  1. Hi. We have several pond with murky water around the area I live. I've been catching bluegill/sunfish/panfish in June, but not nothing bites. Any advice on tackle, rig, bait, location, etc., would be appreciated. P.S. I use black chartreuse grub with gold sparkles, red/chartreuse tubes, small artificial minnows (kind of like the fluke) - everithing is 1 1/2 inch. Some times I rig it with split shot, sometimes with jig or spinnerbait. And also I've tried powerbait.
  2. I was thinking today if you fish a lure that imitates something that doesn't live there, will bass still hit it? Around my local lakes and ponds we have sunnies and minnows swimming around mainly (worms, lizards and grubs too) but if I threw a rage craw or a shad rap would they hit it? I've never seen any crawfish or shad in the shallows. I usually see crawfish up north in the state on an unnamed smallmouth hotspot. Also I noticed how long some of these plastic worms are. Some of the curly tail worms bassinisaddicting sent me are pushing 10-12 inches. When you go to a tackle shop and buy a can of dmf nightcrawlers the longest they are is maybe 5-6 inches. How many worms are actually a foot long? I know big bait=big fish but this stuff seems excessive... Also some big fish have been caught on small stuff too.
  3. There is a small pond, maybe 30ft by 15ft and 5-10ft deep, near my house. I have seen and caught sunfish, bass (0-1 lb ish, mostly on the lower end), goldfish (probably some kids pet), crawfish, and shad. what i want to know is what are the best lures and rod/reel set up to catch all of them. I typically take my entire tackle box, but i would rather only take a few lures and one rod, and suggestions?
  4. Hey fellow fisherman, Some friends and I fished Belle Isle on the Historic James River in Richmond, Va this last Tuesday. We caught a ton of sunfish throwing grubs, and a few channel cats on some fresh cut bait. We got a few smallies on some crawfish shaped crankbaits, nothing too big. We were limited to the shore, no wading, because we were on a school trip. The area we fished was a beach type area that you reach by turning left off the footbridge if you are walking in from the city. Even without wading, the trip was fairly enjoyable, and we are planning to head back Thursday afternoon. So now, my question is, do any of you guys know of any particularly good spots in the Belle Isle area, for catfish, bass, or anything else? And, have you found any specific lures or baits to work well there other than the standard stuff you would throw at Pony Pasture or Huguenot Flat-water? Thanks in advance! (:
  5. I've been using the cheap 15$ rapala knife for a couple years and am ready to step it up because I plan on keeping many more fish this year. It will be mainly be used for crappie, sunfish, and pike. What is the best knife for under 50$?
