  1. Hey guys! Just posted review of the 2022 Daiwa Exist LT. Was going to write out my review on here but figured it deserved its own video on my YouTube channel. (Jadoobassin) Hope you guys enjoy it. Would love to hear your thoughts about the reel too! Thanks for the support! - Umair
  2. Ok...I've got to sell a few of my rods! All cork has been U40 treated when new. And rod sleeves come with each rod. I am pretty meticulous with my gear. 1. Shimano Expride 7'2" MH - perfect condition -$190 can send photos if pm me email or phone number 3. Shimano Expride 7M Spinning Rod: $190. 4. Shimano Expride 6'6 Medium - $175 5. Lews TP170MH -$65 6. Shimano SLX 710H - $65 7. Dobyns Champion xp 705CB- $140
  3. Hi, everybody ! I've got a $100 Bass Pro Gift card for my birthday. And I'd like to buy Rod and Reel for Largemouth Bass fishing. What best I can get from Bass Pro for $100 ? What do you think about this combo ? http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Tourney-Special-Spinning-Combo-7-Medium-Power/product/1408280630271/#desc-tab Thank you all !
  4. I'm looking to upgrade my spinning gear and have a few models narrowed down, looking for some user feedback or comparisons. I'm looking to buy a 7' +/- M and 7'+/- ML I'd like to stay with the same make and series to avoid having two set ups labeled different but feel the same. As I am in Canada the pricing on rods is quite a bit more and the availability isn't as good. Based on availability I am planning on going with Daiwa Fuego 2500 LT reels they seem to be the best quality for money I can find and can get them locally, if I want to spend a little more I could go to the Shimano Nasci's. The rod's that I'm torn between are: - Daiwa Tatula - St. Croix Mojo - Shimano Intenza (Slightly above what I'd like to spend) I've done some research and they all seem like good rods, however I haven't found much comparing these to each other. If I've missed any others feel free to include them. I'm planning on expanding my casting gear later this year/next year as well. I don't care if my rods are matching but this would most likely be the makes and series I would be looking into as well so experience with these is welcomed too.
  5. About to buy my first spinning reel for finesse fishing. (ned rigs, drop shot, etc.) I'm kind of leaning towards the new Pflueger President XT. What are the advantages of the XT over the regular version? It'll be paired with a Shimano Clarus spinning rod.
  6. Hello everyone, I would like to get into bass fishing. My fishing has all been done in Ireland on lakes and rivers. I’ve been a few times here in California. It seems like Bass is the way to go for me. I’ve been watching a lot of videos on what to use and what not to use. And I really have no idea weather to pick up a bait caster or a spinning rig? There’s so much back and fourth. I’m not looking to land a trophy right off the bat. I’m looking to catch some bass no matter what size and learn the proper techniques and go from there. If you could lend some info that would be great. Also if anyone has any advice on Southern California bass fishing. I heard pyramid lake for fall so far. thanks guys
  7. hi friends, i have bought a shimano siena 1000 i would like to match it with a light rod in the same range of price as the siena, i will use it to finesse and light spinning with lures in fresh water, i want a very light combo to be able to feel more the fight against the fish i have in my area which are not to big enough to give a good fight so i dont really enjoy to fish it with my other heavier tackle... so i hope you tell me your experience with this rods if you have used it, thank you very much 1. berkley cherrywood hd light: Hybrid design construction for increased sensitivity with the security of through handle construction SS304 Guides - with Stainless Steel inserts Cork handle design for added comfort and grip ROD POWER Light ROD LENGTH 5'6" NUMBER OF PIECES 2 LINE RATING 2-6lb 2. 8. Hi all ? Wondering what fluorocarbon you use for Spinning reel and baitcasters. I tried out several few years back for spinning and baitcasters. I liked Sunline Super FC Sniper Flourocarbon for my baitcasters. Really like how it performs! I’ve used Suffix fluorocarbon but it would tangle as season gone on. Not a big fan it’s just “decent.” whats your fluorocarbon for spinning and baitcasters!? How is the Suffix Flourocarbon Advance? Seen it was new. Thanks!
  9. What is everyone’s take on using bass jigs or creature baits with casting or spinning set ups? I know casting typically reels faster but what advantages/disadvantages do you see with both type of setups? Im setting up both using braided line with leader. #2 question is I understand the advantages of a fluorocarbon leader, but why not a mono leader with mist green line?
