  1. I disconnected my boat's starting/cranking battery and when I went to put the new battery in I realized that there was a 3rd wire that seems to come from toward the front of the boat. I connected the 2 wires from the motor, red and black, and it worked. So I don't know where this 3rd wire (black) is from (left disconnected). Is it from the boat's battery gauge, and if it is, does it go on the positive or negative terminal? I know it's not for a charger as I have that disconnected.
  2. Morning everyone, I've bass fished for awhile now but mostly bank fishing in ponds or renting a boat on chickahominy lake. I was looking to get into tournament fishing and a forum on bass pro's site said join my local bass club but I'm not sure how to go about it so I was looking for a direction to go. Thank you in advance
  3. I've always brought my boat back to the garage and immediately plugged it into the onboard charger. I've always left the trolling motor and starter marine batteries plugged in 24/7 all year long, including during the winter with the boat in a heated pole barn or garage. I've had 2 boats, one with a high end Dual Pro Professional Series and low end Minn Kota charger. Someone said that you shouldn't leave it plugged in 24/7 if the onboard charger doesn't have a 'maintenance/trickle' charge function. I just assumed that all newer onboard chargers had maintenance/trickle charge built-in but apparently not. He said he brings his boat home, plugs it in until it's charged, about a day, then removes it. If he doesn't go out right away again he'll plug in the onboard charger the night before he goes out. Don't today's onboard chargers have maintenance/trickle charge feature and are meant to be left plugged in 24/7 all-year long? Even if it has a maintenance/trickle charge feature are you supposed to unplug it after it's fully charged? So, are you supposed to leave your Boat Batteries plugged in 24/7 all-year long on the Onboard Charger?
  4. Hello, I am curious to see if you have any advice on how to start a local bass club. After doing multiple searches I have not been able to locate many open tournaments or clubs in my area for the non boater. I plan on purchasing a boat in the future but it just isn't in the budget at the moment but I would like to have the ability to compete. Since I have been unsuccessful in finding a club to join in or around Shelbyville Ky I thought that I may just start one. Any advise or direction would be much appreciated.
  5. Since Christmas is coming soon and I need to start formulating the list for the 'rents, what gear would you recommend for a beginning bass angler? I have a $150 limit for a rod and reel, and then anywhere between $100-$200 more for the rest. As well as lures, what kind of line, tools, tackle boxes/bags, terminal tackle, etc would y'all deem necessary to have for someone just starting out?
  6. I Know there can be a ton of variables and this may be the same as many of ya'lls all around favorite lures as well, but what is your go to lure and in what color (i know that can vary as well) for the first time you fish a new body of water?
