Nashua Nev Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I will take some pics of my Humminbird set up in my canoe, and get my son to post them when he gets here in a bit.  The wood going across the beam support is about 8 inch wide, The shelf bracket i used allows me to have it not move by using 2 bolts with wing nuts, if i take out the lower bolt it pivots up for storage , or when i dont know an area i use only 1 bolt which will allow it to move if i hit something, 1 bolt , also with wing nut attaches the base to the board,   3 minute set up from being completely removed , i use this set up on my canoe , jon boat and kayak. I use the smallest lawn tractor battery i could find to power it. and / or i use the deep cycle marine battery when i have the trolling motor. Some people say using a separate battery is better cutting down on interference from the trolling motor, but i have not seen a difference as of yet. I just saved up the $$ for the humminbird 598 , i have used this unit only 1 time, but i had my cheap craigslist eagle mounted here last week before the new humminbird came in.  I originally used round electrical conduit , but i like the channel of the shelf rod better. The conduit tended to flatted out and move around a lot. Nashua Nev Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I live in Nashua if you want to see it up close.  easy on, easy off Has worked perfect for me. I twisted the shelf bracket in a vice 90 degrees. Not perfect looking but for me it is exactly what i wanted.  Portable , simple , basic.         1 Quote
MikeOGNR Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Looks like a good setup does it read pretty accurate bottom contour? Quote
Nashua Nev Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Yes, it works really well, it is set up so it is deeper than the trolling motor. Quote
bobh64 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Â Â Â Did Lovell lake today a little over a dozen I could not get over how fat the little fish are in this lake both LG and SM. This lake being clear they were hitting on more natural colors for soft bait. For 4 hours it was a good day to be out. Â Â Quote
MikeOGNR Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Went out today before I have to go to work caught 4 fish within an hour and a half. All 2lbs and up biggest being 2.5lbs. It was crazy just how quick the bite picked up today right after the rain. Quote

MikeOGNR Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 These 2 beasts were caught on Northwood Lake by my Great Grandpa. They hold the record on the lake at 8lbs 4oz and 8lbs 14oz. I still believe there are some monsters in this lake. 1 Quote

How much did he weigh? the record in NH for pickerel is 26in 8lbs   http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/Fishing/NH_state_record_fish.htm Quote
Nashua Nev Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 She was feisty , was really tough getting a true and accurate weight , My son kept saying to let her go so she would live, so we did. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 9, 2013 Super User Posted October 9, 2013 I've now caught 2 pickerel bigger than the NH state record. Who cares? I can't stand those fish. I gotta say, though, one that size makes you think for a second that you could have a 10lb bass on the line. Then... limpy. Stupid snot rockets. 5 Quote

So true about the fight, but I don't know I like catching big ones. I can't  stand catching small ones though. Quote
