  1. Hello All, This is my first year of snowbirding in Florida and I've landed in an anglers heaven. It's a huge Lake system in Naples Florida call The Quarry. But as a seasoned saltwater angler from NY I'm just beginning to learn the ropes. I have found some great fishing here including 6 over 5 pounds in two weeks and an 8 1/2 Pounder. All on rubber. Any suggestions on what type of crank baits I could be throwing? I have yet to catch a fish on anything but a rubber offering. Anyhow here's my biggest o date:
  2. First time quarry fishing and got my butt kicked today. Windy, cloudy, deep, clear (5-10’ vis), mostly rocky shoreline some moderate submerged grass/other vegetation near shore dropping off quickly into unknown depths. Spent some time fishing a deps slide swimmer and got some very nice smallies to show themselves (shore fishing only), got some follows, several at a time more than once, almost right to my feet, no takers though. Frustration ensued then I tossed around some jerks, a mojo rigged centipede , ned, spinner baits etc. nothing, nada, not a sniff or follow, only interest was in the glide bait. Can drop shot be effective fishing steep banks from shore? Finesse and smallie fishing in general is not my strong suit, going back tomorrow what would you do?
  3. Hey everyone, So i just moved into a new area (Fort Myers, FL), and it seems there are a ton of rock quarries in the area that are supposed to hold some trophy-size LMB. However I am used to fishing smaller farm ponds where I used to live, so I would love some tips/tricks that could get them biting. These quarries seem relatively clear, with some very steep drop-offs (can't see the bottom). Some sections are very rocky on the bank, some are grassy areas. What should I be throwing in both? I have had a little luck with senkos, but mostly have been fishing deep diving cranks (8-12ft. and 18ft.) PS. My buddy used an Alabama rig which worked great until he lost it in 20ft.+ of water ?
  4. Alright guys, I know this topic has been covered, but every spots different. I reguarily fish a quarry that I figure can't be deeper than 20 or so feet. I hit weed beds dead center on a 10-14 feet crank bait, I can't tell for sure but I can guess it's 15-30 feet dead center. The water itself is clear, and it's fished often. My question is what should I be doing differently. The rock walls are too far away to reach from one point and one rock wall doesn't start until about 15 feet into water where it cuts off 1 foot to, just open open water. I know fish are in there, they just don't bite.
  5. Hey all! Help me out if you can. How do you land a big Bass from a steep bank or overhang, other than pulling her in by the hook? (Risk lossing and/or harming the fish too high). Is pole netting the only option? I'm thinking of making a dropper net on a rope for the long landings, maybe a bucket with the bottom cut off and net attached. Anyone dealt with this issue? thank!
  6. Is it considered trespassing to fish in a quarry? There's a quarry a few miles from me and its got 2 nice looking ponds in it. I know people fish quarry's but I'm not sure if we are actually allowed to. I see construction trucks down there so I think people are still working on in the quarry. I also have no clue how to get down there, but I've heard that these quarries hold some big bass! Are we allowed to fish down there and would those construction guys mind? And also how do you even get down there?
