    Hello, To those who have a Shimano Scorpion DC17 or DC reels, what lb test braid gave you the best performance? From online research people a lot of people are recommending 40-60lb braid, others say 30. On guy on youtube used 20lb braid and after a while dug into the reel creating ugly and nasty ridges.

    Hi, This might have been posted before, but I was not able to find anything on it..so please forgive me if it has. Anyway...I have had my Curado DC for about 6 months...really like it other than the fact that when I cast (on occasion), my 15 pound braid somehow gets a Birdsnest in it mid cast and will only cast out for a few feet before it stops because of the birdsnests. It's frustrating. Happens in all conditions (no wind, wind, etc.). I use for the most part weightless flukes and use the 2nd setting on it. I have re-spooled it a couple of times to see if that works...even took off about 20 yards of line to see if that would help too. I have noticed when I reel in, my braid is never spooled tight...is this normal? Don't know if this causing the problem. I have read about some Curados being defective...just don't know if this something I'm doing or if it could be defective. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    I've been looking at the shimano metanium recently, and I've noticed that there are a lot of models. does anyone know what the differences are between them?

    I can get a Shimano stradic 2500 fj for $90, or the 4000 for $100 through a work discount. Should I consider any other spin reels at this price point or a little more? I currently own a 4000, but wouldn't mind changing it up for my other setup. Primarily using it for bass and pickerel in vermont/new england, sometimes pike. Pairing it with a 6'6" st croix MH fast action rod.

    Earlier I was asking in regards to a rod for fishing jigs. Now am curious with what all Shimano reel users have on their rods for jig fishing. E5's to E7's, anticipate heaviest jig being 3/4 oz., shallow to deep waters. Rod length will be 7'3" to 7'5". Will budget this to 300.00 for Shimano reel. Dave
