  1. Winter fishing a Huddleston grass minnow on the bottom slowly here in Austin. I feel the bite, see the line moving, and set the hook. I snap clean off. I never feel the line load up at all, just gone. I am using 30 lb braid with 17 lb Flourocoated leader. Always breaks in the leader. What am I doing wrong. I am using the Paloma knot to attach the lure to the leader...
  2. I love using Zoom Super Flukes, especially under docks. However, it seemed that with weightless Texas Rigging the hole where the hook goes through the fluke would eventually get tore up and allow the hook to poke through too much ruining it's weedlessnes and it would start fouling a lot on weeds. I saw a video on here posted by another Bass Resource'r that showed using a medium Owner CPS Twistlock to nosehook the fluke like a Banjo Minnow. It seemed great so I tried it. However, I lost 3 CPS Twistlocks because the opening was just too big for the hook. They weren't lost fighting fish, just during casting. Since I didn't want to change the hook or Twistlock size I had to find a way to keep it on. Owner CPS Twistlocks aren't cheap, so I wanted to avoid losing them. I thought about it and tried putting on some Heat Shrink Tubing on the hook first, then adding the Twistlock, and then putting the rest of the heat shrink over the hook and cutting the excess heat shrink. We tried it out today and if worked great. Caught a lot of sunnies and largemouth including this 3.5lber. Didn't lose any more Flukes or Twistlocks. Also, for some reason this seems to be more weedless than any other way I've tried rigging Super Flukes, including T-Rigging. What you need: 1.) Zoom Super Fluke 2.) 1/8" inch Heat Shrink 3.) Owner Twistlock CPS - medium size 4.) Hook of your choice (I like 2/0 Owner Mosquito Hooks)
  3. Hey all, I'm trying to put together a list of different ways to rig soft plastics. Pretty straightforward. I'm planning to try all these this summer, and maybe do a how-to on them. So far we've got: Texas rig Carolina rig Wacky rig Drop shot rig Neko rig Alabama rig Weightless rig Shaky head rig General jig rigging (football, swim, bladed) Ball head/underspin rig Split shot rig That's all I got so far. Let's hear some more, plus any you randomly come up with!
  4. Hey all, I recently got some extra ca$h from my job (tackle shop on the weekends!), and wanted to get some new terminal tackle, or rather, a box of it. I just wanted to hear some feedback on what stuff to include in it. I want an assortment of hooks, weights, etc that I can use to rig basically every plastic out there. Thanks a bunch, Drew ~Catch 'em
  5. Has anyone ever rigged flukes on a shaky head? or anything other than worms for that matter. what works for you, care to share?
  6. I have recently decided to embark on the Kayak endeavor. I have done some research, and have narrowed my choices down to 2 kayaks, the Ascend FS10 sit-in, and the Ascend FS12T sit-on-top. I am 6' 2'' 240 lbs and will be fishing primarily lakes and ponds. I went to BPS and looked at both kayaks, and they each had pros and cons for what I was wanting. What are your opinions of pros and cons of each? What kind of rigging and customization should I look into doing? What are some of your best functionality tips for yak fishing?
  7. What would you suggest a fisherman new to bass fishing ( always fished for sunfish, catfish, trout) use for shore bass fishing? What kind of setups would you use if you were limited to fishing from the shore?
  8. Okay so first off I would like to say that I am still relatively inexperienced in the great sport of angling. Last year I began learning to drag tube baits when I found a bunch of them in my uncles tacklebox. I was intrigued and decided to rig them the way they are normally rigged on a tube jig head by sticking them through and popping the eye out. I had quite a bit of luck this way and even landed a solid 4pnd 12oz smallmouth! my pb smallmouth. When I did research online I realized I however seem to be the only one who has fished these baits on a BALL HEAD JIG like this:http://www.junebugtackle.com/jig-head-cannon-ball.php as opposed to a TUBE bait jig head like this:http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/sportsmans/Troutsmen-Jig-Head-Tube-Head/productDetail/Jig-Heads/prod9999008466/cat101088 , my question is, is the ball head jig hindering the action of the bait and would I have better luck with a tube jig head? THANK YOU!
