  1. Hey Guys, I am currently planning to fish the St Lawrence this weekend targeting smallmouth and largemouth bass. Having never tackled this body of water before, would you guys recommend any lures or strategies? Ive been doing some research but wanted to see what you guys think! Thanks guys!
  2. Sometimes the ponds near me aren't well maintained as in there is a bunch of vegetation and such all around the bank so its tough to go and stand there. These ponds also get the least pressure because no one is hardcore enough to go all Man vs Wild to catch a few bass! I was wondering if you guys have any special technique for navigating such ponds. What do you wear, how do you avoid bugs etc. Personally, I go fishing in shorts and these prickly shrubs always make a mess out of my legs. Not to mention the ant hill you might step over. And just countless bugs. The grass is also practically as tall as I am, and there could be snakes in there. I live in Northern Illinois though so I'm not sure if any of them are dangerous. Also I mostly fish alone so if I break my ankle I'm screwed.
  3. I will be a freshman in high school this year so this will be my first year of fishing tournaments. Please let me know if you have anything that could possibly help me at any point of my highschool fishing career. Anything like how to practice, tournament strategies, getting sponsors, improve my fishing skill level, e.t.c. Anything will help. Thank you.
  4. (I changed the topic of this in another thread because I posted in the wrong forum). Hey guys, I have a general question about a reservoir i'm going to tomorrow morning. It's called Lake Mcintosh, in Peachtree City, Georgia. I have only bank fished there maybe 4 times and caught a 2lber off a trap one time, but I have seen some asian guys with a stringer of 2lbers that they took home and ate sadly. The reservoir is relatively new, about 2-3 years old and has not been stocked as far as I can tell. I think the average depth is around 10-15ft, and it has a creek called Line Creek feeding it from the northern most point of the lake. It's about 650 acres, electric motor only, and has little fishing pressure that I have noticed. Weather calls for 45 degrees in the morning with a 10mph north wind starting around 12pm. the water temp of Lake Horton(10 miles west) on Saturday was between 64-67, so I assume the water temp will be right at 60-65 degrees with the low being 45 tonight. I imagine these bass are between pre spawn and spawn, so I think i'm going to arrive pre rigged with a senko, trap, spinnerbait, jig, jerk bait, and topwater frog. I have heard about hitting pockets that are protected from north west winds, and hitting backs of creeks. So my main question is how would you guys attack this lake? Topo isn't available as far as I know, so I just have the Satellite view below. Yellow is where i'll be putting in my kayak, blue is a small pond that is cut off from the lake and isn't accessible, although I have bank fished that pond and it is very productive for LMB, and red is where the creek comes in, and at the top of the red square it starts stepping upward so it isn't accessible beyond that point. As far as I know there are crappie, bream, shad, LMB, and (gar?) It might not be gar, it might be another fish. I saw some guys bring one in and was a long fish with a long snout they said they caught with minnows. I would like to fish the main points outside of the pockets, but do I assume that every point in this lake extends beyond the shore since I don't have a topo? I struggle with this on other reservoirs as well without a topo, since sometimes you can't tell by the satellite view if a point extends far out into the lake, or literally just drops off 3 feet from the bank... But how would you guys hit this lake starting at 6:30am? I have pretty much all gear and lures for all techniques for the most part. I would assume stained water after the rains last week. I have a depth finder on the yak as well. Thanks guys! -Mike
  5. Hello wide web i have a question for all of you! I live in the northeast (MA). I have this pond near me, medium in size, clear water and not heavily fished at all. It has a crazy large variety of types of shore line. There is some with lots of fallen trees and beaver dams, some with grass and pads, some with large rocks some just clear shallows and some with sand. The shores usually range from 2-8 feet in depth and gets deep in the middle. There are real monsters in here , I know first hand. What would your strategy be on this pond? Where would you start in the morning? what lures would you use? I am in a kayak so I can cover the entire pond.
  6. Hey everybody. I was wondering how you all approach points. I always read how great they are for holding fish, but haven't really grasped exactly how to break them down and work my lures through/over them. I have read some articles on them, but I think some personal accounts and advice will help me more. For example, do you work your lures from the shallow end (near the bank) down the slope, or across the point? Does this depend on the day? Any help would be appreciated!
