like that. A lot of crap builds up, and you don't really notice it until you clean it. I do it by casting a 1 oz jig as far as I can, and squeeze the rag tight on the line as I reel it back in.

Seems that I will be back in NH this summer for a few weeks.

Biggest bass caught in NH will be with one of my chatterbaits with a soft swim bait(haven't figured out exactly which one) trailer.

Will be working a pattern based on what I find for temps but I do know it will involve Senko's, chatter baits with a minnowz attached to the hook and some sort of  suspending stick bait.

You all have good plans of attack. Gonna be a great year!

Phauren, a Chatterbait-style bait with a swimbait trailer is certainly a big bass tactic, and one that I like a lot. It is right up there with big swimbait (6-8" baits) fishing for big bass. Less bites. Bigger fish. You have a shot at a hawg going that route, for sure.

I hope so I am going for submerged cover all year. Gonna try hard to work the Nashua River for the secret Honey Holes. I know there is a pig in there caught my PB there and I feel there are bigger ones in there in hidden places.

Neverett knows that for sure. He crushes it at the Nashua River all season.

Haha. Man, I think these guys are starting to get it. I'll be all over that jig/Craw stuff, too! I would go on record right now, and say that at least 7 of the 10 biggest fish caught in NH this year on these boards, will be on a Rage Craw. The only thing left to question, is are they all gonna be from me?

Rage craws are def. My go to weather its on a jig ,Texas rigged, weightless so good in so many ways

Hopefully he'll let me in on some tips on fishing it I caught my PB outta there. I have an idea where some of the bass are, but I think there are some deep pockets I haven't found that would be gold mines.

Hopefully this spring I can get into some big bass. Fall is my favorite time for giant bass though. I am hoping this year to catch more and bigger bass ! Hopefully each month 105 inches or 25 lbs in my five biggest bass. I would like to get into some giant smallies too. Still looking for one of those to mount and add to the collection.

Anyone going out on Saturday? Heat wave predicted around me at 44 Degrees!

Does anyone here fish finesse? I feel like I'm the only guy here who doesn't sling a 3/4 oz jig or a huge crankbait 24/7 lol. Don't get me wrong, I definitely believe in the power of a jig but I love drop shotting and fishing a small shakey head on light line. I have a reel rigged with 4lb line (mainly for trout) but I'm going to try to use it for some prespawn shakey heading haha.

Almost all year long I have a 6ft medium action spinning set up with a green pumpkin twin-tail grub w/ exposed hook on it. The weight on the hook goes from 1/16oz to 1/8oz throughout the year but that's it. I have caught some decent bass on it, smallmouth and largemouth, but the point is that it nearly always will catch fish. I started fishing Champlain a lot last year and a drop-shot rig quickly worked its way into my set up. Im still not super comfortable with a drop-shot but have realized that tying it right is important, then just start tossing it where you know some fish are. Small lures get bites right! You've got me beat with the 4lb line, 8lb will probably be the lowest I go this year.

Fly Fisherman, I do fish finesse, just not like what your standard finesse guy does. Most will go silly light with the gear and line, and use microscopic baits for their finesse stuff. For me, I can finesse a 10" worm on 12lb line, or drop shot a 7" Cut'R Worm. I have some smaller baits I use, if that's what I think they're eating, but most of the time for me, finessing is in how much action I impart into my bait, and the speed in which I work a spot. It doesn't always have to mean fishing with mayfly larvae on 1/2lb line. One of my most productive finesse tactics, is a simple Rage Craw on a Moaner Stiffy jig.

That's a good point that "finesse" doesn't have to mean smaller line and tackle.  I remember when the elite series went to Falcon Lake last year Edwin Evers was throwing a "shakey-head," but it was a magnum worm on a "pumpkin ed" jighead.  Kind of a shakey head on steroids.  Not small stuff but still a finesse approach to catching his fish.
