  1. I only have Abu Garcia fishing reels, i have Silvermax 3, Orra SX2 and Promax, im going to get a new one, but im between revo SXT and MGX any advice, im basically new in this art of fishing i have a couple of year but i never went more than 6 times a year, thisnis the first year that i been going every week and even twice a week when i have the oportunity. By the way im a shore freshwater fisher. Tageting Bass
  2. Anybody ever use an Abu Garcia Cardinal I am wondering if they are any good
  3. I have been buying and trying a couple different reels, like the Lew's Tournament MG and the Daiwa Tatula. To be completely honest i was not that impressed with the casting distance of the Tatula (given i was in my yard, with both reels) It seems like i could bomb a half oz. jig with half the effort with my Tournament MG on half breaks, whereas i had the Tatula on almost freespool! (2). So what i'm getting at, is I'm trying to find reels in the $100-$150 price range. My first reel, a while back was a Blackmax, it can cast really far, but it seemed very finicky and picky for me. So i have been eyeing up the SX, mostly because of the deeper capacity than a Lew's Tournament and I'm pretty sure it can cast well and far. I would just stick with tournament mg's but it seems like everyone on here thinks the regular Tourny's are much better, by looking at the specs, I can't find too much of a difference except it has a wiffle/smaller capacity spool, dual cast adjustment, looks a little different, and i think that's about it. Sorry I'm kind of rambling. Something about Abu and their reels really gets me. I constantly eye them up, but never pull the trigger. Probably half my problem is when i read reviews on Tackletour, it's like every reel but Daiwa and Shimano is bad... (except Lew's.) The quality of Lew's is great. I just want to try something else. I heard the gen. 2 SX reels were better, but I'm looking at gen. 3. So what do you guys think of the new generation SX, and think i should do? The S could possibly be an option, but i'd probably rather by an Orra SX for that matter. Thanks. I appreciate it, if you bared with me during that post, haha!
  4. Alright guys got another question. Everyone knows im a lews guy but i have a revo stx generation 3 that i bought a couple of years ago. it was good for about 6 months then wouldnt cast very far at all. I've cleaned it and everything. i plan on using this for flipping so i dont have to cast far but would like to know how i can fix it myself to make it work like it used to. should i put boca bearings in? any advice please let me know.
  5. Anyone that has one of the 3rd Gen Revo STX baitcasters... I'm having a problem getting the spool to stop on my casts without braking it down hard with the knob. I've tried 2, 3, 4, and 6 pins engaged and modified the magnetic brake with each setup. I'm not new to baitcasters. I have a Lew's TP1H and 2 Pflueger Patriarch XT's. I can cast the heck out of all 3 and get massive distance with zero backlash and a great spool stop from my brakes on all 3 of those reels using as light as 1/4 oz crank baits. For some reason I just cant adjust the new Revo to cast decent. Anyone have any ideas? I'll admit this is my first Abu baitcaster so maybe there's something different in adjusting the Revo?
  6. Hi! I'm new to baitcasters, recently bought 3 of them : Curado, Chronarch and Revo STX. Love them all. Shimanos have only centrifugal brake but Revo STX has centrifugal brake and magnetic brake. Question is: when are you using that magbetic brake....is this useful?.....I've been fishing using the STX...and didnt find any need to use/adjust magnetic brake....so what are benefits of having that mag. brake? I'm casting easy 35-40 m....with all 3 reels without problems....no birds nest ( if I dont make a mistake - like not thinking about what I'm doing ).
