Forgot to mention, ran into probably 20 or 25 crappie in a 30 minute time span... Most were this size with the occasional one with a bit more length and a hefty gut...

Last fall I was stuck on small fish, after a few posts about how I could produce some bigger bass Shane J said something like" just think big bass, fish like there is a big bass around" Within a week I caught a 4# and my PB 5#11oz... Whenever I go fishing now I play those words in my head... Be confident...

And hey, atleast your catching fish... I would much rather catch a few dinks while on the water than zero, you learn something from every fish you catch..

Put the canoe in Crooked Pond in Loudon for about 3 1/2 hours earlier.  Managed to land 3, couple of 3lbers and a beautiful 6lb LM.  All came on a 1/4 oz swim jig w/ a baby rage craw trailer.  Also had a couple nice hits o]n a shakey head, but wasn't able to get either one in the boat.

It seems like every time I go out I always have trouble finding good healthy structure or places where good size bass would live I guess I really have to change my focus on where I'm fishing really.

Posted

I also focus a lot on the shoreline when looking for places to fish then move off to deeper water from their, but lately I've been going back to the basics and thinking to myself why  am I focusing on these places when there's nothing beneficial for a bass as to oxygen shelter or food. Also I fish a lot during the morning which is form like 5:30-10:00 and at night which is like 5:30-8ish or so and that's when I fish really I never really try during the middle of the day or at afternoon times because I never have luck because I usually cant find fish that are feeding nor can I find good structure. Where as in the morning and night  they come to the shallows to feed.

Wow BWillis, thats a great day at Crooked!

Thanks guys.  I like the Vengeance for the most part, it's a M action spinning rod, so there is a lot of flex in the tip, which sometimes makes it hard to get a good hookset on spinnerbaits and such.  I plan to use it for shad raps, lipless crankbaits, and texas rigs this year.  All three bass I caught today were caught on 7' MH tec-spec spinning rod.

I have the day off of work tomorrow I plan on going up maybe to stumpfield right after I get out of school any tips on fishing there??

Or I might try Nashua River again just for the heck of it, but I have yet to have any success out of there

Mike, nice job, man. That 1/4oz swim jig/Baby Craw is a deadly little son of a gun! One of my favorites.

Also if anyone has any tips on what kinda structure or cover I should be looking for or where the fish might be this time of year that be a great help I'm hoping to catch a pig tomorrow and beat my PB of 5#lbs

Probably a stupid question but always looking for new spots to fish and I hear a lot about stumpfield. For those that fish stumpfield, Is the boat access through the stumpfield mudgett recreational area or should I be looking for another spot. Sorry to high jack.

Next week my friend and I are fishing a tournament on Lake Winnipesauke. It's the first tourney I'm fishing, and the first High School tourney in NH... Im really excited...

Not having to much background on the lake other than it's clearwater with a rocky bottom does anyone have any tips for me?

I think we will be targeting smallies for the most part...

My tourney experience on Winni (home lake where my boat stays in the water all summer) is fish for largemouth. The smallies just are not what they used to be on Winni. All the tourneys Ive fished have had mostly largemouth taking the leader board. The water is still cold up there so it might be difficult to locate consistant fish. Keep working at it. Use natural colors (brown, green) and dont overlook anything. Fish all your spots thorough. Good luck.

I have a buddy that just bought a house in Milford NH. I'm going there next weekend to fish Purgatory Brook for trout.  Would also like to do some bass fishing with him.  Does anyone here know any good spots to fish from shore in the Milford area? Neither of us own a boat.

Thanks Winni Murph...

I live in Milford and sadly they drained the only decent pond that held bass last year...

I'll try to think of some spots close to milford to fish from shore... How far from Milford are you willing to go..

Would like to stay within a half hour of there.  I live in Brentwood and it will take me about an hour to get to Milford so the closer the better.  Ever fish Purgatory Brook?  Looks like a nice place from pics I have seen.

No, but I've hiked up the falls and there seems to be some good looking spots...

A good map! Use the GPS as a guide. I have always like the Lee Mills area it's a haul depending on where you launch I launch right there.. Winter Harbor has some awesome smallies at the entrance on the north side.
