bobh64 Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Did Greateast Sat, water tem @73 there. With the mist we got in the morning only the smallmouth were biting. Always great catching fish while tournament people are trying with no luck catching them and I am throwing the bass back into the water in front of them after they fished the same spot Quote

Shane, are you going to Highland Lake in Washington or Andover?I'm making a trip up to the Plymouth area tonight for a college alumni weekend, and will be hitting up a few small ponds and Loon Lake in Plymouth. I got my personal best out of a 2 acre pond there in late September, 2 years ago. I am crossing my fingers for similar results this weekend! Quote
Super User Shane J Posted September 28, 2012 Super User Posted September 28, 2012 nhbassin, the one in Stoddard/Washington. I launch all the way down at the bottom of the lake at the launch in Stoddard. Love that lake. Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 I am going to try to get out with my dad on sunday, not sure where yet. Maybe Hunt's Pond in Hancock. Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Anyone feeling the fishing slowing down? My last two outings have been very slow, the two trips combined for 3 bass two were probably 1 pound one was pushing 2lbs (My dad did hook up with a what looked like 2.5 or 3 but got off). I won't stop fishing for them unless the weather is to harsh. Maybe I am just not being successfull right now during the temperature change.... If any of you guys haven't felt a difference in the fishing would you mind giving me some tips about what I should be using, areas to fish, etc. Thanks Quote
nhbassin Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I had a succesful weekend of fishing in Plymouth NH on Saturday and some places in North Andover Mass on Sunday. Caught 9 largemouth in total, including a 4 pound 5 ouncer on a rage rooster. I also lost one after a long fight, that was 5-6 pounds. Rage roosters, swim jigs and rage craws in 1-3 feet of water were working. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 anyone fish pine island pond in Manchester? dragged the canoe there sunday for an hour or so. Found some of these and lost a much bigger one but not close enough to guess how big other than much bigger. Quote
unhbass37 Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 Yup I've fished it. There are several good bass there. Just to long of a haul to get my jon boat to the water. Well when I had it. Of course when I went it was 90 degrees out and I busted my nuts lugging the boat to the waters edge. They really need better access. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 UNH, Thanks , i didnt have a lot of time so i only went right and fished the shore going towards the dam and then trolled back. I didnt even get to see anything left of the place we put the canoe in. What areas have you fished? Quote
unhbass37 Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 I went to the right and across and fished the other end. There was a bunch of pads down there. Biggest was a 3.5, but caught quite a few 1+. I'm sure there's a pig or two in there. Just to much work for me to fish it. Good luck. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 2, 2012 Super User Posted October 2, 2012 Jitterbugger, to answer your question, no, it hasn't slowed down at all, in fact water temps right now are in the prime zone for a largemouth's metabolizm. They are aggressively feeding right now, however, I think what you have experienced in your past couple outings, was the effect of the numerous fronts we have had back to back. That kinda stuff messes with the fishing. Sunday I was out in the rain for 3 hours, and caught 15 bass between 2 and 4lbs. When you get out there, and find what you think should be working isn't, then you're gonna have to make a few adjustments to catch 'em. First, they are probably going to be off the banks, or at least next to some good structure. Start with humps, rock piles, and brush piles out a little deeper. For baits, use stuff with a slower fall, and fish slower than you have been. You CAN get them to bite, because they are feeding up for the winter. You can almost always get 'em on a jig, when push comes to shove. Ps- my second fish on Sunday, was my 1000th bass over 13" this year caught on Rage Tail baits, which was one of my fishing goals for the year. Still working on the 10 pounder LM, 6lb smallie, and of course, the state record! 1 Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 2, 2012 Super User Posted October 2, 2012 Oh yeah, I should have also mentioned to pitch, and not cast to your targets. When they're being stubborn, your bait's entry into the water will come into play. Get it in there quietly, and accurately, and let it fall straight down on semi-slack line. I fish with a buddy who cannot pitch to save his life, so he is always casting. Last time we were out and the bite was tough, I out fished him 5 to 1 because of it, and we were both throwing identical baits. Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Thanks Shane, glad to hear that I'm doing something wrong and the fishing is prime! Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 3, 2012 Super User Posted October 3, 2012 Couple adjustments, and you'll be back on 'em. Quote
bobh64 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Looks like the final week of fishing for me before winterizing the boat. Now the hard part choosing what lakes to fish. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 not sure yet where the canoe or jon boat are going this weekend, next 3 sundays after that its Pawtuckaway ,Bow , and then ? Quote
The one that got away Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I was up at Pine River Pond in Wakefield Tues and Wed this week and had some good action, nothing too big though, biggest was 3.6 (not huge, but I wasn't complaining either). Nice lake and area up there. 1 Quote
nhbassin Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Im taking the boat out Sunday and Monday in the Concord area. Can anybody give me some insight as to conditions such as water temp and if the largemouth are in full feeding mode right now? Quote
