I was curious what size oring for senko was big enough to not cut into the senko currently use oring size od 3/8 and id 1/4 it works well with one but want to increase hookup ratio as it seems ive lost more senkos with 2 orings
Was thinking about getting size 1/2” od and 3/8” id but do you guys think its too big or what
I'm thinking of buying an Okuma Epixor and confused on sizing. I'm looking to get a 30 size reel but saw somewhere that with Okuma I should go up to 40 as that is equivalent to a Daiwa/Shimano 30. Is there any truth to this?
So I am going to be getting a new ultralight combo for catching panfish and trout and I'm curious about others opinions on my choices for rod/reel I want to stay in the range of 150ish bucks for rod and reel combined
Rod:
Daiwa presso 6ft ultralight
Reels:
Pfluger president
Pfluger president xt
Daiwa RG
I have seen good reviews for the rod and all the reels but I am not sure what reel to get. does anyone have experience with these reels and if so give me you thoughts please :) and also what size should I get them in?
Hey there, for bass fishing, what size Spinning Reel would you tend to think is more versatile, a 200, 2000 , size or 250, 2500 size? I'm using braid so I'm not sure how critical diameter is.
I've got a 2500 and am going to buy another reel and wondering if I should get the same size or go a little smaller?
Hey there, need some advice on size and color of some squarebills. I have a coupon for Basspro and am going to be buying some KVD squarebills that are on sale. I have no idea what size or color to get. I'm fishing from the bank and will be fishing lakes and small ponds. Also do I get silent types as well as rattles or stay with one or the other?
Thanks
I bought my 2 sons a Daiwa Revros 3000H and Pflueger President 30 spinning reels and I want to find the right size rods for these reels. I've search everywhere on the internet and the info I've found is a little confusing.
They only freshwater fish mostly for bass. When I searched for the Pflueger, the results were anywhere from a 6 ft to a 7.5 ft rod. When I searched for the Daiwa, the results were an 8.5 ft to a 9 ft rod.
Why such a discrepancy when the 2 reels are basically the same size? I'm only looking at Ugly Stiks Elites, but I don't know if I should get a 6 ft, 6.5 ft or 7 ft rod. I think a 7.5 ft and certainly a 8.5 or 9 ft rod is way too big especially if they'll mainly be fishing from a row boat.
Am I wrong? Also, any thoughts on Med vs Med/Heavy and 1 or 2 piece?
Good Morning,
I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm in the process of seeking my first boat to run the Susquehanna. 90% of my time will be on the Susquehanna and the other on local lakes. I will probably have 2-3 people total at any point in time out on the boat. Here are my questions about my purchase.
1. Am I correct in thinking I don't want anything smaller than a 16'?
2. I've narrowed down to three boats.
2014 Lowe Roughneck 1756 SC with a 40hp jet
2011 G3 1860cc 65hp jet
2005 G3 1652cc 30hp jet (significantly less $)
3. Should I be concerned about the hp output of any of the engines listed above?
4. Would the roughneck and the 1860 be larger boats than I would need? I fish once a week during the season.
I sincerely appreciate any incite and I look forward to returning the favor!
I enjoy fishing jigs for an obvious reason, but my question concerns flipping, casting, and football head jigs. what weight heads are the best for these jigs? I imagine something heavy such as maybe 3/4 for a flipping jig, but I don't know. I'm looking to further extend my jig collection so any advice would be apprecicated.
i know you should closely match the hook diameter to the thickness of the line you are using, right? because too thin a line and too thick a hook, you can easily break the line or knot. and vise-versa you can straighten or unbend the hook.
my question is, i use 6 or 8lb (i dont remember) silverline co-polymer line on my 6'6ft medium light spinning rod. with a shimano sahara 2500 reel.
i like to use finesse worms and senkos, drop shotting and no hooking wacky rig etc etc.. what hooks are o.k. to use with such thin line?
i have 1 o/t offset worm hooks, and size 2, 4 and 6 octopus and baitholder hooks... are these okay? or is there a super thin wire hook for such line?
I am wondering how to know if a rod and reel are balanced well. I have heard of placing your finger where the cork or composite meets the blank and it should balance out, is this an accurate way? The reason I ask is I'm in the market for a pflueger president and am debating between the 6930 and 6935. For instance, if I buy the St. Croix premier 6'6 medium power fast action, the rod says it can handle 6-12 wt. line. The pflueger 6930 reccomends 4-8 wt. line and the 6935 reccomends 6-10 wt. line. This would make me think the 6935 is the way to go but most people reccomend the 6930.... Thanks so much for any avice
