  1. I have a 2004 AutoPilot Minn Kota trolling motor with built in sonar and want to upgrade my fish finder that is currently connected to it, does anyone have information on what fish finders may be compatible and what adapters may be required? Thank you
  2. I've been going out and trying to work on identifying structure, and how to fish it. I've been looking at satellite images to get hints, and then finding road beds, humps, ledges etc with my graph, but it got me thinking. If you were able to visit a lake that for the purposes of this discussion was void of all water and walk around with a GPS, what kind of stuff would you mark? Then once our hypothetical reservoir was refilled, how would you fish these areas?
  3. I’m looking to get to remove a flush mounted (at the console )Humminbird 999 . Tried removing screws and just pulling but didn’t want to go break anything . I have a skeeter 2014 zx190 If that helps. Please and thanks!
  4. I just purchased the Lowrance HDS gen 3 with the 7" screen it has the 3d structure scan this past summer for my bass boat. I'm still amazed at what I was missing out on utilizing only 2d sonar and not able to interpret that thing without a chart. I still feel like I haven't learned about how to get the best picture. My question is how can I get the very best picture of whats on the structure scan (side scan), down scan, and 2d? What khZ should each of the 3 sonar panels be in for instance 2d in high chirp, and down scan on 800khZ? How far should I be scanning out to the sides with the structure scan (side scan)? This defaults to 455khZ on side scan (I called lowrance they said it was normal because of the transducer having 3d capabilities). I think I can change down scan between 800 and 455khZ I have to look back to be certain. I like running 4 screens at once the 4th being my chart screen or I could give or take 2d at times. I generally bass fish in rivers and creeks depth mostly being at 15 feet at times in stained water, however I have seen it 30 to 40 feet. My transducers are the SS3d and the 83/200 skimmer transducer with the structure scan box.
  5. I am looking for a GPS/GLONASS fishfinder and a transducer. My purpose is a bit on the unorthodox side. I work for a small civil engineering firm that assesses and and designs countermeasures for bridges. Many of our sites are over substantial rivers such as the Rio Grande and Colorado River. The overall goal is to be able to get accurate depth measurements from the transducer that will be logged in a gps unit. The setup will be on a small fishing boat and we will run cross sections upstream and downstream of the structure to get a representation of the channel. We are looking for a transducer with a narrow cone angle in order to get an accurate depth measurement. We also need a gps fishfinder that will log our location and depth as we move through the channel. Any help in selecting the proper equipment would be highly appreciated.
  6. Looking into some fish finder upgrades and came across some steep discounts on Garmin echoMAP 93sv and Garmin echoMap 73sv units.
  7. Hey guys just saw this video on the new Garmin Panoptix sonar. It looks like it has potential to be a real game changer with 3D live views of both in front of and under the boat. It supposedly allows you to see your bait as you retrieve it as well as seeing fish moving towards you or away from you and even if they're chasing after your bait. It officially debuts tomorrow at some big marine show in Miami. What are your guys thoughts on this? Do you think it'll be as big of a game changer as side and down imaging? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2AtZb9_z_k
  8. I need some help setting up my humminbird 561 sonar. When I turn the unit on the sonar shows nothing but grey. I have reduced the noise and the sensitivity and it dulls down the grey but thats it. Never shows fish or much structure. I really know nothing about sonars and would like help atleast with basic settings to get the sonar going.
  9. Just bought myself a Nitro NX 882 2000 18'2''. It has no electronics on it. I want to know what would be the best setup under 2500$, trolling motor mount and consol mount, Where should I put the best one with Side imaging? I cant afford two units with side imaging so... ? Humminbird? Lowrance? what do you guys think??
