I love to throw soft plastic lures on a texas rig but I'm always worried about their scent. Should I be afraid of getting "human scent" on my lures while rigging them? Also is it ok to pre-rig a lure and let it sit on the deck of my boat, or will the sun dry it out and reduce the effectiveness of any fish attracting scent on the bait?

I am just starting to get into pouring my own soft plastics. I have made a few plaster molds of baits I designed out of clay and a few pounds of old baits I am going to melt down. Some of the old plastics have a bad smell to them... not the "good" bad smell that fish like either. My first question is: Is there a good way to get rid of that bad smell so that is is more of a neutral scent? and my second is: What could I use to make an effective homemade scent for the baits I pour?

For those of you that fish with Powerbait worms (scented) do you leave your worm on the hook until your next fishing trip or do you always start with a new stinky one out of the bag?

What is your end all, beat all, go to scent? I've tried a few and none seem to really work all that well. This could be a spray,paste, liquid or whatever else works best for you.

On tv, the pro's and bill dance and others have some really bad commercials/sales pitchs. Everytime i watch one, they are trying to sell something that obviously crap. An example is Bill Dance and those fishing scents, the ones that look like a glue stick or the spray ones. Wouldn't the spray one just come off in that water immediately?!?! Also, isn't it just a placebo effect?
