DevilDoc Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Hey guys, FNG checking in to say "hey". I'm Ken from Hopkinton, raised over in Northwood. I live a half mile from Stumpfield and spend most of my time there, but try to fish a few new lakes/ponds each year. Been lurking for a while, figured it was time to jump in with both feet. Have had a pretty good spring/summer....no PB's, but several piggies in the 4-6lb range. Hey DevilDoc, I am a DevilDog...perhaps we pounded some of the same ground?? Hahaha I did some time at Pendleton and LeJuene, with the Marine Corps budget I bet I had your old rack Hope to see you out there, I'll be in my black hat Quote
Pail Rider Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I did some time at Pendleton I did a few years there too, you probably had my rack, fart sack, sheets, blanket, pillows, sleeping bag, the same MRE's that we picked over...and maybe even hit on the same women out in Oceanside!! Quote

mhtranger Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Welcome, Stump is one of the places I wish I could figure out!! Some days are great and others just stink.... Ever been to little turkey?? Friend fishes there a lot and loves it. David Quote
MikeOGNR Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Grandpa had that place dialed in!! Ohh yea I remember every night he used to have a stringer full of 3-4lb fish then he caught that monster in october Quote

Thank you for your service as well some people don't say that nowadays but most people don't understand what it takes to be a Marine. My bestfriends in Okinawa right now haha that's why I respect you and devildoc 1 Quote
Pail Rider Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Thank you and Semper Fi to your buddy Mike. Can you imagine seeing a stringer like "back in the day" nowadays...people would FREAK! David...Stumps used to frustrate the heck out of me, and I literally hated it. I believe it was Shane that said forget the obvious trees and stumps...spot on advice. Finding holes and punching through the hydrilla and milfoil has accounted for most of the brutes I have pulled out of there including the hog in my avatar. 2 Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Spoonwood smallies... top photo me with a 2lbs 0 oz, the bottom is Fly_Fisherman with a 2lbs 3oz... The craziest thing ended up happening, I hooked into a smallie which i was unaware of because I was doing something else on the boat and it jumped up and spit the hook. We saw the fish and second after it did its jump and spit my hook fly fisherman got him. Weight was 2lbs 10oz but after it was weighed it got into the water without a photo. 1 Quote
mhtranger Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Nice fish. Looks like a good day. Keep up the good job of keeping those lines tight!! Quote
DevilDoc Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 My buddy came up from ct and we did some nite fishing. Got a bunch of bullhead. He got the biggest! Lot of fun. Quote
bobh64 Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 One fish this week not even 12 inches, the lake I went to let the water down early by almost a foot and messed up everything. Even got to watch a Bald Eagle out fish me. Quote

Spyder Bass Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 i caught 2 fish at pleasant pond in henniker. 3/4 of a pound and just shy of 2 pounds. i shouldve had 3 more in the boat but i was letting my 3 year old boy try and reel them in. It looks like they are schooling up here by the looks of my fish finder. and i caught 1 2lber at stumpfield on sat. I love to watch birds fish. Quote
mhtranger Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Fished Stumpfield today for a BBC tourney and finished 5th out of 6 boats. Finished with a weight of 4.33 for a total 3 LM out of a 4 fish limit. Very slow fishing today. Quote
YungAngler Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I'm heading to Burton Island State Park - St. Albans's VT, this holiday weekend. It will be my first time fishing Champlain. Been off the water the past 2 weeks. Can't wait to get out there. Quote
mhtranger Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Fished Powder Mill this morning and caught this one. Slow fishing again and an expensive day!! Need a new prop!! This place is very SHALLOW so boater beware! Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Fishing was good today, lots of 2 pound smallies biggest being 3lbs 3oz. The trip was ruined though, we flipped my canoe... I lost all the rod and reel setups i brought, my cell phone, and some baits... It could have been worse but it really really sucks... Prob lost $250 worth of stuff... Quote

bobh64 Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Sorry hear that, I have done that more then once but this was before we carried phones with us (yes the old days) but the most important part "yourselves" is safe. 1 Quote
Super User Shane J Posted August 26, 2013 Super User Posted August 26, 2013 Nooo waaayyyy! That really sucks, man. Sorry to hear it, but glad you guys are alright. Yeah, you're right. fishing was good today, though. Hit me up, I got a combo you can use till you get setup again, no worries. It's just a Vendetta with a STX on it, but it's got new 17lb flouro so you can still fish jigs, Tx rigs, even light topwater on it. 1 Quote
mhtranger Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 That sucks, I thought my day was bad but yours takes the cake. Glad you are ok and remember stuff can be replaced but you can't be!! Glad you had your vests on. I have any Ugly stick combo you can use if you want. 1 Quote
