Looking to pair my new Chronarch 200E with a 7' MH baitcaster for jigs.   I own a couple of Shimano Rods that I love but I'm open to any suggestions.  Was unimpressed with the selection of casting rods at the new BPS in Hooksett.

Carlos, my best suggestion for that, would be a Cumara. I know you didn't get any of the casting ones in your hand at BPS, but it's THE rod, trust me. They have a 7'2" MH Fast that would be perfect.

Thanks Shane.  I have some cheaper Shimanos that I've been very happy with.  I guess if it's not broke, don't fix it.  I think it might be time to step up to the Cumara.  Just wish BPS had some to touch - brought my reel with me and everything.  Somehow I remember the Foxborough store having a better/larger selection of casting rods.  It seemed like everything in Hooksett was spinning.  Might be time for a trip to Cabelas.

Going up to the camp tomorrow to do some Shed hunting and to setup my trail cameras and such. Gonna stop at the BPS on the way up seeing as how I go right by it on the way to the camp. Might by just 1 more jig with my paycheck I just got haha gives me an excuse to go into the store again haha. Hopefully gonna check out a spot that Phauren was telling me about at an undisclosed location lol.

How is the fishing at great east ? A friend of mine had a club tourney there a couple year ago. The winner caught exactly one bass. He was the only person to catch a bass...

Take a look on my photo's most of them are on Great East fishing has been getting better all the time I really think the smallmouth fishing is way under rated for that lake and I plan on getting some big brutes this year on it. I have several key spots now that work out well now. it would be a sad day if I dont catch at least a dozen keepers on that lake.

Swains lake

First lake I always fish a small lake to make sure my boat works well (Swains) then I will head to my next two spots Winni and Great East.

Swains lake has some massive bass in it. Its my second favorite 'Lake" to fish behind Bow Lake.

It could have just been a bad day for them I guess. It was early spring very cold and windy. Its good to hear the bass fishing is better there then what I heard. Any 5 plus pounders in there ?

7+ for largemouth 5+ for smallies. Great East does get pressure but you just have to figure out what they haven't seen. Everyone always shore fish in that lake I finally moved out and started hitting them more off shore, It's a deep lake but has lots of steep banks if you know where to look. If your more into just catching bass the the second basin has many in the 3-4 area but the big boys are in the main part of the lake.

It's a fun little lake never caught anything over 5lbs but never been skunked on it either. Once late July comes I can't fish Swains because the weeds get so bad at the ramp. Bow I like to fish but it is a pain to launch a boat there by myself.

Swains lake has some 5+ pounders in it but good luck catching them with all the yuppies who live there now. Theres a guide that used to live on Swains who has a couple of 7 pounders from there mounted on the wall of his man cave.

My Dad's good friend has a camp on Great East. I remember fishing it as a kid. There used to be an island with wild blueberries on it we used to pick. Also I remember there being a little cove with a good amount of lily pads that we used to throw poppers and jitterbugs in there near dusk and bass would be going nuts.

More then likely the islands your talking about is in the second cove, the third cove (small) weeds up with lily pads.

I hear you about the yuppies I reported a couple of them to the game wardens because they were riding jet ski's on a lake that prohibits them. been that way since 1990 for that lake.

Yuppies ruin everything. They are the bane of my existence! Seriously tho, swains has bigger bass then people give it credit for.

If any of you know Bow Lake like I do, the back side *pond* on the other side of Bennetts bridge in northwood has some lunkers. Try to get them early in the year or late in the summer/fall time. Fishing during peak summer is crappy but you can see the big boys and gals swimming through the pipes without a care in the world.

As we all know Jitterbug is in Florida right now fishing where the water is liquid (you have no idea how jealous I am haha), but I made the best of this week. I fished the Contoocook for the past 2 days wherever I could find soft water and I caught nothing but a cold. It was still nice to get out of the house however. Looking forward to spring! Also I'm late to the topic but I noticed you guys were talking about Deering Reservoir and all I can say is that place did not impress me. I'm sure there are some pigs in there but each time I go there I end the day with 50+ smallmouth under 7 inches. Also whoever installed the boat launch there deserves a special place in hell. Just my two cents lol.

I've been to Deering reservoir once just to cruise around and let the kid fish and I can say the launch does suck. It needs to be steeper.

Up at the camp today. No fishing, but I went out to my neighbors bob house on the lake and they were catching perch left and right. Never seen so many bob houses on Northwood in my life

Stopped by the new Bass Pro Shops yesterday. I really like the layout of the store and it is fairly easy to find everything. The only problem I had was that there was a lack of casting rods.  They had a large amount of spinning rods but I Could not find the casting rods I was looking for. I am going to give the store more time because I am sure that they will realize what they need to stock up on.  For those that have visited, what are your thoughts or opinions on the new store?

I like the store I have been 3 times now. I really like the hunting section, but the one thing I really loved was the mounts and the paintings of the store I think they were better than the foxboro store. I also made a trip up there this week. Picked up some Live Target frogs and also saw they added the Pearl and Black Blue Flake Rage Craws. So I picked up those and a White Half Oz Jig. I got enough rage tails spinnerbaits and worms to last 3 seasons haha.

Okeechobee was a bunch of fun!!! Lots of smaller fish and I got one 5 pounder, we were fishing in HEAVY cover it was a blast! After my 5 we went even deeper hoping to find the true giant but came out with nothing bigger, still a blast! And it was nice to break in my T3 Ballistic with 65# braid down there...
