  1. I recently bought a new tatula elite spinning rod for hair jigs, the 7’6 ml. I can’t seem to find any information on the internet about it though or even find the exact rod listed anywhere 🤔 The rod is the latest generation of tatula elite 7’6 ml lure range 1/16-5/16 line rating is 4-10lb test. The rod has cork handles that none of the normal elite rods have. so my question for you guys that are more knowledgeable about Daiwa rods is that does this rod truly exist ? Did they get rid of the model or was it built on a AGS rod blank with the Fuji guides ? My guess is that it was built on a AGS blank, but I looked for over 3 hours last night and couldn’t find anything😔 thank you for your time and knowledge I appreciate it, I am mystified at this point lol.
  2. Hi All, Looking into modifying a trolling motor to install at the stern of my Wilderness Systems Ride 135 over the winter. I have realized that it will require some MacGyvering to make everything work the way that I want it to, but for now wanted to focus on modifying the actual trolling motor. Last winter I put together something that allowed me to add a trolling motor to the side of my kayak (just behind and too my left). It worked well getting between locations, but having it at the side required manual adjustments from one hand on a fairly regular basis and turning or even going dead straight against wind, waves, current required oversteering in many cases – I think based on it being at the side vs. rear. I would really like to have it at the rear of my kayak and use the foot pedals to steer – more hands free to continue fishing… I have been doing a lot of research on this, but unfortunately am not particularly handy or mechanically inclined (accountant) – feel free to let me know if I am way off track or need to rethink everything… I have a Minn Kota Endura C2 38 lbs thrust that I plan to use for this purpose. I am planning to add a Pulse Width Modutor (PWM) – some additional reading = here: Unfortunately, I need something that can be shipped to Canada – so currently looking into: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/DC-10-55V-100A-Motor-Speed-Controller-PWM-Reversible-Control-Forward-Reverse/264569858292?hash=item3d9997a8f4:g:1x0AAOSwiX1d-MGd From my understanding – with a standard trolling motor – this would be installed between the battery and the trolling motor, leave the trolling motor control to 5 and then the PWM dial would then control the actual speed (100% variable) using the dial. If reverse is required, the above noted PWM has a switch that would need to be used… What I know so far: · I was planning to remove the Minn Kota head, shorten the shaft and extend the wires from the motor to my seat (approx. 5 feet). · Minn Kota’s instruction manuals provide a conductor gauge and circuit breaker sizing table. For 5 feet recommends 10 AWG. For most installations this would be extending just the positive and negative cables running between the battery and trolling motor. · The Endura has 4 wires running down to the motor – these are significantly smaller gauge than the battery wires that run external to the trolling motor itself. · Two of the cables are the +ve and -ve for power, while the extra 2, to my knowledge are designed to regulate the speed and convert power into heat as opposed to propulsion – which makes the trolling motor extremely inefficient – hence the use of a maximizer or PWM to improve the power consumption. What I am currently wrestling with: 1. Will I need 2 control units going forward? The PWM to allow for 100% variable speed control as well as the Minn Kota head set to setting 5? Or can I remove the Minn Kota head from the equation, tying the wires from the trolling motor directly into the PWM and use the PWM to control everything? 2. If the trolling motor head is no longer required and the PWM controls the power flowing from the battery to the motor, can the 2 “extra” wires that regulated speed previously be ignored? 3. I want to extend the wires from the trolling motor forward so that the PWM would sit either directly in front of me or to my left (position TBD but again ~ 5 feet should work). Effectively, my thoughts were battery connected to PWM using the existing battery cables that would normally run from the trolling motor to the battery. Then 5 fees of 10 AWG connecting the PWM directly to the shortened trolling motor via the existing smaller gauge wires. I think that is a good staring point for now. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Scott
  3. Purchased a Star Rod Stella 7ft Medium-Fast and Diawa BG 3000. Thanks for your help! (Please criticize everything I'm using/buying if you think necessary. Please bless me with your wisdom. I'm pretty new to the gear world.) *Looking for a rod around $100 for freshwater bass.* Preferably 7', 1 piece, Fast & M or MH or H (which rating. suggestions?) "Best" power rating? Is there a big difference between 2pc&1pc aside from convenience? Much more sensitive? I was told the action begins at the base on a 1pc and at the middle/only the tip on a 2pc. That same person also said there isnt a difference btw 1&2pc so now I dont understand... *Purchasing a Daiwa BG 3000 spinner* Using: - 4"-5" senkos yum dinger or gambler fat ace & occasionally some spinners - 3/0 VMC widegap offset hooks - 3/16oz bullet slip sinkers - Powerpro braided line. (15lb test or 10?) If you have any suggestions on a rod and anything I should change for my rig please let me know. I was told today at a local shop that I shouldn't use braided line on a spinner and floro would be better. Especially when casting. Opinions? I've done a ton of research and been talking to a buddy from Florida. Theres so much gear I'm having trouble finding the right rod and my chat with a local shop manager contradicted most of what I've learned. I live in metro NY so serious fishing buds are hard to find. I've been fishing for a while but never really got into the gear side of it. Thanks in advance. Sorry for the long post.
