Got to see and have dinner with several of you while at the Classic and enjoyed getting to talk with each of you. I've got some really fun stuff coming out at this ICAST and will share it with you in a week or so. Here's a photo of a pretty gal that I caught recently on a Rage Hawg pitched in 8ft. water. It was all I could do to HOLD on until she gave up. Hope this years fishing is great for you and I am trying to keep up with all messages that you send me here on BR so keep in touch

  7. I just wanted to do a quick review of the new punch skirts from Siebert Outdoors. Mike Siebert was kind enough to get them rush shipped to me to so I could fish them this past weekend so I told him I'd give a nice review. Right off the bat, the price point is terrific. 1 oz punch skirt with multiple color options for only $5.75. That's hard to beat when searching out some of the major brand competitors. Slither rigs are $8 or $9 each I think? Anyway, I used 1oz in the Hard Candy color. I snelled a trokar TK130 and used an assortment of trailers. RageTail lobster in watermelon red flake, Rage Tail shellcracker in green pumpking sapphire, RageTail craw in candy craw, and last I used a Havoc Pit Boss as straight green pumpkin. I was using 40lb Suffix 832 line and I was able to punch through some really thick mats with relative ease. Some of the casts I would launch high up in the air so it came down like a missle. The punch skirt worked flawlessly and I would recommend them to everyone here. Mike does an excellent job on his stuff. I used the same 1oz punch skirt the entire weekend. I didn't catch a ton of fish, but I nabbed a few. I have come to realize that I need to beef up my pitching rod using heavier baits like i did. Prior to this, I never did a lot of actual punching (pitching yes) but I can see where a longer rod with more back bone would be much more effecient with heavy baits. I still got the job done and was using my 7'1" MH/F St.Croix Rage rod. 1oz would be the max I would throw with that rod. I think I should have switched to a 3/4 oz but I was in fishing mode and was just on the go. I think even 3/4oz wouldn't have penetrated some mats I was fishing.\ All in all, great product and great service from Mike at Siebert Outdoors. I will definitely be getting more of these. They are worth every penny and Mike's craftsmanship is top notch. He has a great color selection too to match any trailer out there. Way to go Mike and thanks again!
  8. I had the great honor of fishing this morning with memphis's biggest bass fishing legend, second only to some furniture salesman named Bill Dance. Yes thats right Roadwarrior. We fished a very private pond , which I'm sure made all those grove park bass happy that they could eat in peace for a day. The day started off calm and early at 5 am when i struck first for the day with a pair of white cavitron buzz bait bass and missed a few more, while RW fished a rage tail on top like a buzz bait surprisingly unsuccessfully. After what little topwater bite there was died down, RW fished a lobster on a Stick'r rig and had a few bites but still had not put a fish in the boat :surprised: . I was getting worried. We were talking about all the big girls Big-O catches and how we wish there was some standing timber to pitch a rage hawg around just like Big-O does. About that time RW says "I just wanna be like Big-O" and ties on a Rage Hawg in Summer Craw with a half ounce weight and a razor sharp Moaner hook. Like I expected, he just started whacking some chunky bass with one worth a picture. I caught a few more on a worm but I was just trying to take in the experience. A storm chased us off but not before we did a little damage. Yep, TW is going to get an order for some rage hawgs pretty soon, not to mention I'm sitting on the edge of my seat for the icast rage introductions, y'all will love them!
  9. went out yesterday around 5 to the good old golf course lake in ATL. I haven't been able to go out much this year due to Ga Tech rigor, but summer is here and I am pumped. I caught three decent bass all on a football head jig with a rage craw trailer. These bass were grabbing the jig and RUNNING with it. after detecting the bite, I would set the hook and the bass would already be 5-10 feet from where the bite occured. Good sign of other bass in the region? Caught the 4-5 lb chunk while pitching at a new tree laydown. After catching these bass, I realize that fishing may be my favorite thing to do (good thing my girl friend likes to fish). I have the fever again....hello baitmonkey
