NHBassMaster2 Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Had a pretty good past few days. Weather has been pretty decent, so that helps. Spawning like mad out there folks! Yesterday I went to Thorndike Pond and absolutely killed the Smallies in there! Most were on beds, some just finished and cruising the shallows looking for something tasty to eat. Spend 8hrs on the water and caught 24 Smallies, smallest being 2lbs. It was awesome. Today I went to Gilmore Pond, hadn't been there before, definitely Trout waters that happens to hold Bass. Lucky for me. On beds again and it was like shooting fish in a barrel. Biggest was 5lb. After I fished there I went to Cunningham Pond. Same goes for this place. Some fish on beds, some cruising shallows. Hammered them here as well. A few 4lbs, a 5lb and a 7lb ended my day. Looking forward to this weekend with this nice weather and not a lot of wind! Get out there while you can! Quote
nhbassin Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 NHBassMaster2, That sounds like a great few days! Good to know that the spawn is on. I will be trying somewhere around the Concord area tomorrow and will post if I get anything nice. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted May 19, 2012 Super User Posted May 19, 2012 The spawn has been on, and is done in some places. Nice work, NHBassmaster. Quote

John603 Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Whats up guys just joined the forums. I've been fishing for years but kind of got back into it these last few years. I've been pretty busy this year with work and school but my senior year is finally winding down so I've been able to get out these past few weekends. Went to Turtle Pond and Turkey Pond three weeks ago and got shutout besides a ton of pickerel. Temps were still pretty low at that point and the wind was brutal so we didn't stay for too long. This past weekend I got out on Merrymeeting Lake and caught quite a few. Then on Monday I went out from shore on a small pond in my town that I had never fished before and absolutely hammered them! 18 total, all smallmouths besides a couple sunfish that managed to hit my topwater lures. Anyways here are some pics of some of my catches so far. Nothing too big yet but hopefully with the temps rising everyday I'll find some lunkers soon enough. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted May 23, 2012 Super User Posted May 23, 2012 Welcome, John. I fish a lot of the same water, so I'm sure I'll see ya on the water sometime. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted May 26, 2012 Super User Posted May 26, 2012 Yesterday went out to rip some lips with a buddy, and did exactly that. Caught a ton of fish, but only one that was over 2 1/2lbs. This one, which was just shy of 8lbs. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted May 26, 2012 Super User Posted May 26, 2012 I see how you are Shane, save that stuff for when we're out! Quote
Super User Shane J Posted May 26, 2012 Super User Posted May 26, 2012 Haha. I'll try, but I can't shut it off! Quote
NHBassMaster2 Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Nice catch Shane! We gotta get out again soon! Had a pretty good fishing weekend myself. Thurs I fished Silver Lake in Harrisville, nice lake, CRYSTAL clear and mostly fished by Trout fisherman it appears. Smallies were spawning, so I absolutely hammered them! Ended up with 41 in about 4hrs time, all small, biggest one was 3lbs. Still fun though! I'll go back in a few weeks and see what it's like then. Friday I fished Jenness Pond for a few hours, post cold front and post spawn, fishing was slow only managed 4 fish, biggest was 5lb Bucket. Sat morning I fished Bow Lake, slow start, but once I figured out the pattern it was on! 16 fish in about 6hrs time, biggest was 4lb Bucket, also the only one of the day for the boat. All other fish were Smallies, some late spawners and the rest were post spawners. I'd go back about later this summer. Overall a pretty good weekend! Quote
Super User Shane J Posted May 27, 2012 Super User Posted May 27, 2012 Who else hit the water today? Got out at about noon today for a few hours with a buddy, and we got on 'em real good, including this slob that I landed on a jig/Baby Craw. Quote
fmoore Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Sweet fish Shane. I was able to get out Saturday and Sunday this weekend, although I'm not home from school for another 2 1/2 weeks. I've been doing a ton of striper fishing down here on LI, catching some good fish up to 40". Just wish I knew a little more about that type of fishing. Anyway, only the 2nd and 3rd days on the water this year for the Skeeter. Two largemouth over 5 and three smallies that came real close. Very surprised at how good the fishing was considering the bright sun and lack of wind. Key baits for the weekend were swim jig and shaky head. The bass were overshadowed by my biggest pike ever though. 16 pounds on the swim jig Sunday morning. Quote
MCaravella Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 What are u guys throwing right now, and what will you be throwing for this upcoming month? Quote
Super User Shane J Posted May 29, 2012 Super User Posted May 29, 2012 If they're hitting moving baits, I can't miss with a swim jig/Rage Craw trailer. If they're not, then a Tx rigged Rage Craw with pegged tungsten weight dragged slowly in 12 fow. Over the course of the next month, it's gonna be more topwaters (shallow and over weeds), and Carolina rigs (deep). Quote
Super User Shane J Posted May 29, 2012 Super User Posted May 29, 2012 That's a heck of a pike, Fmoore! That must've put a smile on your face! Quote
jaystraw Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Wow Shane...those are quite the pigs! Excellent work!! Fmooore, that thing is a monster! I lost a LC jerkbait to a giant there last week out by the sandbar/frog that looked about the same size when it jumped trying to throw my bait after it cut me off. Spofford has such a sick pike population. I've gotta go there soon and just fish for one of those. I've been out a bunch the two week prior to memorial day because I was on vacation. I hit Spofford a couple times, Newfound, Franklin Pierce, Island Pond and a few other spots. It was sick fishing the entire time. Highlights inclded 4+ pound smallies at Newfound on jerkbaits and off beds at Spofford, as well as 5 lb + LMB's at Spofford. I really have to say that I loved Newfound and cannot wait to go back. It really has been a great spirng and I'm looking forward to the post spawn bite! Quote
NHBassMaster2 Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Went to Harrisville Pond yesterday, fishing was great! 21 fish in about 4hrs. Two 6lbr's a 5lb and a 4lb Bucket, rest were smaller fish. I hadn't fished there before, but I will certainly go back. Jaystraw, how was Franklin Pierce? Did quite well there last year. Quote
bobh64 Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Did Swains yesterday caught several including a nice largemouth at 6lb's but she looked like a deflated beach ball. Quote