  4. Can someone tell me if this reel (http://m.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Abu-Garcia-Revo-STX-Spinning-Reel-REVO2STX10&i=912087) would be a good pair for this rod (http://m.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=St-Croix-Legend-Tournament-Bass-Casting-Rod-610-Medium-Light&i=451547) I really don't have time to check. Anything would be great. Also I'd appreciate any alternate suggestions.
  5. Hey whats up guys, hope you guys are having tight lines out there for a fall fishing. I have a question about jigs, I have a St.Croix Avid X 6'8 medium xtra fast spinning rod. I want to try some jig fishing, should I be using a 1/4oz football jig or a 3/8 oz foot ball jig? Thanks for all the advice!
  6. Anyone know anything about this reel? Shimano BB-X 3000. All I can come up with is that it has a manual break lever instead of a drag. It has to be close to 10 years old.
  7. Hey everyone! I'm new on these forums and the one thing on my mind is BASS. When my brothers go out to catch crappy or catfish... I pull out the bass gear lol. I run spinning rods religiously and for some reason cannot stand realing with my right hand. I've been using left sided spinning reels all my life lol. Anyways I've been thinking about a bass box ever since the season started. I haven't been out this year and really want to build my box and get out a few times this season. So I'm a shore fisherman not by choice, but by...wallet... lol. The bulk of my success bass fishing as been with soft plastics like senkos and roboworms. I'd like to build a box that incorporates my love for softbaits with a few other tride and true varieties to catch bass. This is what my box looks like in my mind Senkos 4in worm - watermelon blk/red flake 4in worm - smoke blk/silv flake 3in grub - watermelon blk/red flake 3in grub - smoke blk/silver OR cream white OR black purple flake Hard Baits Bluegill Rat L Trap Blue shad Rat L trap Terminal Tackle* Gamakatsu 3/0-4/0 work hooks (both black and red) Spinner arms (silver willow) for grubs Jig Heads for grubs **I usually keep all my stuff for carolina/texas rigs and other jig rigs separate in a small "terminal tackle box" So this box is really just what I've had success with and what I feel like I could almost always catch a bass with. Slow or aggressive, sunny or cloudy, shallow or deep. I feel like this box has just barely enough diversity to catch me a bass in all the places I normally frequent. Questions: Where can I find spinner arms? I love having the idea of having a "build your own" spinnerbait kind of on the spot variety in my box. Though I'm not a big fan of skirts (probably due to lack of knowledge about spinners) and actually have had pretty good success running the grubs on a spinners naked. Since I know I'm probably don't know as much about bass as I think I do, what do you think are MUST HAVES in a Northern California conditions bass box? If I DID want skirts for what I have listed in this box, What colors should I get? Considering that these are the baitfish in my area. I think.. Lol Thanks guys
  8. So I'm fairly new to bass fishing, and being young and all, I don't have access to a boat (or a car for that matter), and I don't actually get to fish all that often, besides at a not-so-good pond down the street. HOWEVER, one thing I hate is when I do go fishing, not having the bait for the situation. Right now, my tackle bag has Berkley power worms (red shad and blackish bluish purplish color), yum dingers (watermelon red and a blackish color with a blue tip) and zoom lizards (same a s dingers pretty much), and watermelon red baby brush hogs, along with a spinnerbait, buzzbait, or jig here and there. Now I pretty much always just Texas rig these things, probably because I'm a lazy teenager (sometimes I even use snap swivels *gasp*). however, I'm looking to "expand my horizons" and start Carolina rigging, drop shotting and such. But I have some questions! First off, is drop shotting kinda like backwards Carolina rigging? That's how I interpreted it. Secondly, what situations would I use each rigging style in (I know I could find this elsewhere, but I've looked and really didnt understand). And also, shaky heads. I've heard them mentioned in many a bass fishing video. I understand theyre like little jigheads, to "stand the bait up"? Is this right? What style/ size jighead with what type of plastic? Lastly, so far, I've skimmed some other threads, been thinking I'll invest in a few more spinnerbaits, and some rage tail space monkeys. Maybe a crank or two (lot a weeds where I am, which deters me from wanting to use a crank). Thanks very much in advance, Octopusfingers
