  1. Hey people, im justin, 30 year old nonboater thats been fishing the banks of hartwell around the bridges and what not of portman marina for long while. Im in search of a boater that is in need of a coangler for fishing in general and hopefully a couple small tournaments here and there since my last partner moved to charleston. Ill pay my half in gas per usual as well as half entry and big fish for any tournaments and split any winnings 60/40 60 going to the boater to cover gas and any wear and tear. Thanks for reading, and catch a lunker for me.
  2. I am planning on going to Santee this Friday for the first time in my boat. I've fished as a co-angler twice so i have a very basic understand of the lake. Does anybody from that area have any tips or a map for navigation? EDIT: And when I say navigating I don't mean which creeks are where and such. There are area's you can ride in safely and area's you cant, just looking for some help on how to tell where to ride. I will mostly be fishing around Church Is. area. Thanks
  3. Have any of you fished Lake George Warren in Hampton, SC? Are there any decent sized bass 2 pounds and up to be found there? It's about an hour drive from here and I was thinking of giving it a try. We're going to rent a Jon boat for the day. The only issue is that you can't rent the boats until 8 am and they have to be returned by 4:45. That's not exactly prime fishing hours, especially on a hot July day. But we'll still have a good time with family and friends.
  4. I’m taking our 4 young kids to Wateree for Spring Break the first week of April. While I’m from S.C. I’m in the Army and been away for years. Looking for the best tips/techniques this time of year. Thx in advance for the advice!
  5. What lakes/rivers hold smallmouth in SC? I've heard that you can catch them at jocassee, and monticello is there anywhere else?
  6. One of the lagoons that we fish has a lot of wind blown thick, soupy weeds and algae that piles up that provides some good cover for bass. There are a few small breaks in it and because it's so dense it's generally a pain to fish. But we all know it's fun to toss a frog over cover and have the bass come crashing through the crud even if the hookup rate is low. So the other week I'm fishing the frog over this gunk and get a pretty good hit. I wait a second for the fish to take it downward and set the hook. It feels like a decent size and has a pretty good fight. I'm fishing over elevated railroad ties, through the gunk and then over weeds so I yell to my son to bring the net. We never reach way down to the water with only our hands from an elevated position here in SC and the attached picture shows why. Instead of a nice, big bass a small alligator hit my frog and he wasn't about to let go anytime soon. When I got him near shore he just sat there on the weed bed with the frog in his mouth and wouldn't let go. So I picked him up out of the water a bit and that just made him mad. He spent nearly 5 minutes spinning and thrashing until he finally had enough and let go. This wasn't our first encounter with a gator. Last month when I was reeling in a 4 pounder a 4-5 foot gator made a bee line for the bass as I was reeling it in. On this lagoon it was about a 5 foot drop from the elevated railroad ties to the water. As I go to bring p the fish my rod tip snaps. My son grabs the net, lays on the ground reaching down as the gator comes barrelling towards the bass. My son bopped the gator on the head with the net and scooped the fish to preserve my catch. The small gators are a nuisance and you try and fish around them. But when the big gators show up we usually move on to another lagoon. Whether you're catching them or not it's always exciting fishing here in the South Carolina Lowcountry.
  7. I'm going on a family vacation next week to Myrtle Beach (Technically Surfside Beach). Does anyone know any good places to fish from the bank around there? I'm staying near Ocean Lakes in anyone knows where that is. Also whats a good color soft plastic for the area? Thanks
  8. Anyone on here know any clubs or friendly weekend tournamants that are anywhere close to the hilton head/beaufort area? It seems the only groups or clubs i can find around here are for redfish or offshore. I am an outfitter at a fishing/golf plantation down here and am just trying to get involved in a bass fishing group in the area. If not, I am willing to start something if we get some people involved. Everyone is welcomed. Any ideas?
  9. I live in the South Carolina midlands and need help for fishing ponds during the colder months. I've been trying fineese jigs and shaky heads but it hasn't been working.
  10. What's up everyone! I'm in Irmo,SC and primarily fish Lake Murray for largemouth. If anyone has room let me know. I don't have a boat right now. Good luck to everyone ripping lips!
