  2. Hey bassresource users. So, my St. Croix premier snapped in half while trying to free a snag. /: I've Been looking on St. Croix website and seen their gold star upgrade plan. I'm looking for a spinning rod to fish soft plastics and small football jigs nothing bigger than 1/2oz.. I'll mainly be using T-Rig and drop-Shot techniques.. Maybe some weightless flukes/super flukes The Avid series caught my attention. Now I need help choosing the best model for it.. I prefer a rod at least 6'6 and nothing over 7'. Which do you guys recommend? Also, how do the original Avids compare to the Avid X in terms of feel and sensitivity. Thanks For your help. Hopefully I can choose soon because I just sent out my premier to the repair center today.
  3. Hey guys I have been looking at picking up a new graphite cranking rod and had the St. Croix Premier 7'0'' MHM in mind for shallow to medium diving cranks. I've read some reviews here and there but there's not a lot of insight as to the rod's performance. I have heard that the MM is a little too light for some of the heavier baits, so I felt the MH would best fit my needs. Can anyone provide me with some insight or previous experiences with this series of rods?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Dante
  4. I need a new reel and was set to grab a Revo Premier, and now the Z200 is at the same price point. I had never seriously looked at the Z200 at or near the MSRP. But, now I am forced to make a comparison between the two. As how I fish, well, I am all over the spectrum. I guess mostly I fish small ponds and smallish rivers/creeks, but a few times a year I do hit the delta, and Berryessa/Clear Lake. I do a fair amount of traveling, mostly to North Texas and split my time between Fork, Ray Roberts, and a Private lake while I am there. I have mainly been a shimano guy in the past, though I own a couple of quantum spinners. Does anyone with experience with one, or even better, both of these care to weigh in? Or do I just say screw it and get a T3 and T3 Ballistic. 1st world problems.......... Anyway, thoughts would be appreciated.
  5. I am going to purchase a St. Croix Premier Casting rod in the near future and I am wondering in anyone has any experience using this rod for frogging. I want a 7 footer but I'm debating between a medium-heavy or heavy (both fast action) because I am worried that the heavy might be too stiff to throw frogs far enough. Any ideas are much appreciated.
