  1. This topic has probably been created a million times already, sorry. I have a couple new Buckeye G-man ballin' out finesse jigs that have a 4/0 hook and I've started to think about trailers for them. I have been using regular rage menace grubs with about 3/4" cut off but I'm wondering if there is a better option that I don't have to modify and has a little more subtle action. I'm looking for a small thin profile about 3" long. Suggestions?
  2. Last year I got into jig fishing and this led me down the path of matching certain jigs with the right trailers. Now, before you @ me, I know that it matters a lot more to me than to the fish, and that you can pretty much get bit on any jig and trailer combination. This is about the aesthetic, as the Instagram crowd would say. Here are some I've found that go great together. PB&J Dirty Jigs Finesse Jig and a Cinnamon Black and Purple Flake (221) Yamamoto 4" Double Tail Grub Watermelon Pumpkin Craw Bass Patrol Silicone Football Jig and a Hard Candy Strike King Rage Chunk And my absolute favorite, the Green Pumpkin Craw Bass Patrol and a Falcon Lake Craw Range Chunk. Green on top, red bottom. On these last two the light from my desk lamp does not do them justice. In direct sunlight they look a lot better. And compressing the file down to a sub 350kb JPEG didn't do wonders for that first one either. So, what do you got? What combinations have you found that just... Click?
  3. Anyone ever use Ned baits as trailers on finesse jigs?
  4. Hey BR, New video up on skipping jigs under docks, part 2 with an emphasis on mechanics, technique and gear is up. Hope you all like it! Thanks for watching, James N
  5. Hi BR, Hope you all are going to hit the lake this weekend! When it comes to bladed jig trailer selection it can be pretty confusing what to put on. Well in this video I share my Top 3 Bladed jig trailers. Hope you like and thanks for watching! JN
  6. I bought a new 10ft Jon boat and was planning on hauling it in the back of my truck but after a few times loading and unloading I want to get a trailer to make it easier on me,I'm no spring chicken,so my question is,what trailer would work for this boat, pretty much all the boat trailers I have looked at are for 12ft and longer. Thanks
  7. Hey BR, Attached is video of my “simple” or short list of top performing swim jig trailers for all seasons and imitating all prey items. Thanks JN
  8. Hello, I recently bought the 3/8 Arkie Jig in a Missouri Craw color. I was wondering what color trailer should I use, I was thinking maybe a pumpkin seed color but I´m not sure. Also if you have a personal preference on what type of trailer I should use that would be good too. I was probably going to use a Strike King Menace grub.
  9. I fish in a lot of stained water ponds with bluegill as the main forge. I'm just starting out fishing swim jigs, so what trailers would you guys suggest for these conditions?
  10. Need advice on if I should install a boat launch and if it will be worth it. I recently inherited a 5 acres property with a beautiful house sitting on over 250 feet of river front off of the Coosa River in Alabama. Here's the problem, the city boat launch is about 20 minutes away from the house by road, and the banks to the river are extremely steep rising 10 to 15 feet above the river. Is it worth the money to install a ramp or some sort of winch system for a boat (Bass Boat or Pontoon Boat) for the convenience of not having to always drive down to the city launch? Would it help the resell of the property to a fishing enthusiast if it is installed? What kind of system should I be looking at if I did install it? It's hard to tell how steep the bank is from the picture, but hoping you all would have some insights and recommendations. Thanks in advance and happy fishing.
  11. Was curious to see what y'all use for your trailers during the winter... Remain the same or downsize it?
  12. Hey guys, I am new to the bass resource forum. Right off the bat I have a question for you guys. I have a 50hp Johnson motor with no power tilt/trim on it. was wondering what was the best method for trailering this motor? I am currently using a transom saver which is mounted to the trailer, then the V end goes up into the lower unit with a bungee cord strapped around the motor. the motor is not fully up, and in the locked position, but just under when it locks. So when I'm trailering it whenever I go over bumpy roads or holes the motor tends to jump around a bit. should I put the motor all the way up so it locks, and have the transom saver under it? would greatly appreciate any advice! Thanks for your time!
  13. Do craw trailers work on buzz baits? Or, is that so obviously unreal fish know it? Anyone have success with odd jig and trailer pairings? I wonder because I saw a photo of a Rapala jointed bait modified in which the back end of the jointed bait was removed and replaced with a 4/0 hook and a plastic worm was attached. Certainly and unreal creation. Some people say to match up the jig and trailer. Others say they purposely miss-match those. I only have heard this from videos on Youtube. What do you all think?
  14. I have been fishing with a Johnson Weedless spoon last year and have run into a small problem. I use an Uncle Josh "black widow eel" either a number 140 or a 160 pork rind bait. I keep losing the black widow eel. Any suggestions to help keep the eel on but still have the spoon run true?
  15. Does anyone know where I can locate some black/blue, black, or sapphire Zoom Fat Albert Single Tail Grubs? I have searched the web and called my local tackle shops and I cannot locate any. I found a place in Montanna but they are closed until they thaw out. Thanks for any suggestions.
  16. This is always a good question to bring up. Whenever I ask it, I usually get some great responses. So let me ask you, how do you keep jig trailers on?
  17. Just curious to hear everyone's favorite
  18. Just curious what you guys all use for your trailers, I use the typical Chunks and Grubs (single and double), but I also use a lot of various soft plastics, usually for my swim jigs I will use larger trimmed worms for a nice long twister tail, or parts of other baits that have nice action, usually doesnt seem to have a dramatically different effect, but is fun anyway. Just wondering what you guys will use besides the usual craw/chunk or grub - the most common choices I find.
  19. Hey all, I'm new to this site, but not to fishing, and want to start learning how to make jigs. Does anyone make their own jigs? Do certain materials work differently in the water than others? Could anyone give me tips on the best, most efficient way to make jigs? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I fish for largemouth in particular, but smallmouth as well! Thanks!
