  1. ok i fish the Charles river dock in Watertown and i have been for the past 2 weeks every day for at least 1 hour each time and i havent even seen a bass yet should i leave it or no it looks good and all and it has bait fish perch sunfish and all that stuff and i might have seen people catch a bass there but ya. also this river is either murky or murky clear it has weeds and logs in the water i have already lost like 4 lures there and it has alot of green stuff that gets on my lures any tips i normally go there around 245 at latest arive around 4 and fish until 530 and no bass. i have fished it all top water senko crankbait spinnerbait crawfish and no action on anything at all except for some sunfish and 4 inch bass looking things that i can drop my lure right infront of them since they camp the dock and they will nibble it and swim away every time thats the most action i ever got. i dont know what to fish it anymore what lures to use how to use them and all that i think i need a complete refresh of knowlage and tips can yall help me out.
  2. Hi all, Hopefully everyone's summer has been full of fishing excursions. I've been doing decently well this summer. Hopefully this post is in the right area. BUT I've run into a problem I can't quite solve. I've recently started fishing a new lake that has some great bass fishing. The water is very clear for my area, it's very weedy, and I fish from shore. The lake is has a lot of pressure and I've found they really response to T rigged creature baits dragged and hopped along the bottom. They destroy them. The lake has a steep drop off from about 1-5 feet deep for about 20-30 feet then down to 12-20 feet from 10 yards out. I'm using a 3/8ths ounce tungsten weight to get the bait to the bottom. The problem is i'm getting hung up on serious weeds about 50% of the time and not able to present the bait right. It's limiting my chances to catch fish as I need to drag the bait out, pull the weeds off, and cast back out. I'm not new to weighted t rigs, but i'm new to this type of weed density, and the fish being so deep in the forest. Is there any tips to help out from the members out there? I'm not pegging the weight, I thought that would make it worse (maybe i'm wrong). I'm certain i'm hooking the bait correctly as the eye of the hook is buried into the bait (3/0 EWG hook), small tag end, concealed hook point. Is this just the way of the world? Am I missing something? They don't seem to respond quite as well to more compact, slim baits like worms or tubes. Any help/advice is appreciated!
  3. I am wondering how I would catch largemouth bass in pretty shallow brownish green water with rocks and some weeds. It is at the end of a cove in Lake Anna in Virginia.
  4. Hello All, I am going back to one of our local lakes here in Spokane, WA. Newman to be exact. Apparently the state did a mil-foil treatment and the water is the dirtiest I have ever seen it. I would guess less than a foot of visibility. The lake is pretty shallow with a lot of elephant ear pads and obviously mil-foil around most of the lake. The lake has a lot of docks and there are a couple nice, steep banks that are rocky. The water temp is in the low 70s. I guess my question is, where should the majority of fish be located? I am pretty new to bass fishing as well, so any insight will help. I do have a boat if that counts for anything...

  6. Well, it's getting hot. Fish are slowing down in the local reservoir. Its mossy in shallow areas, and weedy in the rest. Not the kind of weeds that grow to the surface like a mat. More like bottom grass. Yesterday, I broke out the T-Rigged Speed Craw and caught three on it, all decent fish. But of course it was fouled almost every cast. I'm sure I could catch more if I could keep it clear of weeds longer on a long cast. Any suggestions? Any sleeker rigs than the conventional bullet weight-straight offset 3/0-4/0 hook? Thanks, Rob
  7. what are the types of aquatic plants anglers should be most aware of or be able to recognize? if there's a chart with photo's that'd help. i hear about hydrilla but dont really know what it looks like, the same for other types of weeds.
  8. So I recently started using hair jigs more, and have started fishing them in a really fun and productive way. I will go find a weedbed about 7-8' deep, use a stiff med hvy spinning rod with braid, and make short pitches into the weeds, then jig about a foot off bottom until you get it fouled in weeds , which is when you rip the rod as hard as you can. I know it is a popular walleye technique up here, but i have been catching a lot of bass on it as well. I was wondering if you guys have ever tried it, and if so, how much success have you had on it.

Girlfriend pulled this sweet 4 pounder out of a weeds by flipping a green pumpkin pit boss.
  10. My favorite lake to fish is a very deep, clear water lake with an abundance of hydrilla. For those of you that fish similar waters, how do you decide what depth to target? Thanks in advance, Paul.
