Hello everyone, I'm very pleased to meet you all. It's exhilarating to find passionate fishermen sharing their experiences, advice, and opinions on this forum.
A little bit about myself:
I'm currently living in LA but I will move to Santa Cruz once the school year begins.
I fish mostly on the pier or at lakes.
Bass is my favorite fish to catch; it feels the most rewarding.
I started fishing in saltwater but moved over to freshwater as I learned more about fishing.
If any of you have suggestions of where to fish in Santa Cruz, please let me know! I'll be completely new to the area and won't know where the fishing spots are location.
Also, my dorm is not big enough to fit a one/two piece rod. I've been searching around for travel and telescopic rods. Apparently, neither are recommended since I've heard jigging is a pain with them, but due to the limited space I have, I must choose either of the two if I wish to continue to fish in college.
These are the two rods I've been looking at:

Unfortunately, the second link no longer sells the 6.8 ft model. The reason why I prefer a 7 feet is that it makes the rod more versatile, given the assumption that both rods are strong enough to fish in both saltwater and freshwater. I'm skeptical about both since there aren't too many reviews on either rod.
Nice to meet you all and thank you!
