  1. I have a silvermax 3 and recently took it apart to clean, well when I went to go test with my new rod my drag was loose. It was loose even when I had it maxed out. It doesn't have braid it has 15 pound mono. I've tried everything respooled it, cleaned it again, and changed the drag washers to be like this (), but still having problems. does anybody have any suggestions?
  2. So i went to a party and someone literally spilled soup on my fishing reel and rod that was tucked away in the corner and the soup became gelatinous on the reel and rod, for the rod i just rinsed it down and dried it off and for the reel i rinsed it and opened the brakes and rinsed it down too, but somehow there’s some stuck in the handle, but i’m not sure if i rinsed it all out, anything else i should do, to be safe?
  3. Hello, I’m looking for some help regarding my Shimano Casitas 150HG. The reel casts fine, but when I turn the handle to reel it makes a somewhat loud noise. Im pretty sure it’s the bearing but my question is what bearing should I replace? And does anyone know the size? Thank you
  4. I have 2 fishing rods and was wondering if anyone new where I could get my guides inspected and repaired
  5. I have a plastic boat that has a fairly small hole in the hull. I’ve heard that epoxy is a good idea with plastic kayaks but on the boat, I only have access to one side of the hole. I can see the hole from the outside, but on the inside of the boat there’s an extra plastic mold that completely blocks you from seeing the hole. Is an epoxy still possible if I can’t get to both sides? If it’s not, what are my best options here? Any advice would be helpful.
  6. I had a short 1.5" piece break off a tip of a pole and replaced the guide on the tip to repair it. The new guide is a littler bigger guide than was on the original tip. Does it really have any impact on performance?
  7. My cousin and I went fishing in a heavy rain the other day. When we got home we decided to re-lube our reels. He assured me he could take it apart without a guide. Now the reel takes a second or two of turning the handle before the spool begins to move. He had a few extra shims left over. I took it apart and put it back together and couldn't figure out the issue. The reel is an Ambassadeur 5600CB. I was wondering if anyone has had the same issue and has a fix. TIA
  8. Drag tightens but won't loosen
  9. Got a crack under the metal plate where the trolling motor clamps on. Any ideas for repair. I'm thinking some kind of marine caulk that would harden in the crack.Cant send a pic for some reason.

  11. Anyone have any experience with Fenwick's customer service? I love their rods and my whole arsenal is Daiwa reels and Fenwick rods. Was out fishing with my dad earlier this week and he stepped on and bent my 7'6" HMX punching rod's eyelet. I slowly and carefully bent the eyelet back straight and the resin cracked. The eyelet is now straight but the resin holding it to the rod has a fracture in it. The rod is fine but after all, it is my punching/frog rod that sees the most abuse and I would really like to get it fixed/replaced. Does anyone have any experience with Fenwick's customer service? I bought the rod from Gander Mountain only a few months ago and have the receipt.
  12. It's an Abu Garcia Black Max 2, the low profile one, 2 months or so old. When it happened: I got a backlash, got lazy and tried to fix it with the trick where you put your thumb on the spool and turn the handle (first time I did it). I heard a click (maybe it was thumb bar engaging or maybe something getting damaged). So it didn't work and and just untangled it normally (picking at the line). Next time I try reeling in, the drag won't hold. Basically, my worm lure is heavy enough to keep it from reeling in. What I tried: Wiping the drag washers, tightening the drag (to the tightest), checking for slipping line on the spool (ghost drag?), made sure I positioned those two washers in a () position. Other things I noticed: I also completely removed the line and cranked the handle. The spool does turn but putting my thumb fairly lightly on the spool will stop it from spinning while I can still crank the handle. The drag washers should still be good, since it's pretty new and its not used too much. Also, does anyone have the schematics for this reel. Can't seem to find it online. Abu Garcia's website only has the Black Max 1 which is similar but definitely has different parts. I just want to make sure I put everything back together right. Any ideas on what I can do to fix? Thanks for any responses. Here's a couple of picture if it helps.
  13. I have an opportunity to buy an aluminum stripped down Bass Tracker for a very low price. The seller is only asking $300 with a trailer. It is pretty bare bones though containing only the decking due to it having been stolen and stripped. The thing that concerns me with this boat is it is missing a rib and does leak some. I am not sure which rib it is yet as I have not seen the boat yet. I will only be using this boat with an electric trolling motor so I am not concerned about getting on plane or the weight of an outboard either. It will limit me to what I can use the boat for but my local lake is easily fished with only a trolling motor and for the low price think it may be worth the investment. What are your opinions if this boat will hold up for a few years just cruising around with the electric motor. Should I save the money and just start with a better aluminum hull and build my own deck in it?
  14. Hello Everyone, I am new to the forum so forgive me if this isn't in the right spot. However, I have a Shimano bait caster that I was given a year ago. Because of how busy I was this last year, I used it once (5 casts). Then, the reel started making a strange clicking sound. It is almost like it starts and stops, hitting some sort of part that causes the resistance. I am not super familiar with the parts terminology. However, I have taken the reel apart several times and cleaned, degreased, relubed, etc. The problem really only occurs when I close the case of the reel covering the centrifugal braking system. To be more clear, I will leave the side open exposing the brakes. This allows the spool to spin freely and feel very smooth. When I close and lock the case, problem reoccurs. I'm kinda stumped and really don't want to pay the $35 or whatever if it is simply a small alignment fix. I can take pictures or whatever as needed to help explain. I would appreciate any help I can get! Franky
  15. I've decided that, that for three days I will disclose three new rigs I've discovered (two of which I've developed myself.) Day Two's new rig is the shaky wacky combo. It is a great twist whether fished as a finesse shaky head presentation, like a wacky rig, or with a walk the dog retrieve. One note, though, if fished like a wacky rig, it can be fished faster. Todays tips: Never throw away a torn up plastic. If ripped up from hooks, take a chunk of plastic, like those strips of material that bind appendages on a bait, stuff them into the crevice and expose to a flame. Most external damage can be fixed by stretching/bending the "wounded" area and exposing to a flame in short bursts. A good goal to aim for is to, for baits such as worms with ridges on the body, you repair the lure without liquefying said ridges. As for ones beyond repair, cut them up how you like, and via a lighter/stove top, combine them with other baits. Some good examples: I will take torn up senkos, slice them lengthwise (after repairing it) and take the tails from torn up rage tail anacondas, and melt the tail along the senko. This creates a leech type bait that is great for drop shoting in current. Finesse worms are the easiest to repair. The tail is where the action is, so if the head is ripped, melt on another head. BE CREATIVE, after all you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Tune in tomorrow for day 3.