  10. I target LMB, I fish alot of texas rigged Senkos, craws, 1/8oz jigs, etc.. I am planning on picking up a Tatula LT, but I can’t decide on the 2000 or 2500 size. I’m using 20lb braid to a fluoro leader, so no thick line. Pairing it with a 7’1 Med Fast Rod. Which should I get and why? (2000, or 2500)
  11. I bought 3 new spinning reels in last week or so. Kinda having my own little comparison test. All within $10 of costing $50. They're all 2500/3000 size range. Pflueger President, Pflueger Trion and Shimano Sahara. Hadn't really fished em yet. Just playing with em around the house. So far, I like the Pfluegers best. Problem with the Sahara is the little switch you flip to backreel is oddly placed and teeny-tiny. I've found the best casting setup to be braid with a floro or mono leader. Couple are spooled up straight copoly but probably change them to braid eventually. It's just so smooth casting. I was tossing the Sahara with 10-lb Power Pro and man it's accurate.
  12. Hey all, I am currently on a budget right now so I’m looking for the best spinning rod and reel combo for $60-80 which is cheap but I also believe even with the price you can still snag a quality combo. I currently am working with Lew’s American Hero Bait caster combo and I’ve caught my number of fish on it. I am looking to expand my rod and reel collection with different types. Mainly looking for a 1 piece, medium action. Any suggestions for your best cheap rod and reel combo!? Feel free to share your experiences!
  13. Alright, my big question is are Copper River rods of a respectable quality? Id never even heard of them until I saw them on sale at Cabela's earlier this week. But my cheap college student self couldn't pass up a $25 spinning rod that felt good with the testing it got in store. It handled several 2-3 lb bass at the lake well when paired with my Pflueger Presidential very well, but I want to know if this sucker is going to blow up on me after a few trips to the lake?
  14. I'm looking for a spinning rod in a medium action/ moderate tip to get for my lady. This will be for throwing small-ish reaction baits of about 6-11 grams. Namely, squarebills and lipless crankbaits, small swimbaits and underspins with exposed hooks, little spinnerbaits and the occasional popper. Something in about 6'10" preferably, and "budget friendly", a la Dobyns Colt. Extra points for bright colors. She likes bright colors. The reel will be spooled with braid (10-12#) and a fluoro leader for everything but topwater. Thanks in advance for your help.
  15. I'm looking for some additional spools that I can carry with me on the boat or to the bank. I have a few set ups and there's instances when I want to switch to straight fluoro/mono from straight braid and I don't want to have to respool. Specifically Daiwa spools, casting and spinning and Shimano spinning.
  16. Today I had a conversation about spinning reels and baitcasting reels with a coworker. He said he rarely if ever uses a Baitcaster so I asked him why. He basically said that anything he can throw on a Baitcaster he could throw on a spinning outfit but not the other way around. He said he has been using spinning gear for so long that he feels he is just as accurate and gets longer casts than with a Baitcaster, and he never has to worry about back lashing. I thought his comments were interesting but I am leaning just the other way. I'm really starting to like using a Baitcaster but feel as a bank bound Angler I shouldn't give up on my Spinning Reel just yet but am really fighting the urge to do so. Would love to get some of your opinions on this.
