  1. Hi guys, here comes my first post here, just after taking out the striker 9sv for the first time and managed to damage the gt52 ducer :(...hit some net, ducer got to the propeller and that was it. Shell is not cracked although the pic suggests that, what looks like cracks are just the plastic cut leftovers. Ok...now here's what the sonar image looks like after the accident (apologies for the blur due to moisture+screen protection film): So the left SI is obviously affected and displayed in red + some noise in the right SI water column, although bottom structures are detected and displayed correctly on both sides (!) Classic sonar/downview seem unaffected. Now the question is: do you think those scratches alone can result in this malfunctioning, or is it rather the internals (crystal, piezos) affected as a result of the accident? To my limited knowledge, these transducer internals are completely immersed in the hard filling inside the case, thus protected. But briefly looking at the overall Garmin build quality, although this unit costs 600 euros, I must mention a cheap plastic feeling and not so much of a bulletproof impression. Any feedback from similar issues, advice, admonishment etc. is appreciated Thanks and regards, /Adrian
  2. My Garmin Striker 5 shows up well in all conditions. However, the screen is very difficult to see when I wear my polarized sunglasses. Does anyone have this problem, and how did you fix it?
  3. I just read that Garmin has announced a new line of Striker and Echomap units. That's right @NHBull days after your purchase. The Striker units will have quick draw, wi-fi The Echomap units will have touch screen capability, wi-fi, add a 6" unit I'm sure I've missed some things. They sound like some nice additional features. If I were a smart man I'd post the announcement.
  4. I have a 2016 Feel Free lure 13.5. This has a box in middle of Kayak, front of seat. To mount Fish finder on, with battery in box, and transducer under neath. Am trying to pick out a good Fish Finder. Withing he $430 range. I've currently been looking at the Garmin Striker 4DV $179 ( But screen is only 3.5 ) Been looking at the Lowrance Hook 5 $399( Has missed reviews ) Also Been looking at the Humming Bird Helix 5 SI KVD combo. It is on sale for $423. ( Not sure side imaging would even work with me, since The hull of my Kayak would be on sides of transducer. If I lowered it then would become damaged.) Any help is much appreciated. If there is a better Fish Finder not listed here you would recommend please do so. And tell me why. I just wanna get the best bang for my buck. Thanks.
  5. Hey guys I currently have a JK Big Tuna and I want to add a fish finder to it. I think that I'm going to pick up a Garmin Striker 7sv. I plan on using it on both the kayak and my friends jon boat. I want to use a Ram Transducer Arm so that I can switch back and forth from both boats, but I don't think that the transducer will mount properly to the arm. The transducer number is GT52HW-TM. It is similar in shape to the Lowrance LSS but is not exactly the same. Does anyone have ideas about how I could get this to work or how I could rig up a transportable system that will get the transducer deep enough in the water for the sidevu to work properly??
