  1. I'm in the market for new rods and I want to know how to test their sensitivy or if it's worth testing at all. Or is it all about the line I have on the rod? I have a St. Croix Mojo Bass at the moment and it feels good but not as sensitive as I think it should.
  2. Hi all, first time posting here! Looking for some suggestions/tips for getting a ~7' M or MH casting rod. I would use it a lot for texas rigged plastics, so sensitivity is important. But if I could get away with it I'd want to also use it for weightless senkos, maybe a spinnerbait, lighter jigs & bladed jigs, and small-ish topwater lures. My other two rods I carry (bank fishing) are a 7'2 ML spinning rod for finesse and a 7'5 H irod Fred's magic stick for heavy cover, frogs and larger topwater lures. Don't have a quality set up for what's in between. Some rods that might work: St Croix Avid 7' MH XF (or 7' medium) Kistler Helium 3 7'1 MH (or KLX 7' MH, or KLX 7' medium) Fenwick Aetos 7' medium More budget friendly Dobyns Sierra 7' MH I know of course there's not one amazing rod for all those tactics, but how about a great rod for a ~1/8-3/8oz Texas rigged rage craw, that can decently handle a 3/8 oz spinnerbait and a smaller Whopper plopper? I don't want two new rods because I like to carry 2-3 at most while bank fishing, and don't have a boat. I might try carrying an extra reel spooled with mono to use on the same rod for treble hook baits like lipless cranks, smaller wakebaits and topwater lures, maybe a jerkbait (although not sure how well this work). Happy to spend more on a rod like the helium IF it really is a significant upgrade compared to the cheaper options and I'll actually feel more bites. I'm curious as to what some of the very knowledgeable and helpful people on this site might be able to tell me! Any tips? Thanks
  3. I asked this question years ago and want to get an update. Is there an appreciable loss in feel by using a 2 piece rod instead of a 1 piece? I bank fish and like to keep a rod or 2 in my car for convenience sake and it's easier to do it with a 2 piece, it's also easier to stow out of site.
  4. Hey Everybody, I'm in the market for a new spinning rod an baitcasting rod. I'm looking at st. croix premiers, abu garcia veritas, fenwick HMX,etc... I'm wondering if there is a big difference in sensitivity between one and two-piece rods. The baitcsating rod doesn't need to be terribly sensitive, as I'll be using it mostly for topwater frogs and spinnerbaits, but the spinning rod needs to be sensitive enough for weighltess wacky-worming. A two-piece would be worlds more convienent but I'm willing to sacrifice convienence if they are not sensitive. Thank you all for any help, Bass Resource has been a God-sent
  5. .Alright so I've been trying out many different rods, but with my slight ocd it kind of bothers me that I have so many different rod and reel combos that aren't "the same." So I was wondering with your expierence and what not which of these rods seems to be the most sensitive in your opinion. Also which one you would choose and why. *** Black (I own one pretty light/great backbone) Abu Garcia Veritas (yes I know they are a little tip heavy and may have breaking problems) Denali Jadewood (I have no expierence with these) Falcon Bucoo (I know they are light and a little underpowered, but have never fished with one) St. Croix Mojo Bass (I know they are heavy and tip heavy, but have never fished with one) Thanks
  6. Alright so I have an *** in 7'1" mh casting.. I love it, sensitive and very powerful. I use it for plastics and jigs. I was wondering if the Jadewood is more sensitive than the 13, or stronger, etc etc. So please give me your opinions. I'm looking around for rods that i can stick with the line up. So if the Jadewood doesnt stack up I will continue to purchase Omens. Thank you
