  1. Big things happening y'all! I am moving from Kennesaw, GA to Auburn, AL this summer. What are good places to fish for bass in the area? I am gonna continue to hold a GA fishing license in addition to an AL license, so that broadens my horizons. Also, I'm investing in a nice fishing kayak so I can cover some water. Lakes Harding, and Martin look like the closest big bodies of water. There also seem to be a lot of small lakes and ponds in the Auburn/Opelika area. I know nothing about those bodies of water. Any suggestions about fishing the area, the bodies of water, and/or tackle would be hugely appreciated! Cheers
  2. So... I'm from the Southeast US, Alabama, Georgia, etc. and I've fished my share of bass, bluegill, etc. Recently, I moved to Minnesota. They say fishing up here is a lot different. I'm not that experienced with fishing out here. So, I was wondering is fishing that different from region to region? Have I just walked into a sensitive subject that I should just start running from? Nonetheless, I like the fishing opportunities up here. Everyone of my neighbors has a boat it seems.
  3. Never heard of casting a drop shot until my last high school tournament when my boat captain said '' Throw that drop shot around the Shoal marker " I looked at him like he was crazy but sure enough first cast i caught a keeper fish. I've been thinking any of you guys like to do anything special to your drop shot rig to make it better. I've heard of drop shotting Rage Craws with a round bend hook instead of a drop shot hook. Any Ideas?
  4. So me and one of my good fishin' buddies are taking a trip up to about an 8-acre creek-fed pond this weekend and were wondering a bit about preferred tackle. Neither of us has done much wintertime fishing before but had done plenty of river and pond largemouth fishing in the warmer months. I know there are fish in this pond and have caught my fair share here over the years. We were both planning on each taking a fly rod and also a spinning rod. If anybody could refer us to what types of flies and lures or rigs to fish, that would be great. Air temperature will probably be high 40's. Not sure about water temperature. Thanks guys
  5. I live in Northeast Georgia and I fish this pond behind my house and some other local ponds once in a while. My main pond has heavy vegetation around it and it is a retention pond so it has about 8-12 foot ledge in spots that drops off but I am not sure how deep the middle of the pond is. I have had some luck in the evenings with a frog but not much else is working so far this year. It is somewhat hard to locate cover but i have a little luck and the bottom of the pond is mostly muddy and slimy vegetation. What is your go to bait/lure in this situation, what color, and how do you fish it?
