Nashua Nev Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Absolutly some fantastic looking fish Shane. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted August 8, 2013 Super User Posted August 8, 2013 Thanks, guys. I'm thinking about heading out right now for some night fishing for a couple hours. Hopefully I can find a fatty or two. Oh, and Beverly, I promise you are going to land a hawg on a Rage Craw, I'm going to see to it! Nice fish, too, by the way. Quote
jsc4324 Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Wow you guys are getting some nice fish. I will admit after seening all of shane j and jitterbugs post it got me wondering. I had a pack of rage craws sitting around and hadn't tried them. I tried them out today with a 3/16 weight and dipped the tips of the claws chartreuse. Holy crap. I fish a lot of senkos and pit boss type baits but the fish literally were slamming these things. And they held up good too. I have not experienced fish hitting a soft bait so hard before. Ill be stocking up on these. It was honestly a whole different strike form the fish. Anyone know a place in snh that sells them or is online best place to buy? Now if I can figure out where you guys a catching the big fish ill be even happier. Quote

Super User Shane J Posted August 8, 2013 Super User Posted August 8, 2013 Yup, they crush 'em. To buy them locally, you can usually find a limited selection at Dick's, but TWH is still your best bet for getting what you actually want. Do yourself a favor, and get at least Falcon and Green Pumpkin/ Purple Gold. That at least covers you in light and darker conditions. If you branch out from there, grab some Blue Craw. Â Ps- On the Chartreuse dipping. Less is more! Take a Q-Tip, dip it in the JJ's, then just lightly rub the swab along the flange part at the tips of the claws. You just want a little extra flash going on there. 1 Quote
jsc4324 Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Hmm I checked nbs as there right down the street they didn't have the craws nor did dicks looks like TW will be getting some money from me. Regarding the chartreuse that was basically what I did. Just a tiny bit. I will buy the colors you recommended. He'll if I have to pay shipping why not get a bunch. blue craw is actually what I was using. Thanks again Shane 1 Quote
Nashua Nev Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Wilderness taxidermy has some (auburn circle) , as does Dicks in Nashua. Dicks had a lot less this past time i was in there than they did 2 months ago. Dicks in Concord had a few also.  I bought some from Bass pro , Cabelas , and Kittery , when i was traveling thru those areas. I try to stay local with my business when i can. As well as family business when i can.  I own a small business which is why i go out of my way to buy small business when i can. Understanding it is not always possible. 1 Quote
Super User Shane J Posted August 8, 2013 Super User Posted August 8, 2013 No problem! Good luck with 'em, not like you'll need luck! Quote

I've been sifting through this thread all day, and def. have found some valuable info. I'm new to the Seacoast area, and I dont know of any ponds or streams nearby w/o venturing up too far Rt 4, that i can hit after work for a couple hours. I fish Medums and Swains on most weekend, in my friends canoe, but it would be nice to have a spot or two closer to Ports to drop a line in after work. Dont want to step on anyones toes, but I'm eager to find some new places in NH to experience. And yes, I'm dying to get a boat, canoe, kayak or pretty much anyhting that can get me closer to the fish. Once again, nothing but nice folks on hear. Much appreciated! Super User Shane J Posted August 9, 2013 Super User Posted August 9, 2013 Carlos, what kind of vehicle do you have, and what kinda boat would work for you? I have a couple connects, and might be able to help. Oh, and don't be afraid to keep on coming up Rt.4, cuz there's some goood water in that area, trust me. Quote
YungAngler Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Shane, I actaully have a F-150. As far as a boat, i'm not too sure. My knowledge of watercraft is fairly limited, but I really dont need anyhting too extreme.  Would love to just have something that with a motor that I can take everywhere. My biggest issue is storage as I live very close to downtown Ports. in a 2 bedoroom apt w no yard or driveway - street parking only. Quote
mhtranger Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Carlos welcome, sounds funny hearing someone else fishing on Mendums. My dad owns on there and we fish most weekends. Red Lund boat. If its not me with my brother it will be him with my dad. Not sure where else to point you because I'm in the same boat as you with not knowing where else to fish?? I have fished on Kingston Lake off of 125 and Swains. Most of my fishing was on Winni but things have changed and no place to keep it up there anymore. Fishing tomorrow on Mendums in the morning so if you are there and see us say hi. David Quote
Super User Shane J Posted August 9, 2013 Super User Posted August 9, 2013 So a jon boat or bass buster would work for you it sounds like, with a trolling motor, battery, an oar, and you're good to go. Quote
YungAngler Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 David, I discovered Mendums when I moved to NH and I absolutely love that place. I usuallly rent canoes from the UNH rec.center. I'm in Maine this weekend, but I'll keep an eye out for your boat next time I'm up there - most likely next weekend!  Shane, aprreciate teh recs on the jon boat or bass buster. If you have anything specific in mind wiht your connects let me know. My only issue, like I mentioned is storage, during and after the season. I live in Portsmouth also, most times I will be on Great East and or Mousam in Maine I try to make trips to Winni as much as I can. When the weeds aren't to bad at the ramp I hit Swains during the week, weekends during the summer the lakers take all the boating parking spaces. This Sat I will be on Milton 3 ponds. Quote
DevilDoc Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 So I was google mapping ponds and the two I went two were on private property . Anyways does anyone know about the pond that is off the nashua rail trail off Gilson Road/Country Side Dr.? Is it worth checking out? Quote
Super User Shane J Posted August 10, 2013 Super User Posted August 10, 2013 That Tx rig is ready to fish. Notice how my hook point does NOT come out the back of the bait, but rather the hook point goes in at a slight angle, and comes to just below the surface on the back. Saves the plastic, and a sure shot hook set every time. You can bend out the point on any hook to get that angle, but Moaner has it, called the Stick'R Hook. That one there is a 5/0. Basically the only hook I fish anymore for my Tx rigs. Quote
