  1. I bought a brand new 7’ Lews Mach Smash spinning combo recently. From everything I’ve read & been told, it’s one of the better bass spinning rod combos out there around the $100 mark. I bought it because I broke the rod on my Abu Garcia Jordan Lee 7’ spin combo. I was expecting the smash to be somewhat as effective as my abu, or even better. Yet, I can’t get that lews to make a decent cast. I got wal mart Shakespeares to cast the same lure even further. So I put the Jordan Lee reel on my lews rod and it casts like a charm. I’ve re-spooled my lews reel multiple times with good line, lighter line, … compared casts with different lure sizes, tried everything. Why does this $100 combo reel cast worse than a $20 wal mart combo? Obviously the reel is the problem. I don’t see any obvious issues with the reel itself so I’m really curious to find out what’s going on with this Mach smash reel. Is it just a bad reel? Am I missing something? Very frustrating! Anyone else own this combo? If so, How is it working out for you? Also, I am new to this forum. How do I edit a post? I spelled “Lew’s” wrong in my subject title. Smh, how can i change it?
  2. I clean and fix reels on the side as a second income and I’ve ran into an issue that I just can’t figure out. It’s a Johnny Morris Carbon Black reel. Whenever I tighten the drag down the reel gets stuck at the bottom when reeling. The spool is straight, no problems, I even tried other spools. If I take the spool out it reels nice and smooth. If I put the spool back in and loosen the drag it reels totally fine. It’s only when the drag is down that I have the issue. I put new spool bearings and brand new drag washers. Still, same issue. Can someone please help? I’ve googled it and I’m not finding any answers at all. Thanks guys!!
  3. I recently (and by recently, I mean yesterday) bought a Shimano Cardiff 300A from Bass Pro Shops. A few hours after buying, I lined it up and went out and started throwing 1.5oz swimbaits on it for around 3 hours with no problem. Today, I went to use it and it started making a squealing sound when I casted it and it wouldn't cast far. Then, when I tried to adjust the spool, I noticed the reel did not go into free spool at all when I pressed down the thumb bar. I haven't taken the reel apart, as I don't know if that voids the warranty. I just bought this reel yesterday, and would appreciate any help I could get. - Davis M
  4. I was fishing with my lexa 300 and i push down the spool release.( it must have been half enganged) amd then i casted but the lure just whipped my rod hard. I felt stupid so i went to cast again. Now when i cast it sounds like something is grinding inside the reel(almost like a reel with a chip in it), i can no longer make accurate casts and pitches with it. It is no longer smooth. Anybody else have this situation? Or know if it is a simple fix or should i send it in to get repaired? thanks
  5. Hey guys i could really use some help, I have a lews speed spool that is fairly new and lately i have noticed that when I reel and then stop reeling abruptly the spool continues to spin and it makes a clicking noise. I have not been able to find anything online to solve the problem. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dylan
