OK here are some questions about lures that i have wonderd about...

1. Every says their Rapala DT's lips are always falling off. Falling of on cast, falling of from structure, falling of in their hands, falling off everywhere. I have yet to own a DT, and if there lips are as fragile as people say they are, i dont think i will waste the $6.

My motto is, Always be ready for anything. How can you be ready if you cant even trust your lure? If i get my first DD bass on, i hope and pray it wont be on a lure with a weak lip. Becuase i'm gunna sue rapala if i loose a huge bass becuase of their crummy lure. What do you think?

2. Wacky rigs. I tried it a few times, but never got any bass. I've done much, much better rigging my senkos texas style.

What situations are wacky rigs better than texas rigs?

3. Sure Set Hooks. I love how they look but i'm afraid i'll snag it. My friend puts sure set hooks only on the rear split rings, and normal trebles on the belly splitrings. It look to me like this would reduce snags a good amount.

Do sure sets work better? Do they snag more when fish structure and the bottem?

1)  I have broken plenty of DT lips, but I have never broken one while reeling in a fish

2)  Wacky rigs have more action than a texas rig because both ends are free to wiggle.  Also, since the hook is exposed the fish usually hook themselves and a light, sweeping hookset ensures that its in there.  You also said you have only tried it a few times.  It took me forever to catch my first senko fish on a t-rig.  So keep throwing it and one day they will be in a "wacky" mood.

3)  Even though it looks like they snag more, I haven't noticed any difference other than me hooking more fish.  But I haven't fished them enough to truly say there better.

I may have landed a bunch of big fish (6-11 lbs) on DT-10 and 16s and have never had a lip pull out. Part of the reason the bait is so good is that it has a thin lip. Also, I throw these baits a lot and have never broken a lip. I am sure they will break if they hit a rock, dock, etc. on the cast.

I would just touch on location. The wacky-rig worm is really effective over submerged weed beds.

Work it as a soft jerkbait and those wacky worm-ends drive bass crazy, of course, some bass are already crazy

There is no reason to be concerned about a bill falling off or a lure becoming defective. Either save your receipt or charge them on the retailer's card. I buy the vast majority of my lures from BassPro on my BP card. I return ALL lures that break, are defective or become defective, regardless of the reason. I have NEVER been denied. The lure companies produce a lot of junk, and they know it, but the cost is so low for replacing lures that anyone returns, it is not economical for low cost producers to improve their product.

Smithwick Rogues are my best example: Relatively low cost jerkbaits that are VERY productive. However, at least 20% of their jerkbaits are initially defective or BECOME defective. I love the lures, but I have the ones that do not perform correctly replaced. That always means EXCHANGE, never money back.

I think there is reason to be concerned. What if the young man's PB swims away with a mouth full of crankbait and all he will have to lip is the lip of his bait. That's not worth the risk to mw. Granted, crankbaits aren't exactly a real consistent big fish bait in general, but it could definitely happen. That would be my concern over the price. Also some lure companies, such as SPRO have a pretty poor system when it comes to addressing defective baits, sort of like Kistler's "just wrap some tape" reel seat policy. If you aren't worried about losing fish, then RW is pretty much right on.
