  1. Just curious guys... I'm still in the camp of just not being able to reel a baitcast reel with my left hand. It feels awkward, looks awkward, and just isn't fluid. I don't like the rod crossing my body from 5 to 11 o'clock either. Then of course there are people online who are like "Ohhh silly right handers it makes no sense to switch hands" yadi yada. I am right handed, so i cast from the right side, or overhead, then I'm able to switch hands before my bait hits the water. I hold my spinning rods in my right hand and reel with my left. So to the guys and gals that reel traditionally, and haven't gotten on the left retrieve train, do you guys notice any decrease in sensitivity or bite detection? Do you feel like you're as confident holding the rod with your less dominant hand? For me, and if I'm being honest, I don't think the confidence is as high as it is with a spinning set up, but its very close. Very rarely do I feel like I would have had a better shot if I got that bite on a spinning rod. However to me, the trade off just isn't worth it. And the confidence will increase with time I'm sure. I'd rather be able to reel smoothly in a circle and feel comfortable in my approach than feel like I'm missing an occasional soft bite. Am I wording this right? Make sense? What do you guys think? I'd rather build my last little bit of confidence reeling righty than try to learn to reel lefty.
  2. Okay so I know the bait you're using is really important but my question is how do you know which bait to use if they are similar. In my arsenal of baits I have a lot of different soft plastics and when I'm trying to fish slowly on the bottom I normally go off of color but does the bait actually matter? Like if I am throwing a texas rig what is going to decide whether I tie up a craw or ribbon tail. And when I do fish slow What is the difference of fishing a fitness worm, jig, or any slow moving bait, if the color matches and sizes is it just personal opinion or is there better times to throw a craw over a worm and so on?
  3. I realized that when fishing spin reels we all either use our left or right hand to retrieve, the same with baitcasters. NOW, I also realized a lot of people dont like left hand retrieve baitcasters... even those who will use a spin reel to retrieve LEFT HANDED. whats the diffrence between using a spin reel left handed and a baitcaster left handed? i dont but im just curious. i notice a lot of people like myself will cast a baitcaster with their right hand and then switch hands to retrieve with their right hand as their left holds the reel. knowing this makes me wonder why people (including myself) who use left hand retrieve spin reels dont use left hand retrieve baitcasters as well. I dont know why im lefty with spin reels and righty with baitcasters but it's just comfortable for me. my main reason for this post is to hear other's thoughts and opinions as well as point out the fact that if you're lefty with a spin reel and righty with a baitcaster you shouldn't find using a left hand retrieve baitcaster that unushual (or should you?). NOT that i want/like left hand retrieve baitcasters. lol and thats another thing why dont people like left hand retrieve baitcasters? personally i'm just used to how i fish and learned on a right handed reel.
  4. looking to get my first baitcaster, I'm right handed and used to spinning reels so lefthanded baitcasters feel more comfortable, I'e read that you usually reel with your strong hand since baitcasters are meant for power fishing but honestly, my left hand is strong enough from spinning tackle. What are your opinions
