  1. My local dealership has this 2008 Triton 19xs with a Mercury 225 on the back of it and they want 45k Canadian Dollars for it. What i want to know is if they're asking too much and pros and cons about this model or engine.
  2. I recently bought a 2008 Triton VT 17 from a dealer 150 miles away. I just tried to start the Mercury 50 last weekend, as have been using only my trolling motor on lakes with NO gas motors allowed. My friend and I were unable to get it to start. The starter turned over quite well, but seemed to not have the gas to take over. I have never owned a gas motor larger than 5 hp manual start, so was not surprised with my inability, but my friend is more knowledgeable than me, as he has a 40 hp electric start. He expected that there should be a choke somewhere, and/or a throttle. We could find neither, so maybe the Forward/Reverse positions include variable speed controls!?! I also questioned whether the gas tank should have a release valve to prevent a vacuum from forming, but none to be found. There is also a Run switch under the shift handle that didn't seem to matter. And there is an unattached lanyard, but no apparent place to insert it. The dealer had no manual from the prior owners, but they claimed they had done a full service on it and a compression test, which meant that the motor was started. So I'm concluding that I have an insufficient process - or that they just lied. If anyone has a manual, I would gladly pay for you to get a copy printed and send to me, and pay you for your trouble. A digital copy would be great!! Or if anyone knows what steps I'm missing. My procedure now is as follows: 1) Lower motor to full down position. 2) Place shift handle in neutral position. 3) Turn key to On position for a few seconds. 4) Turn key to Start position. Rinse and repeat... Thanks for any help!!

  4. Want to hear feed back from boat owners that live on the Great Lakes. I live on the St.clair river and a stone throw form Lake St.Clair. Really looking into buying a bass boat and wanted to know the pros and cons of running/boat control on the big water.
  5. So I recently relocated for work to South Dallas area and sold my bay boat due to size of garage on new house. I know I know... buy house that has garage big enough for boat. Well there were compromises. I am actively looking for a new to me boat that would fit the single bay side of the garage. The depth of garage is right at 20' the width is 7'-10". Even though it will be tight, I would be fine with a 7'-8" wide boat. Initially was was looking at the Tracker boats, specifically the 175TXW and new Heritage due to the package widths and lengths. The more I research and look, I am really liking the Triton TX17 or Crestliner VT17s. The Triton/Crestliner styles seem to be much more equipped and decked out for the style I fish. I have tried to research the overall package width's of both the Triton TX17 and Crestliner VT17 and get mixed understanding of the true width of these on trailers. Was wondering if anyone that has one or experience with them could shed some light on the widths for me? Feel free to recommend other boats that would work in my situation. My budget will most likely around the $12k range. Ideally below that so I have room for upgrades (TM and depth finders to start) Thanks in advance
  6. I just got my first bass boat, a 2017 179 TrX. Even though it's my third fishing boat, I've used the livewell in all three of them a grand total of one time. . . and that was two boats ago. I'm fishing a bass tourney on Sunday and have no idea how the livewell works. To top it off, my livewell has three different pumps. I've never seen a more complicated setup. So, how do I operate my livewell? Do I put leave the drain plug in or take it out? I'm guessing "in". In what positions should the switches for the livewell be? I'm guessing Recirc Manual would fill the livewell and Recirc Auto would circulate it when full. But I'm not sure. Help!
  7. In mid-November, I sold my 1998 16-foot Xpress with a 60-HP Yamaha and bought a 1998 Triton TR19 with a 175 HP Mariner EFI. I've had it out 5-6 times and enjoyed the ride and roominess plus the faster speed but last time I had it out, the trim went out as I was about to load it. It would go down but not up. We think it's the wiring harness and the relay. I've ordered the part to replace it ($150). Now I'm wondering. Am I going to have ongoing expense and issues like this? Did I mess up by trading up to this boat? I've even thought about trying to sell it and trying to find an 18-foot aluminum boat. It's a nice boat. I just want ease of use and to be able to hook up and fish when I want with minimal expense and maintenance issues.
  8. In search for a Triton bass boat. I fish for the Auburn University bass team and I need something that I can fish tournaments out of! Ive got (give or take) $20,000 to spend. ALL CASH. What I'm looking for... A Triton that is newer than 2006 ------- Specifically Tr-196, Tr-20 or boats that are similar like the HP series or X/x^2 series. Let me know what you've got or what you know of. Willing to travel for the right buy.
  9. Hello All Spring of 2017 I plan to purchase a new / slightly used bass boat. I need some help from everyone. Any insight would be very helpful on what you have owned along with any regrets you may have in your purchases. Currently I have a 2000 pro team 175. I 100% will not buy another aluminum boat. I am sick of getting blown all over on a breezy (not windy) day and lack of storage (especially rods) frustrates the hell out of me. This was my first boat and I have learned a lot from it about what I would like to have in a new boat. The biggest lakes I may fish once or twice a year would be Table Rock Lake or Lake of the Ozarks. Budget is between 30K- 40K. Any input on new vs. used, brand, size, engine mfg. and size, storage, electronics, accessories, features, and so on. I would prefer to stay 5 years or less on a used boat if possible. I do also fish several smaller lakes around my area that have an electric only motor requirement or idle only. I have fished a few tournaments over the last couple of years but would like to do more once I have something that can carry more gear and so on. I know this is fairly vague but I am curious to hear what everyone has to say about possible boats on the market today.