  11. Hey gang, I'm fairly new with bass fishing, but Ive officially caught the bug. I havent been bassing on a boat yet, but Ive been doing alot of local pond hopping. I'm in the midst of trying to find some local lakes that offer boat rentals so I can get on the water. If anyone can steer me in the right direction, that would save me a giant headache

Hello fishing peers, You can call me Regi or Jr.I go to college in Greensboro, NC.My mother stays in Riverdale,GA which is a little suburb. My dad stays in Goose Creek, SC.I am also from Gainesville, FL. I was wondering do guys in any of these locations know of fishing spots in these areas or around them.In GA,I've found a couple of spots in Fayette,Clayton, and Henry county since those areas are as far as I usually go.Atlanta has been hard for me to find spots since staying with my mom during college breaks in a city.In SC, I tend to mostly be in Goose Creek,Charleston,Walterboro area because of family. In NC, I've fished the Greensboro,Burlington,Fayetteville, and Jacksonville areas.Burlington I have had a lot of success. In FL,I know a lot of places in Gainesville,Williston,Chiefland,Bronson,Jacksonville.I mostly be in Gainesville or Williston in Florida due to family also.Fishing is a real passion of mine, hopefully I can share information and locations with you guys and vice versa. 13. Does anyone know some good places to bass fish in South Carolina, I don't have a boat as of now. So i can only bank fish, I'm not looking for the biggest catch, but i would like to catch a 1 pound to 2 pound bass. I'm in Darlington (north west of Florence) and the maximum i would drive is about 2 hours. Thanks and God Bless -John Alan Thomas
  14. Hello! I am fairly new at fishing on bass beds! Okay i have some questions first 1: What kind of rigs should i use? 15. I've been wanting to club fish so bad but the only club in my area isn't really for me because the guys that are in it are more on the biggity side im more relaxed and talk to everyone i meet and treat them like family kinda person. They aren't like that. But moving on I wanna know what it would take to start a simple club not a tournament based club but just to have fun with people who love to fish and maybe put on our own local tournaments. Anyone have advice or had luck with things like this im wide open for ideas.
  16. I was wondering if anyone has any good information on Fishing Fishing Creek in South Carolina? I have searched the web but have came up with very little. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  17. I'm heading down to fish a tournament in South Carolina and wanted to load the maps for Santee Cooper. I leave early next Wednesday morning to head down to scout and pre-fish. I have a Lowrance Elite-5 DSI that has the basic map loaded but not the smaller contours that are loaded on the card.
  18. I have been fishing from the shore my entire life, whether its bass or in the ocean but yesterday I bought a nice little 12 foot fishing kayak. I am going to southern part of Lake Keowee in South Carolina next weekend and I realize I have a problem. I dont know how to fish for bass from a boat. All I am used to is fishing what structure I can see or get to from shore. So what is the difference between fishing on land and in a boat and how should I go about fishing from my kayak? Thanks in advanced guys!
  19. Hey guys....new to the forum but I love reading it. Really appreciate everyones advice. My name is Jeremy, I run the activities/events for the marina at a fishing plantation. Just started a couple months ago and I can honestly say...other than being paid to strictly fish, I couldnt be happier and ENJOY my new fishing related job. My life has literally turned around and im lucky to be in this spot especially coming from a job that i was misreble in. Since our platation is on the ocean, no one really seems to have time for bass fishing and im trying to bring that back to this community. We have 14 stocked ponds that me and my boss are in charge of taking care of and im quickly learning thanks to help from my coworkers and the advice from the good people on this site. Im looking to throw some evening friendly fishing events around here and just meet some people in the South Carolina lowcountry that have interests in bass fishing. Feel free to write me and I look forward to hearing from you folks. GO GAMECOCKS!
  20. Good afternoon, Im Drew, I live in South Carolina, think I have introduced myself before but anyways. I fish alot of small ponds and lakes in the Greenville area, usually neighborhood places that are often extremely over fished. They are very close and convienent, but the fishing is sometime a let down. I usually pull one or two in on a natural colored shallow crankbait, but I wanna expand what I can catch fish on. Ive tried jigs and spinners and deep divers and never get any hits. Wondering if maybe I am doing something wrong. Any advice?
  21. Headed that way to meet up with some freinds. Any suggestions on some good lakes or ponds to fish on, Ive been to Robinson and Cunningham out in Greer? about two years ago. Im looking for some new places. Any suggestions!?
  22. Hey guys, the local lake I fish here in SC has water temps ranging from 57-63 degrees. The water is affected by two nuclear plants which make the water a little warmer than normal. Im assuming the bass are in a late pre-spawn/early spawn stage. Would my best bet be to either stay in shallow water, or stick with the seconday points which offer a little deeper water this weekend? We actually caught a few bass in 20-25 feet of water last weekend, and that just really threw me off my game plan. Im pretty sure that they're not locked on to any beds yet, but with 80 degree days this past week, Im guessing it wont be long. Any tips as far as baits and what you guys would look for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
