  1. I'm looking to upgrade my spinning gear and have a few models narrowed down, looking for some user feedback or comparisons. I'm looking to buy a 7' +/- M and 7'+/- ML I'd like to stay with the same make and series to avoid having two set ups labeled different but feel the same. As I am in Canada the pricing on rods is quite a bit more and the availability isn't as good. Based on availability I am planning on going with Daiwa Fuego 2500 LT reels they seem to be the best quality for money I can find and can get them locally, if I want to spend a little more I could go to the Shimano Nasci's. The rod's that I'm torn between are: - Daiwa Tatula - St. Croix Mojo - Shimano Intenza (Slightly above what I'd like to spend) I've done some research and they all seem like good rods, however I haven't found much comparing these to each other. If I've missed any others feel free to include them. I'm planning on expanding my casting gear later this year/next year as well. I don't care if my rods are matching but this would most likely be the makes and series I would be looking into as well so experience with these is welcomed too.
  2. I know questions about the Tidemaster may be better suited to a saltwater forum, but I am sure a lot of you guys have experience with this rod that I'd like to hear. I have the 6'6" MHF Casting (1/2- 1 1/4) and absolutely love it! It's a great light inshore rod when you want to throw small diamond jigs and other lures with a LP baitcasting reel, and also doubles as a decent "do all" largemouth rod, especially when pond bank fishing and the 7 footers stay home. The tip is a definitely a bit heavy for a primary largemouth rod, but this is sometimes welcome in NJ when the vegetation gets out of control. The "Fast" action on this series is very unique to me. It is definitely not Avid fast, but I wouldn't say it's a mod-fast either. I like it for casting/football/bladed jigs a lot. Now that St Croix seems to be phasing out this fan favorite series, I am thinking of picking up one or two more in different lengths/actions/powers etc (spinning and/or casting) just because I like the rod so much. I was hoping to hear from anyone who owns other particular models of the Tidemaster that are worth checking out, or are just gems. I know this is a very broad and general question, but I fish for largemouth, stripers/summer flounder in bays and the surf, and bluefish inshore as well, so I could make use of many different rods in the series. Here are some models I have been thinking about and their potential applications for me.. (have not had the chance to hold in hand yet): 7'0" Casting M Power, Fast (3/8- 3/4) - Small spoons for smaller bluefish; double as a decent freshwater swimjig rod 8'0" Spinning MH or H, Fast (1/2-2 or 3/4-3) - Light surf rod for lighter plugs/SP minnows/bucktails Appreciate any insights on the 2-3 specific models I listed above, but more just interested in starting a discussion about this awesome series: What model Tidemasters to do you have? What do you use them for? Which one(s) would you add to your arsenal if this rod became harder to find soon?
  3. Looking to get a new flipping stick at most 7'7 and tied between these 2. Leaning towards mojo because my Dads seems pretty decent and it has a good warranty and seems like a good rod overall. But then there's the endurance, which has no warranty but seems very light and nice from what I've read. I also am curious if the mojos 7'6 model is a good flipping stick or if the 7'4 would be better. Any insight would be nice or a tie breaker, thx and have a nice day.
  4. This originally started as just a thought in my head, followed by research, and now here. I use a St. Croix LTB "Plastics" (new model) with 12lb fluoro as my current light t-rig, shakey head, senko, and finesse jig rod, but because I lack self control it wasn't long before I began looking at some other offerings. Now a lot of us know every manufacturer makes a better rod by application. So, before I inevitably go off and purchase another rod I most definitely do not need, I would like to here some opinions from those whom have experience with these rods or similar. TLDR; I've been eye-balling G. Loomis' NRX 852C & 853C JWR because who hasen't. As well as Dobyn's DX 702C & 703C HP. I've been debating whether NRX claimed "superior lightness and sensitivity" outweigh the Extreme HP's own sensitivity, balance, and obvious value.
  5. Okay so im not a new fisherman but I am new to bigger setups.. My setup right now is a 50$ ugly stick rod and a 40$ abu garcia reel.. Now I'm getting more into bigger stuff, putting more money away for bigger reels and i need help with a new setup.. I fish thick weeds, where if you texas rig the weeds will get caught on the weight. Im looking into a new setup.. I wanted to buy the *** reel *** with 20 pound fireline .. and the rod i want to pair is the st croix mojo bass rod.. IM not sure if this is a good setup like if they'll match up.. I don't know much a lot about every single rod and reel.. But where i fish about 10 minutes down the road is where the state record bass was caught in New York.. And i want a good setup to throw jigs through weeds and be able to do pretty much anything from frogging , to crank baits jigging and some senko setups.. Do you think this will work out well? with some of these i will put a flouro leader, thank you!! Please no hate
  6. Evening all, I’m looking to buy my first St.Croix and have a question about the Avid X. Which model would you recommend for these baits. Z-Man T.R.D + 1/10 & 1/6 jigheads Gitzit 3.5" Tubes + 1/4 jighead Roboworm Fat Worm 4 1/2" + 3/16 shaky head Rage Tail Baby Craw 3“ + 3/16 jighead ( I prefer spinning) IMO the 6.9ML/XF (1/8-1/2) or 7M/F (3/16-5/8) but not sure about that. Sorry for simple linguistic expression Thanks
  7. Im thinking of buying a 5 foot 6 ultra light 2 piece stcroix triumph to upgrade from the old Shakespeare starter kit rod (all that is left of that combo). Is this a good rod for stream trout? I want an ul because I had a light rod and had trouble casting a 1/32 oz powerbait atomic teaser jig to the other side of the stream. I would also use it for sunfish in my local pond. Im also on a bit of a budget, 90 is about my max.Is this rod a good idea?
