  1. I’m looking for a good ultra light rod and reel combination to do some fishing out of a kayak. I’d be fishing mostly for bream/bluegill, crappie, and small bass, although the lakes I fish all have good numbers of bigger largemouth and spotted bass. I do most of my fishing now with a St. Croix Premier 6’-6’” MLF rod and a Pflueger President 30 reel, which have been great for bass fishing. Around here the fishing can be good almost any time of year, but I want an ultra light set up for those days where the bite is tough or I just want to catch some fish and have fun doing it. So I’m leaning towards another St. Croix/Pflueger combination, but there are a lot of choices out there, and I’m open to any suggestions. I don’t want to spend more than about $200 on the rod, although I’d prefer something more in the Premier price range, and no more than about $75 on the reel. I’ve looked closely at the St. Croix Premier, Panfish, and Avid series. I’m thinking I need at least a 6’-6” rod to be able to throw 1/32” lures, and probably a size 20 reel. I’m assuming it should be fast action, since most of the UL choices seem to be. I would like the rod to be sensitive enough for light bites from panfish. Any thoughts on the best rod and reel specs and recommendations? Thanks!
  2. Does anyone have the 7'4" Heavy, Fast Action, St. Croix Mojo Bass? If so, does anyone pitch with it? Wondering if it's good with braid and sensitive enough for pitching?
  3. Does anybody here have experience with the 2016 model St. Croix Mojo Bass? I used to see mixed reviews on them, but from what I hear, the new model uses the same blank as the St. Croix Avid. Give me you thoughts!
  4. Okay so im not a new fisherman but I am new to bigger setups.. My setup right now is a 50$ ugly stick rod and a 40$ abu garcia reel.. Now I'm getting more into bigger stuff, putting more money away for bigger reels and i need help with a new setup.. I fish thick weeds, where if you texas rig the weeds will get caught on the weight. Im looking into a new setup.. I wanted to buy the *** reel *** with 20 pound fireline .. and the rod i want to pair is the st croix mojo bass rod.. IM not sure if this is a good setup like if they'll match up.. I don't know much a lot about every single rod and reel.. But where i fish about 10 minutes down the road is where the state record bass was caught in New York.. And i want a good setup to throw jigs through weeds and be able to do pretty much anything from frogging , to crank baits jigging and some senko setups.. Do you think this will work out well? with some of these i will put a flouro leader, thank you!! Please no hate
