  1. Do you think this would be a good setup for a shallow (1-12ft) crankbait rod reel combo? My budget is ~ $100-$170. This rod would be getting a TON of use and I don’t really know brands too well so I just wanted to ask you guys what you thought and if I could trust these brands to hold up for at least a few seasons. Shimano Curado Crankbait Casting Rod 7’2” Medium Moderate Action Glass/Graphite $159.99 Quantum Smoke S3 PT Baitcast Reel 6.1:1 $169.95
  2. Im thinking about getting a new reel for spinnerbaits and squarebills I have always used 63,64 but times seem to be changing and a lot of you are using 71,74 for theses aplications. I have a 71 for jigs worms to retrieve my line quick when pitching but what do you guys think on spinnerbaits and squarebills chatterbaits is 71,74 best for these aplications? Should I get with the times? What are you guys using?
  3. I've only gotten into shallow cranking over the last few years, well seriously anyway. Something I saw from a video clip with Rick Clunn turned the light on for me & since, shallow cranking has become my top confidence bait for numbers & big bass. I have a number of baby 1-, KVD squarebills, etc. I was about to pull the trigger on a few of these Yo-Zuri 3DB shallow cranks earlier while I was window shopping on TW. These prism colors sure look good. Anybody use these much? But it also got me wondering what some of everybody's fav shallow cranks were.
  4. So I have never fished a squarebill until recently. I love the action and I love that I can bounce them around rocks and logs. Over the weekend I tied on a brand new KVD 1.5. I casted it out and felt the action of the lure. Then, nothing. No wiggle, no wobble, no dive. Nothing. I was fishing in patches of weeds, so I reeled it in thinking there were weeds on the hooks, but instead I found that the bill broke off... Has anyone had this issue? Do you think there is any way I can fix it or modify it into something else? It just sucks that I spend $6 on a lure and then 2-3 casts into fishing it, it just breaks.
  5. WHich do you prefer tight or wide action crankbaits and when...and in what cover. How would you tell in store the action a crankbait would have. I have never seen why somebody would want a tight action and as such i gravitate more towards stickbaits than shad crank unless they are sharebills. What aboud you?