  17. Hi there, I'm looking to get some expert advice on crankbait rods and reels for largemouth bass. I've been fishing for a while, but inconsistently- from a time commitment perspective and species. I'm going to buy a new rod and reel specifically for crankbaits and have been doing a fair amount of research (maybe too much) to inform my decision on rod selection. Most of the forum questions, debates, etc seem to focus on brands (Dobyns, St. Croix, G Loomis and many more) and less on specific qualities/specifications of rods. From what I can tell and for my purposes (I fish on lakes where the max depth is 20' in some places; don't fish rivers; lures are mostly under 1 oz; and I'd like some versatility to be able to throw the occasional spinnerbait, lipless crank or popper lures), the ideal crankbait (spinning) rod appears to be a 7' medium power and fast action and either graphite or glass. A reel's gear ratio seems to range from 5:1 to 6.3:1, but since I mostly fish in shallow waters that are under 12' deep I should probably go with the 6.3:1 gear ratio. Does that sound about right to folks? Any additional insights/considerations are greatly appreciated too. For what it's worth, I'd like to spend under $250, which is a decent chunk of change, but I'd rather buy 1 great rod (for now) and not waste time and money. This leads me to my next, but less pressing question- if a rod meets all the necessarily qualifications/specs for it's intended technique, why spend a ton of money on a brand? Thank you very much, el Largo
  18. I bought a brand new pflueger president in the 20 size yesterday at my local sportsman's warehouse and feel like it should be more smooth. I can live with how it feels at the moment but the reviews i read all said that the reel was butter smooth. it makes a bit of noise when cranking and am wondering if mine has a dry bearing or something wrong with it. maybe I have to add more lube to the handle and spool. or maybe i just need to fish with it and see if it gets broken in. I don't know. how could I get it to be more smooth? I am not experienced with maintenance on reels so tell me what you all think
  19. I have a 7'1, 1 power spinning powell rod i plan on using for ned rigs, dropshots, and occasionally trout. I Need a reel, and don't want to break the bank. What should i buy for it, in a size small enough for this light setup?
  20. I'm looking to try my hand at building a custom rod for casting & spinning reels. Where would I mount the line guides? On or below the spine? Would a two-piece rod work for me, or should I go with a single piece? What kit(s) (Netcraft / Mudhole, etc) should I look at? Ideally I'm looking to build a 7'6" to 8'6" two-piece rod. For my first kit I'd prefer to stay under $250.00 Thx,
  21. I typically fish with two rods one for Texas rig the other for wacky. In the past I've always done 7 ft MH F for both but not sure what is best for my wacky set up. I do fish heavy cover, in MA and NH, every time and use green braid line. Whats the best spinning rod (length and action) and braid (lb. test and brand) for wacky rig in heavy cover?
  22. What is a good company to get a custom rod from? I have never purchased one before.
  23. Hello everyone .... on 01.02.2018 considering the decreasing atmospheric pressure and a disturbance on arrival I decide to go fishing in a beach in the North West Sardinia. I arrive on site at about 13.30, the wave is not the best but the bad weather is coming ... I mount my Awa shima from 2.40m with Shimano Excage 4000 reel and ... The first launches do not lead to anything ... but I sell from the west starts to mount and shake an area of rocks outcrops ... I move them .... and after a dozen launches comes the STRIKE ... my Super minnow lineeffe 12cm struck: pesca2: !! Start fighting, I have to be careful not to make it end up between the rocks ... and after about 1 minute I can beach it .... a beautiful queen of over 2kg: D Taken the one I decide to leave .... for that day was enough and advanced! I enclose the video of the capture ... thanks to everyone and good sea!
  24. I have a new Lew's Tournament TS300 spinning reel. Before it was used, when i would crank the reel,I could hear a faint hissing sound, like something was rubbing up against something else in the reel when the spool rotated. After fishing with it twice, it's gotten louder. I have tried other reels and know they are usually silent. I could only describe this sound as a very soft version of what it sounds like when you have a piece of paper stuck in a bike tire spoke. This reel was sold at $80, (has since been discontinued) so I would expect a silent reel. Do any of you reel experts know what this could be, or how to fix it? I already reoiled some parts but most of the reel is still fresh with grease from the factory. It gives the reel a sort of "dry" feeling instead of smooth like butter. I tookit apart and could not see anything stuck in there.
  25. Should a brand new spinning reel out of the box spin freely when you turn the handle? By this I mean should you be able to crank the handle firmly and have the reel turn over multiple times, ie more than two or three? I just purchased a new Okuma RTX online and when I took it out of the box, the retrieve, when turning the handle, feels VERY stiff. When I "spin" the handle, it may revolve once, one and a half times max. Is that normal? My shimanos will turn 4 times easy when you crank the handle, with no stiff feeling what so ever.. I am not sure if this is the measure of a reel's smoothness or not. The Okuma RTX (which I read has been compared to the Ci4) I just received feels so much stiffer than my other reels. It is smooth with you turn the handle, ie no grinding, no gear mashing, no negative feedback other than just a firmer starting inertia than my other reels. Just curious if I should send it back under the notion that there is something not right with the reel? I would appreciate any feedback on this topic. Thank you.
