  1. I use my brother's F150 and he has a Curt adjustable, dual ball hitch on it with a 2" and 2-5/16" inch balls on it to pull his shack and my boat. His iceshack uses the 2-5/16" inch ball with no shock when pulling. It is approx. 1,000lbs. lighter. When I use his truck to pull my Alumacraft Competitor 205 with the 2" ball there is a thunk when starting and stopping. The trailer has a Leverlock hitch on it. Maybe the Leverlock coupler is known for not being as tight and the problem cannot be resolved, I don't know. If that is not the case, what is the best shock absorbing hitch that is good for summer and winter with salt on the roads?
  2. Hey all, I'm looking into used bass boats in the 1995-2000 range and I'm curious if I should stick to the 18'-19' boat or if I could possibly bump up to the 20'-21' boat. My only concern on this is my truck is a 2017 Ram 1500 3.6L V6. It's rated towing capacity is 4,210lbs. Would I have any issues towing a bigger bass boat and trailer? I read that most bigger bass boats range in the 2,000-2,500lbs range, but I think that was dry weight and I wasn't sure on trailer weight. Any comments would be helpful! Thanks!
  3. I was just wondering what is y'all fishing vehicles. I personnally use an old Jeep Liberty 2003. It has a ceiling rod rack and a load bar to help load my kayak on the roof rack. I put A/T tires as I often fish back country... It is also has a hitch so I can pull my yak trailer or the 12ft aluminium boat. What about yours ?
  4. Just finished putting my rod tube on the ol' green Burban! Stoked about it! This thing fits all 6 of my go-to setups which consists of 5 baitcasters and 1 spinning reel. Longest rod is 7'11". It could probably fit more. It wasn't a snug fit at all. if any of you are thinking about doing this, it costs about: 75 dollars - Schedule 40 10 foot by 6 inch pipe (hardware store) 45 dollars - Conduit Carrier 6 inch end caps (Amazon) 30 dollars - Spray paint (took 2 and a half cans! And I'm still not happy with the result! If I could go back I'd probably use a brush or roller.) 10 dollars - lock 5 dollars - Sand paper 4 bucks for the 2x6 board because I needed more clearance on the STOCK suburban roof rack. Didn't even need a 500 dollar rack to do this project! 200 dollars a week - for the therapy I'll need from using my wife as a helper in mounting it (all in jokes! My wife was actually super helpful and we got it mounted in about 20 minutes)! Most guys cut the pipe down to 8 foot from what I've seen but I left it at 10 feet because I've got the suburban not a pickup. Love my suburban!! I highly suggest doing it if one of you have been on the fence about getting into it or not.
  5. Hey all. It's been a while since I've posted here, but I have a question and I knew this was the place to come. I apologize if it isn't posted in the right place, but I wasn't really sure where it should go. I'm in the market for a new truck. I've made my mind up on the Chevy Silverado, but I've been toying around with the specifics. I want to go with the crew cab, but I'm concerned that standard bed will be too small for many of my rods. While I don't own anything over 7'6", I'm not ruling out the future possibilty. I'd prefer not to have the rod mounts with the rods sticking up vertical. I would also a imagine that the crew cab with the long bed would be like driving a semi. Just wanted to hear your input. Does anyone own a crew cab with the standard bed, and if so how is it's functionality? Any other input is appreciated as well. I'm not interested in making this a Chevy, Dodge, Ford, etc. debate, I'm worried more about dimensions. Thanks in advance. Chris
