I've noticed there are a lot of Siebert Outdoors fans here. I want to find out what all the hype is about. I looked over their website a bit and had no idea which jigs to get. What types are your favorites? Is the dredge hook worth the extra $$? I primarily fish jigs in the usual laydowns, brush, docks and weeds. Most often soft bottom, but do fish some hard bottom every once in a while. Any advice on what jig types to try would be great. Thanks in advance!

Got a chance to go out to the same spot as last week! I "leapt" at it! Sorry for all the puns- just having fun on leap day!!! Siebert Outdoors jig does it again - this time a 3/4 oz brush head in 00 modbug with a skinny dipper trailer. @Dypsis 9.07 on the digi- my biggest US bass ever! Same fish just 2 pics. Jeff

What, if any, modifications do you guys use for jigs? I'm talking about my Siebert Sniper jigs specifically. So a small, finesse style jig for some flipping to cover. Hopping, and just general use. the cover is fish varies A LOT so it's hard to have my jigs mod'ed for each type. I fish a LOT of rock and hope to pitch to wood next year and bunch too.

...and I am disappointed....that I don't have the next 2 weeks off to catch every bass this side of the mississippi. These things are awesome. I bought the dredge jig pack in arky head and the random jig pack and for 37 dollars ships I am extremely impressed. This is a shoutout to siebert outdoors thanks for the great jigs. My local ecosystem will struggle to recover for years to come. Myself and the chili craw have some damage to do.

Finally made it out freshwater fishing for the first time this summer and determined to catch my first jig fish....Sure enough a Siebert outdoors 3/8 Dredge brush jig hooked into this lil piggy on the drop... Caught a 3 more afterwards around the same laydown, Thanks again Mike, your jigs are second to none!!

Snuck in some fishing early this morning with my buddy before my day of errands begins. Was out on the water around 06:45 this morning, it was slightly cool around 64 degrees when we started fishing. First pond we went to was absolutely choked with vegetation. While the top of the water was clear of debris, you only had between 8" and 2' of water to fish in. I tried a couple of the new baits I received in the newest MTB (won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't received theirs) but had no luck. We loaded back up after about an hour of no bites and went to another pond about 15 minutes away that we knew had no vegetation. Only problem with this pond is we have been consistently skunked there for the last year. I was not optimistic about my chances but figured we would give it a shot. Fished for about an hour alternating between Senko and Horny toads - nothing doing there. Swapped to one of my new Siebert jigs and started fishing out towards the middle of the pond. Each of us landed one fish on jigs - and while it isn't anything to write home about - I was doubly excited, it is my first Siebert jig fish, and it appears Siebert jigs have helped bust up our long lasting curse of being skunked. Anyways here is a picture.

Spent Friday through Monday up at my summer home with the family. Got out to fish just about everyday with decent success. Weather was in the upper 70's clouds and sunshine for the most part. Had a few storms trickle in on and off Friday/Saturday. Water temps were uppers 70's and broke into low 80's on Sunday with a lot of sunshine. I had a lot of blow ups at the good hours for topwater, and I spent the rest of my time punching weed mats with my new Siebert Outdoors tungsten punch skirts. I will write a review in the tackle section of that after this post. Overall I had a great time with a lot of blow ups on the frog. I think every bass that hit my frog I caught, but I missed a dozen pike or so. They just can't seem to inhale them the same way a bass can. Lost a really nice pike at the boat. Here are some pictures from the GoPro of a few catches. Big bass of the weekend. 21" and 4lb 11oz. Just goes to show you the length and weight difference of the northern bass vs a southern bass. This guy was fun to catch and fought like a beast in the thickest, nastiest slop. You can see how much lily pad and weed growth I have to work with. I love it. Big pike of the weekend. Just around the 30" mark. Nice fish that smashed my LiveTarget frog. A few more pictures of other fish. I have some video footage that I'll try to put together showing some of the catches.

I just wanted to do a quick review of the new punch skirts from Siebert Outdoors. Mike Siebert was kind enough to get them rush shipped to me to so I could fish them this past weekend so I told him I'd give a nice review. Right off the bat, the price point is terrific. 1 oz punch skirt with multiple color options for only $5.75. That's hard to beat when searching out some of the major brand competitors. Slither rigs are $8 or $9 each I think? Anyway, I used 1oz in the Hard Candy color. I snelled a trokar TK130 and used an assortment of trailers. RageTail lobster in watermelon red flake, Rage Tail shellcracker in green pumpking sapphire, RageTail craw in candy craw, and last I used a Havoc Pit Boss as straight green pumpkin. I was using 40lb Suffix 832 line and I was able to punch through some really thick mats with relative ease. Some of the casts I would launch high up in the air so it came down like a missle. The punch skirt worked flawlessly and I would recommend them to everyone here. Mike does an excellent job on his stuff. I used the same 1oz punch skirt the entire weekend. I didn't catch a ton of fish, but I nabbed a few. I have come to realize that I need to beef up my pitching rod using heavier baits like i did. Prior to this, I never did a lot of actual punching (pitching yes) but I can see where a longer rod with more back bone would be much more effecient with heavy baits. I still got the job done and was using my 7'1" MH/F St.Croix Rage rod. 1oz would be the max I would throw with that rod. I think I should have switched to a 3/4 oz but I was in fishing mode and was just on the go. I think even 3/4oz wouldn't have penetrated some mats I was fishing.\ All in all, great product and great service from Mike at Siebert Outdoors. I will definitely be getting more of these. They are worth every penny and Mike's craftsmanship is top notch. He has a great color selection too to match any trailer out there. Way to go Mike and thanks again!

When Mike Siebert first started tying his own jigs over 15 years ago, he was doing so to save money. He was a dedicated jig fisherman, and liked one particular brand.
